If the direct goes as well as it possibly could go in your eyes, what is announced or covered? Conversely, what's your worst case scenario for the direct?

I'm really interested in hearing the extremes here. Not your most accurate prediction, but your dream and your nightmare. What are your best and worst case scenarios?

I'll post mine, but later just so people aren't tempted to reply with "same". :)

Most Optimistic:
- Brewster + Café
- At least 5 furniture series returning from previous AC games
- Nook Shop Upgrade
- New villagers
- Gyroids
- Katrina plaza visits
- KK moves to Café
- Snacks from the Café

Most Pessimistic:
- Brewster + the Café
- Some additional holiday items
- Maybe a café mini-game but that could be pushing it
- KK still in plaza
- Absolutely no mention of gyroids
- No snacks

What I would wish for would be to find out that series 5 of the amiibo cards will include all of the Welcome Amiibo villagers as well as the eight new ones for New Horizons. And the crossover villagers, in card form, especially Wolf Link. And that they'll all still be compatible with New Leaf. And that they'll restock all of them, every series, and there will be enough for everyone and the scalpers won't have any business anymore and will be ashamed of themselves.

And ALL of the New Leaf items missing from the game would be added back in.

And the Roost would be a new, complex place with at least one mini-game in it, and possibly options to obtain other new things. Maybe side quests and additional stamps to collect. Adding Desert Island Escape and the puzzle game back in would be awesome, too. Maybe there could be an arcade machine in the café.

AND Nintendo would announce that the Nintendo Switch Online service would no longer be required for people to play New Horizons with each other, and we could all play in harmony together again, for free, forever. That's my dream.

Worst Case Scenario: The Roost is just one tiny room with Brewster in it with no interactions of any kind. Just a room that looks like a café with the music, because that's what we saw in that teaser video for a few seconds. And series 5 amiibo cards are cancelled, that was a mistake. And Nintendo confirms that this will be the last update of any kind for the game, it's THE END... Other than an update that makes villagers able to move out without you telling them it's okay first, and in fact, the new update will secretly erase your save and force you to start over, because, hey, this is my nightmare. XD

best case scenario (not even a pipe dream, just flat-out never gonna happen)
-
most of the missing items (clothing and furniture) from NL return;
- most of the NPCs from NL return, including katrina, tortimer, kapp'n, the post pelicans, shrunk, gracie, the HHA crew and harriet;
- QOL features such as bulk buying, better dialogue trees, visible tool durability, multi-buying at able's;
- return of mini-games;
- a city folk style island filled with new shops, opening the gate for several missing NPCs and their roles/stores to return;
- post office opens on the right side of the airport;
- the nook store finally gets a god damn upgrade;
- villager visits at their/my house;
- villagers ask me to play hide + seek again;
- better variety of villager requests, i.e. find furniture, deliver fruit, time capsules, find x villager;
- improved villager dialogue;
- gyroids return, including the iconic brewster set from NL;
- return of perfect + tropical fruit: mangoes, lemons, durians, lychees, persimmons, bananas;
- let me sit on rocks again, thank you.

worst case scenario (rip)
- 30 minutes of just brewster.

worst case scenario (but more accurate)
- 30 minutes of mostly brewster;
- showing off the updated cafe mini-game;
- new seasonal items;
- fences can now be customized.

I am basically hoping this is Version 2.0 and not 1.12.

Optimistic
- most NPCs return (Brewster, Kapp'n, HHA Staff, Katrina, Shrunk, Gracie)
- returning villagers (and hopefully new ones)
- majority of missing items return (furniture sets, gyroids, tropical fruits, etc)
- more customization (exteriors, bigger rooms, hairstyles, fences, ceiling furniture, etc)
- more player-villager interaction (house visits, hide-and-seek, etc)
- multiplayer activities
- part-time jobs
- Nook's Cranny upgrade
- QoL (terraforming grids, diagonal paths, bulk crafting & purchasing)

Grounded on Reality

- just Brewster & Kapp'n
- returning villagers
- gyroids and probably some other returning items
- sesonal items
- a multiplayer activity

Very Pessimistic (just imagine hyping up the direct just for this)
- just Brewster
- minor Turkey Day & Toy Day additions
- seasonal items

For me the most optimistic hope is everything that's already been said, plus Tortimer's Island, unbreakable tools and the ability to mute and play music from previous games.

The most pessimistic (and realistic imo) is just talking about Brewster, a cafe mini game, and some holiday items. Maybe some qol updates but it seems like they're allergic to those or something.

Edit: Oh and kill furniture colour-locking forever.

I don’t play anymore, but Tortimer’s Island is a must. That was such a fun feature of New Leaf. I’d waste so much time on that island playing mini games and talking with random users over WiFi.

Optimistic

Brewster with mini games
Being able to buy the sandwiches, donuts and drinks the villagers walk around with from Brewster.
being able to have 5 more villagers
Rugs can be placed outside
The return of all the NL furniture
The return of the missing NPC’s
Tortimers island and mini games
The return of the missing fruit from NL
No more color locking in

More realistic

Brewster with a mini game you win food items
Some new seasonal items for turkey day and toy day.
Gyroids

worst case scenario
Brewster only lets you buy a coffee with no mini game
They announce it’s the last update

Since the cafe is likely to go into the museum, which won't mess up layouts, I don't mind getting Brewster. I'd also like bulk crafting/purchasing options. A few new harvest bounty diy's would be fun, too.

I would not like more plots. I'm very happy with 10, and I don't want the game trying to force me to move more villagers in.

Most optimistic:
Brewster gives both DIYs (sweets set?) and unorderable furniture (café furniture) for helping him somehow
gyroids return
villager house visits
cooking and farming is introduced

Most pessimistic:
just brewster and blablabla about the new amiibos, ‘this is the last update’

Looks like the Direct will be about 20 minutes long on October 15th at 7am PST. Hoping to see more than just Brewster, would love to see more Nook Miles items or rewards, mini-games, increasing max villager count.

Most optimistic (but impossible): Brewster/Roost, K.K. moves to the Roost, gyroids, Series 5 with 100 cards and at least 83 villagers, including the 8 new ones and all of the remaining villagers being either completely new or GC/e+ exclusives, a city-like area (accessible via Kapp'n at the pier) giving us access to Gracie and other cut special characters, some/all old furniture series returning with a new Nook's Cranny shop upgrade, fence customization, rugs placed outside, potential to add two new villager slots.

Most optimistic (realistically): Brewster/Roost, gyroids, Series 5 with 100 cards and 82-83 villagers, including the 8 new ones and all of the remaining villagers being either completely new or GC/e+ exclusives. Maybe fence customization or the addition of new crops.

Most realistic: Brewster/Roost, Series 5 with 100 cards and 82-83 villagers, including the 8 new ones, 50 WA, and the remaining villagers being either completely new or GC/e+ exclusives.

Most pessimistic: Brewster/Roost, the only villagers in Series 5 contains villagers already in NH (8 new ones and maybe the 50 WA) and no new/returning villagers (or at least none that I like :P), adding crossover villagers, showcasing Turkey Day and new Nook Stop items.

Whatever they give us will be more than what we had so that's awesome. I hope, it's significant. Hope for the best, be prepared for the worst. lol

My optimistic and pessimistic are one in the same: That we only get stuff we've been expecting from the datamines.

A lot of that stuff would be great to have, but Directs are usually fun because of surprises, so I'm hoping there will be more to it than the things we already kind of know about.

Im being positive of more seasonal/special items being added for the upcoming seasons.

Im less optimistic about any other new characters being added other than brewster.
And sadly i dont think they will bring back the beloved gyroids, i think they will save them for a future update.

Most optimistic - They've remade NL with the NH engine and it'll be paid DLC

Most pessimistic - Nintendo releases whatever disappointment they're about to release
