What books are good?

Again, the Gone series is absolutely amazing, 10/10 would recommend. I also really enjoyed the Uglies Trilogy when I was your age, and I've recently read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.

I know this is probably going to sound lame, but I think any body who reads can enjoy Stephen King at any age.

He is very easy to read, and has one of the most explosive and amazing imaginations of any body I've ever read. I've been reading his short stories lately, and every single one is an amazing story of wildly weird stuff. When I was 13 I read Christine and Pet Sematery, and those were the most amazing books I've read at that age. Of all the books I've read growing up, and there are a LOT of them, those ones stand out to me really well.

A lot of people call him a "horror" writer, but there is way more to him than that. His characters, his way of putting you into peoples minds, and his beautifully crafted environments make him a sum greater than all the parts. I would definitely check him out if I were you, ESPECIALLY if you liked Harry Potter.

What books would you recommend? I'm a 13 year old girl and I currently like Harry Potter. And Dork Diaries is okay too. But I seriously need to read different things so can someone please reccomend some decent books to read :)
Mm... something with wizards and magic, and decent. Try Jonathan Stroud's The Amulet of Samarkand. If you end up liking it, also pick up The Golem's Eye and Ptolemy's Gate to complete the trilogy. Here is a snippet of description for the trilogy from Wikipedia:

The novels are set in London in an alternate history, though many countries, cities, events, and people are from actual history (such as Prague, Solomon, the Holy Roman Empire, William Ewart Gladstone, Benjamin Disraeli, the American Revolution, etc.). The books presume the idea that magic, magicians, and demons have been active throughout history, radically altering it. In particular these changes are reflected in the contrast between modern aspects (such as electricity and cars) and older ones (colonial-era weapons including muskets). The current time is never directly stated. The books incorporate references to various world mythologies and folklore, such as the Arabian Nights and Homer.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartimaeus_Sequence#Bartimaeus_trilogy

The main protagonist (or, in my mind, an antagonist), Nathaniel, was given away by his impoverished family to a wizard who raised him under strict standards that at times border on abuse and slavery. However, that wizard, Arthur Underwood, gives Nathaniel access to the most powerful people in London, and with that the ambition to join their ranks. Soon, Nathaniel would make a name for himself, and to do so he becomes learned beyond his years, and summons the mid-ranked demon Bartimaeus to do his bidding. This 'bidding' includes stopping a highly skilled wizard in the high ranks of British government from overthrowing the current rulers.

"Dante and Aristotle Discover the Secrets of the Universe" is one of my favourite books of all time, it's such a beautiful story and the ending made me cry.

The Percy Jackson series is pretty amazing. Watership Down is another great novel, and it's bunnies!

Definitely the Narnia series.

There's a fun series called the Wishcraft Mysteries you could try.

Tolkien is always a good choice. The movies don't cover everything.

One series that I recently finished was the Shades of Magic series by V.E Shcwab (the first book is called a Darker Shade of Magic c;) I came off the series with a book hangover D; It's basically a fantasy book about magic, but what I loved about this book is the relationships made and how each character kind of had their own version of the story so you're really able to understand the characters (protagonist and antagonist)
:3

I also really liked the Peaches series by Jodie Lynn Anderson

I dont read that many books, and when i do, i like short-to medium books not in a series.

One of my favorite books is Diary Of an Oxygen Thief. Its about this mess of an alcoholic womanizer and progresses through the atart of his business life till he gets a bit older. its been a long time since ive read it, but ill re read it again. highly reccommend.

i really like graphic novels, and my favorite is cryptozoa. each page is an illustrated short story, and its really charming. its also very easy on the mind and eyes.

tip- never go to barnes and noble. when i went there on black friday, NOTHING at all was on sale. stick to secondhand book shops and libraries, seriously. every year, when my family takes a trip to a big city, i save up a ton of money and go to small bookstores in the city because the selection back home is small
