I've heard a lot about stardew valley and it looks really fun, its like if terraria and animal crossing had a baby😂

It's 15 dollars on the Nintendo eshop, and I thinking of buying it but I want to know what people that play the game think of it. What is the gameplay like? What are the controls like? That kind of stuff. And is it worth buying? Lmk what you guys think! I'd love to know :)

For 15$ I'd say yes it is def worth buying if you like to play games like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory. The controls took me a while to learn cause I didn't read a guide or anythin, even thou I think one of the loadimg screens has a guide for the controls on it whoops. Plus, the creator ConcernedApe is making some new content, thou it's not yet released for Switch yet. I'm actually not sure if it is released at all yet.

HOWEVER, DO KEEP IN MIND because the game is originally on PC, it is very moddable. On Switch it is really hard, and chances are you may have seen heavily modded screenshots of the game. Everythin from amount of pets we can own, house exterior, some NPCs (this is rare but still happens) furniture, other random stuff like that. Alot of that is mods. Take any screenshot you see with a g r a i n of salt, because chances are you can't get it in game. The game is still plenty playable without mods and still worth it. There are in game cheats and exploits if you're into to that.

One thing I agree with people, the day and night cycle is just a little too fast for me, I wish it was just somewhat slower. Fishing is a royal NIGHTMARE but there are works arounds (not in the cheating exploring nature kind, like natural game play work arounds). Since the game has been out for a good while, there are plenty of guides floating around online (there's even a forum site and a community on Steam plus there's players on this site as well). All in all, totally worth the 15$ if you like those types of games.

I don't know what types of games you prefer, but if you like Animal Crossing, then chances are you'll like Stardew Valley as well. I've been playing it for a few years (on both PC and Switch) and I actually think the game is worth more than just $15, hence why I bought it twice lol.

There are a lot of mods on PC like the person above me mentioned, but I've never used a single mod and I haven't had much trouble playing the game. Some things can just take some time getting used to, that's all. The gameplay is very simple in my opinion, but it can seem overwhelming at first because there's so much you can do. Just take your time with it. It's one of my favorite games ever, so I'm definitely a little biased, but I cannot recommend it enough.

For that price, yeah, it's worth grabbing. I got it as something to do before NH came out, and I haven't really played it much since.

It has a cute story, and I like it, but it was a bit too stressful at times, with the time cycles, having to get things done within a certain time limit, and I'm not even going to start on the fishing. I finally started ignoring the requests and did farming on my own time, which made it a lot easier.

Stardew Valley is great. You probably won't find a single other $15 video game that gives you that much bang for the buck. You can get so many hours of fun out of it. It also is STILL getting free updates even though the game has been out for years now.

I don't get the complaints for the night and day cycle. Sure, it's short, but it's comparable to other farming games, like Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons. But also, the game doesn't force you to do anything at a certain pace. If it takes you a long time to get things done, that's fine. Also, time does not pass when you are in the menus. Go into a menu if you need time to think about what you want to do next without wasting time.

I don't run too many mods for Stardew Valley, but fishing is definitely one of them. The mod I use makes it super easy. I just don't like how fishing works in this game.

Overall I recommend the PC version the most, because of the mods and because it's the main/original version of Stardew Valley. All updates come to the PC version first and every other platform later. But the Switch version is probably the next best version due to being able to play TV or handheld.

I'd recommend Stardew to anyone who enjoys farming simulation games! I'm on a little ACNH hiatus because I don't know what else to do with my island at the moment, so I've gone back and started a new Stardew farm. Even after all these years, I still think it has a lot of replay value. I don't have it on PC so I can't run all the cool mods but honestly the Switch version/vanilla version is plenty fun to play. The only thing that stresses me out is the time cycles, especially getting all your croplands ready at the beginning of every month 😨 But you get used to it! Also not sure if it's your thing but Stardew multiplayer is really fun!

i loved the game on pc and played for hundreds of hours. bought the game on the switch and haven't played a lot because i just wasn't as into it and i found the switch controls to be a bit annoying.

however, it is a great game and especially during my first play through it was a magical experience and so much fun. it's not an expensive game and it's so worth it, if you are interested in playing it i say go for it! it was all the hype when it came out (like what, over 3 years ago? ahhh time) but really, it was well worth the hype in my opinion.

the controls aren't too bad, i just thought the difference between pc and switch was annoying. it's harder to aim on the switch than on pc and some stuff like that

Stardew for me is like Harvest Moon DS which I LOVED. I'm not a fan of the 3D new Harvest Moon games (Story of Seasons, technically) so it was nice to go back to the pixel days lol.

The one thing I don't like about it is how you can't run like you could in Harvest Moon DS. Otherwise I'd definitely say grab it if you like these types of games!

Hmm let's say for me it didn't last forever with the fun. I got bored of it in 3 weeks....but it's an okay game for people who likes relaxing games

It's pretty fine on the console. Personally I get 100 hours out of the game for each farm / save file. You can't decorate as much as in AC though.

I think it's fine! It's a pretty clear homage to Harvest Moon games which I think is nice. You can choose to play it super optimally or just have fun at your own pace. I haven't played in a while because I wasn't making a lot of money in game and got frustrated lol.

i love this game! i absolutely love the characters (my heart belongs to penny 🥺 ) and it's such a fun game! it's great to play when having a bit of acnh burnout. i'm currently trying to marry penny, but i don't have the house upgrade with the kitchen which is required for marriage. i'm too broke :'( overall, i love the feature with the cutscenes when you get to a certain friendship level with someone! i'm just really sad i picked the forest farm, i have too many trees and i don't know how to get rid of them and it stresses me out a lot.

I initially wasn't sold on it, but when I watched a let's play of it, I was intrigued. Will probably get it for PC if it ever goes on sale.

I have Stardew Valley on PC and on my phone. It does get very dull after you finish the main end goal of it although you can continue to play it afterwards to get the max out other stuff. I prefer it on PC because there are lots of free mods to give the game more content like adding more NPCs and areas to explore. Or more end game content. It's great for the phone because I just want to play it for a bit to pass the time while waiting for something else I strongly recommend the PC version more because of mods.

Get. It.

It's super addicting and fun plus has a lot of longevity and ways to play the game, it's awesome and i'm glad I purchased it on the sale!

Yes, I would defiantly buy it. I got it on the switch and it is really great. It amazes me that the whole game was made by one guy, and I mean everything from the music to the graphics and the dialogue.

this kinda game is usually right up my alley but i was really surprised that i didn't enjoy it that much when i tried it out. granted i didn't play for too long but i didn't really feel compelled to keep going. i think that might just be down to personal taste rather than the quality of the game, or maybe because i played the switch version idk

i can definitely see why people adore this game though, clearly a lot of love has gone into it and it seems to have taken the best parts from its inspirations and then added to them. if i had a decent PC to play it on then i'd probably give it another go

i hate it tbh. those types of games always put me to sleep and i'm always bored out of my mind. its funny, because i play animal crossing and minecraft (although minecraft isn't all too similar in my opinion). i wanted to like it, but it was just very very boring to me when i tried it.
