hiii everyone!
so, i have a question for all of you.
what made you want to play animal crossing? why did the game appeal to you? how is it different from all the other games you could've bought?

personally, i started animal crossing because i absolutely love animals. that was just a selling point for me, when i saw it was based around animals.
plus, it just seemed different and interesting! i mean, come on. living in a town full of animals? i don't think i've seen that one before.
another thing, was the graphics. not saying they're good now, since compared to animal crossing nh none of the old games can compete. but the designs, of the animals and characters, are extremely unique. like, there is no other game with those kind of aesthetics.

i'm excited to read all of your experiences! thank you for reading <33

I was bored with Nintendogs and googled ds games back in 2005 and came across Wild World.

It sounded like the perfect game for me, with fishing and all the other stuff, plus the graphics looked awesome for back then, so I bought it and loved it. :)

It got to be a grind after five years so I deleted my town and took a long break.

Six or seven years later, I bought New Leaf and loved that too.

Deleted that town after a year or so for personal reasons and now waiting for New Horizons.

I began playing Animal Crossing originally because my brother recommended it to me and let me start up a town on his copy for the GameCube. He told me that I got to live in a town with talking animals and that was all it took to peak my interest. I love animals so much and playing Animal Crossing was like a dream for me. I'd love to live there in real life.

Animal Crossing was a really unique game for me because of the play-style. It wasn't like anything I had played before. I mostly played fighting games, RPGs, racing games, puzzle games and platformers. I loved it, though. I was so excited to log in just to chat with my villagers and send them letters. That has always been my main focus more so than progressing in other areas of the game. I do work on paying off my loans, decorating my house and completing my museum, but my villagers always have and always will come first.

I just of happened to get the game as a gift. I have never been one to like games where "killing" is the focus, or fast-paced games in general. Animal Crossing does not have those, plus it lets me express my love of fashion and decorating.

I bought a DS with one of those hacked cartridges that have a ton of games on them, mainly to play Pok?mon and some others. But animal crossing wild world was also on there, and I instantly got hooked and played that game the most out of all the games. It was fun too because I got another one of my school friends into the game so we would often play together. The peaceful world and cute animals was enough to make me fall in love, and the calming soundtrack was one of my favourite parts! I didn’t play ACWW to any sort of completion but remembering the good times is what got me ultimately hooked again when new leaf came out. I love the ACNL for the same reasons as ACWW, but I definitely stuck with this one all these years because of the online community.

I just kinda came across it randomly way back in 2014, I was actually on the search for adventure/rpg games and for some reason google pulled up animal crossing (new leaf). So I thought "WOAH, game where you adventure AND have a town full of cute animals?!" As i watched gameplay it was all just people doing their everyday town maintenance I was wondering when they'd finally get to the questing and adventure part but found out shortly after that the game was ALL chores and not adventure in the slightest. I still found it cute and kinda wacky so I bought it anyways. Absolutely LOVED it and spent every single day playing it. I'd even wake up at 7am sharp just so i could play and get the daily maintenance done.

God bless animal crossing, honestly.

i can't even remember how i stumbled across it because i'd never heard of the series prior to buying it, but at the time i was super into any townbuilding type games (i had this really fun sims game on ds that i dearly miss and can't remember the name of), so decided to get it. and here i am!

Well, I picked up my brothers' copy of City Folk way back when just out of curiosity. The reason I stuck with the franchise and gravitated me towards more of its games was for various reasons:

1. It was relaxing, and I needed it. The simple playstyle was both beautiful yet simple, and it really helped me put the whole world aside for a while.
2. I loved the atmosphere. The gentle music, the colors, the world everything took place in, as well as the simpleminded yet kind villagers, really just drew me in. But I like those kinds of peaceful, lackadaisical aesthetics in movies, books, and other games, so it doesn't surprise me that I got into Animal Crossing.
3. The real-time gameplay was also something I had never played prior to City Folk. I loved playing platformers, so I didn't play too many RPGs at the time. When it rained in my town for the first time well it was raining outside in real life, I remember my younger self getting really excited for no reason, lol.

Overall, Animal Crossing was unique, but it fit my personality and interests. That's why I'm still plugging along in New Leaf after all this time. I don't think I'll ever really stop playing Animal Crossing games.

I actually started playing Animal Crossing just because i wanted to know how the game looked like. I had zero idea of how to play the game at first, but then i started to find reasons why i keep playing it; cute animals and full customization

I probably wouldn't have played Animal Crossing if it wasn't for my cousin. Typically every year for Christmas we go to visit them in Canada. Normally I'd play Nintendo Dogs, but once I saw the cute characters in Wild World I was solllldddd. Literally that SAME afternoon my mom took me to go purchase the game!

i was a child when i first got wild world so i don’t remember what attracted me to it but it was probably all the animals on the cover lol

The trophies in Smash Bros. Melee were so odd that I wanted to know what the heck an Animal Crossing was, so ine thing led to another.

I thought the game just looked adorable! City Folk was a pretty cool title (my 1st game hehe) and I loved the back of the box saying what the game would be like and it was then that I wanted it. Also I think the villagers attracted me to the game as well!

My cousins introduced me to the game. They could care less about it now while I'm over here with an Animal Crossing tattoo lol I've been obsessed ever since, though.

My now ex best friend introduced it to me and I got hooked to it. Still am attached to it even though her and I aren't friends anymore.

My cousins introduced it to me. All I saw was cute animals and I was instantly sold.
It's a shame i barely got to play the GC version once a week for less than a few hours. The gc wasn't even mine. I spent a lot of time watching my older cousins play.

I played a demo in a store and immediately loved it. I think it was the calm and casual aspect about it, I think I don't even met a villager while trying the game out. I just loved fishing and running around.

I have been playing since I received a gamecube and this game as a child, so it's been a long time, but I believe I must of thought it would be cool to "play house" with these animal friends :p

My at this time best friend had it on her DS (Wild World) and I really liked how it looked.
So luckily my parents gave me a DS Lite + Wild World for christmas and so I was able to play with her. :3
Another friend of me had a cheating module tho and we cheated quite a bit in that game :x
