man this thread is so sweet, might be one of my favourite things about tbt. love how everyone celebrates eachother's small scores

I'm happy because:

- I've been getting my runs in pretty consistently! slowly but surely getting faster.
- got the chance to knock out a few art requests today. it makes me really happy I can brighten other peoples' days even a little with a favourite hobby ^_^
- sent out an important email that I've been putting off, feels great to not worry about it anymore
- been posting on tbt and playing animal crossing again lately! feels good, feels natural, I've returned to my roots haha
- I've come around on my feelings about taking time off from my studies - used to feel pretty depressed but am now seizing the opportunity to be indulgent in my hobbies and do the things I didn't have time to do

I'm still so happy about yesterday!!

I went to a maid cafe pop-up at a place that specializes in honey toast- it was delicious! I told them it was my belated birthday, and they gave me some free toast with a candle and sang a song! The maids performed dances, played games, and were suuuper sweet. I had a great time!

My friend also bought me some sailor moon lipstick from Colourpop for my belated birthday!! OMG

☾ One Piece was back with a new episode this week!! Well worth the wait, honestly.
☾ Found some forgotten and unopened tea in the cabinet today! It's passionfruit green tea and it's really good!
☾ My family and I watched Solidarity Gaming's latest episode of Empires and it was quite fun!
☾ And I played a lot more Rune Factory 5 today and successfully confessed to both of my faves!! (I did split my save file even though it's not really necessary, just 'cause I wanted to ehehe.) Anyways, I am a very happy Merielle now!! (*´꒳｀* )

Today I'm happy because:

- I had a great night's sleep and got to sleep in this morning. I felt very rested today.
- I had an extremely productive weekend. I completed almost all of my goals.
- I filed my taxes and I'm getting a good refund.
- I spent some quality time with my husband and my dog.
- My husband was very sweet to me today.
- I'm feeling more active, more flexible, and better in general since I started incorporating some yoga into my daily routine.

My man has been wearing a nicotine patch all week & has only been having a few smokes a day. I'm really proud of him cause before this he was smoking at least 15 smokes a day. He hasn't been feeling well or sleeping well without the cigerettes but he's sticking with it.

I received an amiibo card trade in the mail today, and now I only need 25 more cards total to complete my whole collection! It's been a slow process but I'm getting very close to completion and I'm very excited about it.

☾ I caught up on some extra chores that needed to be done, and sorted through a few more things I've decided to give away!
☾ Watched some Youtube with my family, and we got to see GoodTimesWithScar's second Limited Life episode!

I got my taxes finished. Really not that exciting, but it's nice getting that kind of stuff out of the way.

I got back into drawing and writing and I made great progress with a story I am writing.

Work wasn't bad today. I was expecting to walk into a mess since I was gone for two days, but it was manageable. I mean I always manage, but it was nice not having so much of a mess to deal with.

Today I'm happy because:

- I completed a fair amount of work, but even though I couldn't finish one important task I didn't let that stress me out. I logged off only a few minutes late and decided to finish things tomorrow instead of working all evening.
- I've been taking better care of myself and I'm feeling better because of it.
- I watched the newest episode of My Hero Academia.
- I had a delicious cheeseburger for dinner.
- I took a hot shower to warm up this evening.
- I started my character in FFXIV last night and I'm going to be playing more tonight. My husband started up a new character too so that we can play together. I love playing games with him and it's been a while since I've enjoyed an MMORPG.

➣ I’ve got the okay that I am indeed still going on that vacation with my mom. It’s nearly a $5,000 trip. She has business class seats (which I have yet to experience) and she’s even giving me spending money, so basically everything is paid for by her.

Another exciting thing is that she’s bringing one of her former coworkers who’s around my age and has special needs. I think we’ll get along well. We haven’t met yet but my mom wants us to meet before the trip. We both look forward to going to Starbucks upon arrival, so that should be fun. I very much look forward to meeting her.

I just have to go through the hassle of getting a “real ID” which I’ve been unable to get since my last renewal was during COVID, but things at the DMV are back to normal at least. Just a huge disappointment having to pay $30 for a birth certificate in order to get the real ID (which is now of course required to fly), but I can’t complain. The trip is practically free.

So… a lot to look forward to. Oh, and I get paid this week. I lost track of time and completely forgot about my paycheck, lol. I kept thinking it was next week.

-I ate the leftover wings from yesterday.

-Took a nap.

-Organized my items for tomorrow’s sewing class at my local library. Hopefully the rain doesn’t cancel it.

-Finally stopped procrastinating and washed the clothes from my suitcase and disinfectant the suitcase. Now I’m all done with laundry.

My first day volunteering at the pet place went well.

got home early because we started a little early and there were only 3 cats at the moment there to take care of.

There was a black male kitten named Luna, a tabby female kitten named Jassie, and a 2-3 year old big male named cowboy.

Poor Jassie was shaking and terrified. Cowboy was super friendly. We took them each out of their cages at separate times and spent time with each of them while we cleaned their cages, blankets, beds, litter, gave them fresh food and water. Luna and Jassie were both scared. Cowboy was super friendly, he looks like a cow with his black and white coloring pattern. I love him lol

Anyway, I am excited to go back next week

- I went to martial arts last night and had a great session.

- The Dallas Stars play the Seattle Kraken in Dallas tonight... looking forward to a good game.

- I've FINALLY been sleeping well intentionally over the past couple days, and today I got up early, before my alarm went off. It may not seem like much to most people, but it's HUGE for me since my sleep schedule has been messed up for the past couple years, ever since I graduated from uni and my mom died. Just got to keep this streak going.

- Work is going well and I'm having a great time.

☾ I found some new official art of one of my comfort characters!!
☾ Had time to play a little Minecraft today, so I worked on speeding up my railway! I haven't finished with it yet, but it's a lot faster than it was now. Also got an achievement for dyeing my bed while I was just trying to spruce up my living space a little, so that was pretty neat!
☾ My family and I watched SmallishBeans' most recent Limited Life episode! I've been looking forward to seeing other POVs of this part since Grian's episode the other day ahaha. We watched a few other videos too!
☾ And I got to wind down for the evening with some Rune Factory 5!

Today I'm happy because:

- I made it through another stressful work day and completed my highest priority tasks.
- The weather has started warming up again. The sun was out and it felt rather pleasant outside.
- I saw Olive, the bunny, in my backyard last night.
- I watched the squirrels and birds in my backyard while working.
- I saw a crow strutting along a roof and it just looked so adorable!
- My husband was very sweet to me.
- My dog was snuggly and playful.
- I used reward points on my credit card to get myself a Barnes & Noble gift card. I can't wait to pick out some new books.
- I have a massage therapy appointment tomorrow.

daily happies:

woke up early today and got a decent amount of studying done. leaving my apartment by 8:30am? it's possible!

even though i didn't get a perfect score on the quiz i took today, i was very close to knowing all of the information. i'm proud that i wasn't caught completely off guard like i was last time.

studied with my friend in the library today, and felt productive and energized (mostly). my job was to make sure she didn't go home at 3am and her job was to make sure i didn't leave before 10pm

my partner helped me study yesterday, which is always motivating and cute. they're being really understanding with my difficult time schedule this week, and it's taking a weight off my shoulders.

my roommate brought her pet tortoise home, and yes, the little girlie craps everywhere, but it's funny to go to wash my dishes at night and see her huddled under the dishwasher. (she likes corners.)

i'm helping my friend pick up her new cat on friday! she looks like an adorable curmudgeon (a crone, if you will) even though she's only seven months old. i hear she loves pats. i can't wait.

i've been listening to a lot of music lately, which makes me happy and helps me connect with my emotions. or, perhaps, digs up old emotions that have been buried. normally i'm too anxious to do anything except listen to podcasts and lofi (while studying), but lately i've been finding all sorts of cool songs.

🕯 my favorite podcast (knifepoint horror) released a new episode this week! the episode drops aren't too often. i liked this one -- it was short but creepy, with good acting. a slowly increasing unsettling atmosphere. also, airbnbs. they're always kinda weird.

yes, it's late, and yes, i'm going to snarfle down a subway sandwich right before going to bed. subway is unmatched. hallelujah.

-Went to my sewing class and learned that I’ve been mending ripped inseams wrong all this time.

First, you sew a straight stitch near the old inseam. About 1/4th of an inch should be fine.

Then you trim the fabric that is frayed.

Finally, sew a zigzag stitch inside the new border.

-I also asked the nice librarians what type of binding material they use for board books. Perhaps one day I will be able to protect a book from my nephew’s strength.

Despite the slightly rocky start, this trip has gone really well overall so far. I did take this same route last year (Los Angeles, California to Seattle, Washington), but it may as well been an entirely new route this time around! There was so much snow in the mountains which completely transformed the scenery, and in regards to the section before the mountains, I can't remember the last time I've seen California so green! It was once again an incredible experience. I'm currently resting up in a hotel, and while the room is a bit on the small side, it feels huge after spending two whole days in the cozy space of a roomette on the train! Part 2 (or 3 I guess, counting the trip to LA) starts tomorrow in the late afternoon, and after the scenery on this route I'm looking forward to it even more.
