What are you guys looking for in events?

It would be cool to see more NPCs celebrating the event in the plaza with you...like Blathers or Sable.

Maybe have the town hall close from like 7pm-12am so Isabelle and Nook can party for a little bit.

I really just want furniture items that I can use, ones that don't necessarily feel similar to the ones we already have.

The events themselves I don't ask for much, since my interest is always the items, however, the villager interactions are a priority for me. I'd much rather have an event where my actions have meaning to the villagers, and I wish we had an event where we had to respond to villagers with the right reactions or something.

I don't hate any of the events I've played thus far (which isn't as many as most others here), but I do wish there was a little more to them, I suppose.

I’d love to see full furniture sets. I think the Festivale set is the closest we’ve seen in something being cohesive, but maybe I’m mistaken.

For example with the Spooky set it felt like it was largely meant to be an outdoor set but we also got a wallpaper and flooring? We have a table & chairs too but they blend in nicely outdoors so I’m not terribly bothered. At least with the Festivale items they all make sense and are usable together, which I like.

It’d be nice to get full indoor sets and outdoor items as well but I know that’s asking for a lot, lol. I just miss collecting the cute seasonal furniture and having a special room for the month! This would be especially nice in New Horizons since we don’t have a ton of indoor sets.

I’d also like a consistent way of obtaining the furniture items. I think the Spooky set handled this the best. Let the set be craftable and buyable and have the DIYs be easy to obtain! I really enjoyed how with the spooky set we got the DIYs from balloons and villagers. I wasn’t stressed about getting the items at all.

It would be really nice if the furniture all started being released on the 1st of the month, as well. It really bothered me that for Toy Day we didn’t start getting festive DIYs/materials until the 15th. Coupled with how they usually hide the best furniture for the actual celebration it’s a bit of a bummer when I have to wait so long to decorate.

For the celebrations themselves I actually don’t mind when they’re shorter as long as they’re fun to play! I thought the Halloween event was super cute even if it was short. The Jingle event was laughably short though and super, super simple with some lacklustre rewards.

What's your opinion on the Bunny Day or Turkey Day sets?

The Spooky set works well for decorating both inside the house and on the outside of the house. Now that decorating your town is a thing in Animal Crossing, outdoor furniture pieces (like the fencing) is something that should be included and out overlooked by Nintendo. While some furniture looks like it belongs outside, it can still do just fine indoors if you wanted a themed room. This is how it worked in the past games.

The bunny day set I really liked, actually! I think it was a cute blend of furniture that looked nice indoors & outdoors. The thanksgiving set was cute too 🥰 it was on the smaller side (and I’m grumpy that the table was a bit of an odd size ?? If I’m remembering right I couldn’t place all the items on it to look like a table set, lol) but it all went together really well.

The spooky set I just can’t seem to make a whole room of it. I feel like it works the best as an outdoor set so having the wallpaper & flooring just felt a bit odd?

I really love being able to decorate my island too, I hope it didn’t sound like I was upset about the outdoor furniture! I just wish it wasn’t a “this or that” thing. I love the new spooky items but I’d also have liked the old spooky set to be in the game as well or at least more indoor items.

My idea of a satisfying event would be giving us some new things to do to bring us into the game daily for a few weeks leading up to the event.
Halloween was a pretty good example of this. I mean they could have still given us more to do daily leading up but still, collecting a candy a day, checking if villagers were crafting a brand new DIY, and planting/watering pumpkins were some new things to do daily.
As for the event on the day, I'd love if they introduced fun new games for us to play with either friends or villagers in order to receive rewards. Just new ways of playing that keep things fresh and not so repetitive. I don't think it's too much to ask for.

What I would want in an event (for NH at least)... something exclusive.
Almost every dang event has furniture you can get BEFORE the event, making the events almost useless. I understand why they are doing this but like... what's the point of an event at that point. Just make the furniture seasonal for hecks sake.

My dream event would be to get weeding day back from new leaf, except with some exclusive plant stuff. The game is based on the island and not interiors after all, so maybe getting new plants or something would be nice? (really I just miss violets)

Nintentalk put together a tiermaker for the events if anyone wants to share their opinion

Here's mine.

I wrote down my opinion on some of them and why there are ranked the way they are.

+ New Years Eve was by far the most fun event I did, and my favorite in the game. Top notch. I can't believe it existed since launch. The music was amazing, and it gradually changed as the time got closer. I set my Switch time zone 2 hours ahead that day. That way midnight in game was 10:00pm in real life. This gave me a chance to experience it at midnight in game and the moments after without missing out on anything IRL.

+ Fireworks Show: I didn't play much in August, and only remember doing the Fireworks Show at least once. The music was great, and it was nice having Isabelle and Redd in the plaza, getting little prizes, and the chance to put up custom fireworks. It's comparable to New Year's Eve with the Fireworks. Just a little less exciting. Since it takes place in the summer (for my hemisphere at least), and happens every Sunday in August rather than be a 1 time thing, I will put it in the top tier.

+ Halloween: I was still on a hiatus but I jumped on to play. I was immediately greeted by Ankha who wanted candy. I didn't have any so she wrecked my face. I was able to find a costume in Able Sisters and complete the event with no preparation. I learned the 2 new emotes and got some Halloween themed items. One thing I liked was that the event didn't last all day. It was only in the evening. This means your town isn't stuck celebratingfrom 5am until 12am/5am.

+ Bunny Day: Kind of touched on this earlier today, but Bunny Day may have felt annoying in the beginning as the eggs seemed to pop up when we wanted something else, but after progressing in the game like I have now, I don't think it will be a problem this year. The items aren't for everyone, but I liked the simplicity of obtaining and crafting them. This was actually fun for me in the beginning because it gave me the chance to craft a bunch of items, which is new to a mainline game.

The lower tier ones are debatable. They are more or less lacking in one area or another.

+ Festivale is okay, and I really enjoy the cheer coming from the villagers, but we're just fetching feathers for Pave, and going through a bunch of dialogue and dance sequences. The Some of the items though aren't too bad. I especially love the lamp, but they are limited and it's a chore to get more.

+ Toy Day wasn't bad, though I feel it could have been more. Especially if Jingle would have gifted us Festive items or DIYs for helping him with things. Finding the Festive DIYs took many dedicated hours to standing still on the beach and hitting balloons.

+ Wedding Event: I wanted to rank the event lower, but I decided not to as I realize the system of earning heart crystals with rewards merits a better ranking. The problem with the event is that it exists outside your island. It's not celebrated on the plaza or anything. It's in isolation. I found it also works like HHD. You can spam furniture all over the place like crazy and Reese and Cyrus will be just as happy as ever. I really didn't put much effort into this one. It just wasn't for me.

+ Turkey Day - This was the worst fetch quest event so far. I didn't prepare before hand other than getting lucky with my pumpkin patch. Having to find certain fish and sea creatures was a pain, especially looking for the secret recipe. You're working against RNG here. Overall it felt like too much work to do on Thanksgiving of all days.

+ Birthday: It was a total surprise to me, especially since my birthday comes about 3 weeks after the release of the game. It's kind of modest and happens outside of normal time as they will celebrate you before you start your day. I did enjoy the K.K. surprise though. That was the most special part I think

All others:
  • Museum Day was the worst.
  • Nature Day was nothing special. Any day Leif shows up feels like it could be Nature Day.
  • Bug/Fish Competition. No longer fun like the last game. Just a dialogue fest and maybe a chance to sell some fish and bugs.
  • May Day. It was nice seeing Rover for a little bit, but I seem to miss the point of why May day was even a thing.

I made a tier list too. Bunny Day is my favorite. I don’t know why I liked it so much, but Zipper is my favorite character so that might be part of it. I like most of the other events too, and they‘re pretty much equal but I put them in different spots because it would be boring if I had everything in the same tier. Turkey Day was a little too long, but still fun. This is probably unpopular, but I prefer events that can be completed quickly.

The only events I don’t like are New Years and the fishing tourney because I can’t stand CJ. I’m still upset at New Years for locking the nook mile achievement behind staying up until midnight. I’ll always have a blank spot in my achievement cards and it bothers me, so I hate that event.

What's most important to me are the items. But I do kinda wish there was more innovation in terms of the events, instead of being the exact same as they were in previous titles. For example, I loved May Day because it was like a puzzle, and something we've never experienced in AC before, as far as I know. I guess I'm just looking for fresh ideas!

However, as long as I love the items and there's a large variety, I'm usually happy enough! I'll grind a really boring event to get those items haha. Honestly I'm more concerned about what they add to the game that will affect daily game play rather than events that last only a day.
