What are your opinions on the villager personalities?

I'm kinda iffy with the smug, snooty, and jock personalities, TBH. If given to the right villager, one of those personalities could become my best friend! Marshal and Raymond are great smug villagers, Francine and Mint are great snooties, and Jitters and Tiansheng are great jocks! Then there's Rodney and Quillson, the smugs from hell, Maelle and Bree, who are just really ugly, and all the other jocks are crap. The other personalities are great, no matter who has what.

I really don’t like jocks and never have them in my town. I like the uchi personality but I’ve never liked any uchi villagers designs so I don’t have any of them either. Snooty is the only other one I’m iffy about. I have Vivian but she’d be the first to go if I wanted a new villager.

Oh boy where do I even begin? Well I will give my opinions on what I think of them. This is my own opinion.

Jocks: I don't care for them. They all talk about their muscles and their workout in every sentence I cannot stand them.

Lazy: Meh all they ever talk is about their bug friends and food in every sentence. Trust me I would not recommend them.

Snooty: They are alright, they care mostly about their fashion and makeup so they are not too bad.

Peppy: Eh...all they ever talk about is being famous and being a popstar. Its unoriginal and it makes them not that interesting.

Sisterly: They are my favorite and they are more honest with themselves. This is underrated because there are not much villagers with this.

Normal: They are shy, but they are the nicest villagers you can talk to, although sometimes they do talk about doing chores and cooking.

Smug: They are full of themselves, but they admit when they are wrong most of the time. I like this one because it has more in depth character to them.

Cranky: They act more like boomers who complain about everything being too complicated these days, but I like them

For me all personalities have positive and negative attributes. Some personalities are more tolerable than others. Normals are a little boring for me, but I know many users on here like them. Some personalities have too much representation, like Lazies. Others, like the Sisterly personality could use a tad more representation. The personality I like the most is Smug. The one I like the least is Jock. This is of course is just taking in account the personality by itself. Some Jocks are my favourite villagers. Tiansheng is my favourite monkey villager and he is a Jock, so a good design can outweigh a bad personality in my opinion. In the future, I hope that they rework personalities to be more complex and give villagers more depth and uniqueness.

Jocks are my favorite personalities by far. Sure, they talk about sports a lot but lazy villagers talk about bugs/food a lot… and lazy types aren’t nearly as hated as jocks. I don’t mind any personalities except snooties. I strongly dislike snooty villagers. I never have any snooties on my island/town, and if I end up with one I’m quick to boot them.

Jocks and Lazies are the best personalities in the game in my opinion. Peppy, Snooty, Cranky and Smug are alright, though Snooties and Crankies could really be a bit more mean or stand-offish. The only one I'm really bored with is the Normal personality... which is such a shame because the Normal personality has the most adorable villagers!

I know I said this in another thread, but I'll say it again here. I really hope in the next mainline AC game they would try and at least improve the villagers personality because making 413 villagers and letting them have the same personality really isn't enough to branch out and try new ideas with new personalities and animal species. I am also shocked that I didn't even know that villagers from the original AC never made an appearance but some of them were brought back, but again the personalities are all the same. Maybe I would be more excited for the new villagers have the personalities been new. I am not hating, I am just being really honest here.

I think they're nice, and my favorite types are sisterly and cranky! I think it would be cool to let villagers take on personalities regardless of gender. For instance, sisterly could be brotherly and I feel like a lazy girl villager could be really fun to relax with (maybe she would talk about laying down on the beach all day long or forgetting to put her clothes away). This might not work in Japanese though, since personal pronouns (which are gendered and of varying degrees of casualness) and speech patterns were used to differentiate amongst different personality types.

My favorite personality is sisterly but there aren't many sisterlys.
I think the personality I like the least are lazies because of all the bug talk or the jocks because of the sweat talk. It's just odd or gross, depending.
Crankiest would probably be my least liked if the lazies and jocks we're cleaned up a bit.
I don't dislike any personality to where I wouldn't have them on my island though. I think the design of the villager is more important to me in that aspect and it would seem off to me if I didn't have all the personalities.

Villagers are mostly window-dressing to me so I don't have very strong opinions either way, but I like sisterly, snooty, smug and lazy (I play in Japanese, so I don't have to listen to them talk about bugs all the time) the most. I find normal and cranky fairly boring.

It all just comes to dialogue rather than design for me.

Personally the main issue for me is that, personalities have become too stereotyped. Lazies always think of bugs, Jocks always talk about muscles, Peppies and Smugs keep talking about their [nonexistent] popstar/acting careers, Snooties bragging about their purse collection, and Normal villagers are so sweet they are bland. I think Cranky and Sisterly are just right.

Although, if you keep talking to them several times, there are actually some good dialogue in there. Kinda wish you'd encounter those more than their generic ones.

i wouldn't say i actively dislike any of them, but my least favorites are uchi and cranky. partly because neither personality has designs that appeal to me and partly because i just don't jive with the dialogue. a lot of people say they dislike jocks, and they would probably be down there for me too with most villager designs, but i adore kid cat, and bill is pretty cute too. (as you can see, villager designs play a big role for me.) i don't care massively for the smugs, but i loved marshal in NL, and i've fallen in love with henry in NH. peppy is mid-tier for me, largely because it has a pool of great designs -- cookie, ketchup (who i have), chrissy, ruby etc. i imagine they can be pretty annoying if you have a bunch of them at once, but i only have the one, and she's fine. snooty and normal are just above mid-tier, although the latter feels watered down, repetitive and sickeningly sweet in NH, so i don't care for them quite as much, but they're still fine. again, both personalities have a great design pool. lazy is my favorite personality, but generally pre-NH. they... really messed them up in this game with all the bug and stain talk. i really loved and related to them in NL when they were more like little kids or adults who kept their childish ways, not just straight up gross. (although i still have four of them on my island lol.)

i’m not opposed to having them on my island, but i’ve never cared for the jock or smug personalities much — most of their designs and their dialogue just don’t appeal to me. some of my favourite villagers have one of those personalities, though (rudy, bam and zell, to name a few). as for the other personalities, i really like them and don’t mind them at all, with normal and lazy being my favourites. :’)

i refuse to have a jock on my island. i kept the one i got as a starter until i got all the jock reactions and then never again lmao. shut up about ur muscles no one cares

I tend to keep at least one of each on my island, because the dialogue is SO REPETITIVE id rather repeat 8 different categories than a few lol, but I hate hate hate all NH personalities. I just wish they were so stereotyped and so boring.

If I HAD to pick one I would pick peppy's, snooty's or normals. For boys, the cranky's.

Rodney was the straw that broke the camel’s back for my friend. She wasn’t quite loving the game anyway and then got “an ugly blue hamster-thing” and was all done.

Quillson was on my island until I broke my “no time travelling” rule just to get rid of him. My final straw with him was when he started telling me that he was having “feelings” which is just gross. Animal crossing? More like animal crossing the line!

Normal types are my favorite; I understand why people would find them boring, but they are so sweet! I like many of the hobbies that they like as well. Sisterly/uchi villagers are a close second and/or tied. I also like cranky villagers.

I don't like lazy, smug, snooty, or peppy villagers as much as normal or uchi, but I still like them. Jock types are probably my least favorite, except I do have Roald (and intend to keep him forever) on my island because he's freaking adorable.

The jocks are always terrible for me. I love most of the snooty, sisterly, lazy, and normal villagers. With the smugs, I think depending on the villager, you either love them or you hate them with no in-between. Peppies are ok, but I don't love them. I hate cranky villagers in general, but I had Roscoe on my old island and I really liked him.

The only one I can't really warm to is the Lazy personality. No idea why lots of the villagers are very cute but I usually end up letting them go whenever they ask to leave.
