What did you/want to study at college/university?

I studied cyber security at Coventry university here in England. I loved it. Was taught networking, cryptography, programming and digital forensics to name a few topics.

yooooo i'm currently studying cyber security at my local college, i should have my associate's by next year so i have a long way to go as i wanna get at least a bachelor's but still 😅

my dream field was originally something in the medical or forensics field so i was hoping to maybe still work in that field but on the cyber security side instead lol

Can non-college goers post in here? I actually have a bit to say on this topic even if I didn’t attend college and have no plans to ever attend college. I was never interested in college and got a job straight out of high school.

I don’t think college is worth it 99% of the time. There are exceptions to that but it’s very rare. You can find decent paying jobs without a degree. I actually think my dream job would be a floor detailer — y’know, those guys that travel from store to store and deep clean everything. I’m pretty sure you need to attend trade school for that, and I can’t be bothered. I just work regular cleaning jobs, and voluntarily go above and beyond.

I’m not here or anything to bash someone for going to college or wanting to go. It was just never for me because what I wanted to do in life did not require a college degree, and I can do without the massive debt. Either way, I’m very content with my life traveling and visiting the places you read about in school.

I’ve finally found someone who studied the same subject as me 🤣🤣

I never ever planned on doing cyber security, I was always into computers through my dad but never the security aspect of it. Glad I did it though, I loved it!

I graduated with a Bachelors and I hope you do too! The medical profession is in need of people like us for sure! 🙂

I can 100% see where you’re coming from. The debt is a pain in the *** and you’re right you don’t need a degree for a good job, a lot of my friends didn’t bother with either sixth form or university and still done well for themselves :)

I’m in 10th grade rn, but I know I want to study Musical Theatre, Psychology, and maybe Korean. Mom and Dad, have fun saving that money lol

I've gotten my BSc in veterinary medicine, now I'm halfway through my MSc in veterinary medicine. When I graduate I'll be a qualified veterinarian. My minor shall be in animal welfare. :)

Congratulations mate! A very good degree to graduate with. Good luck for the future!

I've been in school basically my entire life. I have a broad range of interests when it comes to education and so have an education in Early Childhood Education and Veterinary Tech, and I'm now getting my education in Diagnostic Sonography. After I get this degree I think I'll be done with school because I think it's time I finally set on a career!

I studied some psychology but took a couple years off due to mental health. Going back this semester to finish up my degree! I hope to be a child psychologist one day :~)
After i'm done with psychology i'm kind of intrigued to start some nursing classes as well.

reading this thread, im so amazed by the people who go back to school multiple times for different degrees. i wish i had that kind of willpower and attention because i'd love to study multiple topics but i'm afraid of wasting my money and ending up with a degree i dont use XD

I graduated after studying business administration, but I wanted to study zoology or exotic animal management. However, animal husbandry careers are sadly severely underpaid. It’s very disheartening when your love and passion can not provide you with a stable living and future. I would be working well below a living wage and I live in a state that has a very high cost of living. I would be in poverty, so in order to have a more decent financial life I had to rethink everything. I do want to retire one day. My goals have definitely changed because of that. My hope is to continue my volunteer work with wildlife and eventually get into doing ambassador work with ambassador animals in sanctuaries and teaching the public about why these species are important and why we should be caring about our environment. I would be pretty happy to get out of banking and maybe work remotely with a non profit and then volunteer with wildlife outside of work.

I don’t enjoy the medicine side of animal science and animal care so being a vet was never an option for me. I don’t mind administering medicine and treating aliments and wounds, but I don’t like much else in animal medicine.

Hello fellow animal lover! I’d love to pick your brain sometime on this subject. I turned away from zoology/animal care due to the poor pay. I can’t do medicine because I think it’s too overwhelming for me, but I have such a huge passion for animal welfare and rehabilitation. My dream is to work in education with animal ambassadors. I know I can achieve that goal through volunteer time and self studies. I would just love to pick your brain about things.

I studied Law so I have a Bachelor of Laws. I also have a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice and I'm waiting to be admitted as a lawyer.

I've just began studying for my Master's in Law.

Currently majoring in Justice Studies with no set minor as of now.
Good luck! 🙂

Bachelor's Degree in Biology 😄 It's not too specialized but honestly I had a lot of fun learning something I'm really passionate about. I loved reading academic books, going on fieldworks, and researching stuff! I also proposed my own thesis and it while it was stressful, it was hella interesting. Now I'm a postgrad working to become a doctor of medicine, and while I don't really hate what I'm doing, I do miss studying non-human biology!

Next month I'm working part-time as a tutor in microbiology so it's something to look forward to in the midst of medicine.

I'm an English major and keep flip-flopping my minors around. I'll need two to satisfy graduation requirements. First, I did Creative Writing, then added Japanese, but they stopped offering Japanese online after the pandemic, so I dropped it. Swapped Creative Writing for Technical Writing because I figured it made more sense. If I want to become a novelist or pursue a career of Creative Writing, I figure I won't necessarily need a degree for it, and Technical Writing is more useful on a resumé. Also chose Women's Studies.

Good luck to you! I love biology, was my favourite science to study back in school :)

I've a Bachelor of Arts (main/major's Film Studies), with Literature studies as a minor. Film's always been a huge interest and my literature class was good so, ey.

Realized I had enough points to apply for one while I was searching for jobs before when I got some help with that so it's nice to have.
