In both literature and media, we see a lot of things with references to something else. But some things are more referenced than others (which includes adaptations). In your opinion, what do you think has more allusions to than anything else? Like a book, play, movie etc.

In my opinion, I don't think anything has been referenced to anymore than Ancient Greece and Greek Culture. If you have noticed, a lot of brands are named after something from the Greek Mythology, and there are words with Greek roots (like Bio-, Geo-, and Dys-). Even today's architecture has some Greek influence. The Greek Parthenon in Athens inspired many buildings, including the Supreme Court. And we can never forget about the most widely anticipated sporting event (the Olympics). It was revived in 1896, which was a long time after the last of the original Greek Olympics. There's more to say, but I don't think anything has been more referenced than Ancient Greece.

You may disagree with this, but this is just my opinion on that.

Classical culture is so much referenced that it almost doesn't count.

I'm going to say King Arthur. People have been referencing King Arthur for centuries and it's great because it was never a religion or culture or even considered real, it's just a story that people have been telling over and over for generations and generations.
