What do you use the ignore feature for?

I have @Pierrot blocked because he stole all my socks.

Typically, I suggest two users block each other if they are unable to have a civil conversation without it escalating into an argument, or if they are repeatedly goading and/or being goaded by the other person.

Ey! No specific cases please! Just kidding. It’s an NPC account.

I still wouldn’t block people for political reasons, but the only times I would do it are 1) if they’re being very rude to me, 2) if they’re being hypocrites, or 3) they think I am a troll or think I should get banned from this site for being conservative. Other than that, it wouldn’t matter if they disagree with me. Because of my conservative views, I’m pretty much in the minority.

I've actually never blocked someone on here before. Club Tortimer is a completely different story though... I have so many players blocked.

I've never blocked/ignored any user, and I hope I never will, but I do understand those wanting to ignore people who always try to shove political views down their throats, especially when they're so hypocritical about it.

For my greatest enemies at first. But now I realize (And it's my opinion) that the ignore feature serves no purpose.

I don't use it here on TBT, but on discord I tend to block/ignore people in larger servers that excessively ping everyone, but I'm also slightly obsessive over notifications being clean and tidy.

I usually just disable role pings/everyone ping notifications because of it.

Anyways, I have blocked some people but I usually click the "show ignored content" to see what they posted and stuff.

I haven't ignored / blocked anyone, but I probably would if they're rude enough towards me cause I'm sensitive lol.

ahh yeah that wasn't always an option (it would still show the red marker which bothered me lol) so it was the easiest solution at the time.

Personally, no matter how much anyone annoys me, I usually never block someone because I wan to see what kind of mess they get themselves into.
lmao definitely have stopped myself from blocking some people because of this
aside from the reasons others have mentioned - people who i consider spammers/generally exhibit immature behavior.

I don't use it and probably never will, but I think anybody should be allowed to use it however they want to. I'm in no position to tell anybody how they should or shouldn't make their own experience on the forum more enjoyable so long as they're not being malicious.

In regards to blocking people over politics, I think it's fine and normal. Politics is really not a subject everybody wants to read about, especially when they come to TBT, so it's only natural that they'd wanna go out of their way to avoid it. It's unfair to force people to look at any kind of discussion they don't want to and criticize them when they choose to remove it from their feed.

i only have like 3 on my ignored list, and thats because their interactions w me were pretty rude and demanding, and they didnt really follow any etiquette (no hellos, pleases, or thank yous just very forceful and unprovoked), so it made me pretty uncomfortable and put me in an unwanted situation,, ( ;・∀・)

generally, you should just be able to put anybody on ignore if they're bothering you, that's why the function exists.. i think tbt is full of pleasant people so hopefully, it won't be necessary too often.

I only ignore people I have zero interest in communicating with anymore. Not interested in reaquainting with people who irritate me, no matter what the reason.

I ignore people who may bother, harass, or act creepy. I come here to have fun so when people post creepy images or purposefully come after other users in a harmful manner then I ignore them. It hasn't been often that I do ignore people but I will act when I want to protect my mental health against destructive people

I didn't realize there was an ignore feature tbh. Even so, I definitely have a few users I get annoyed of when reading the ACNH board, but no one has harassed me or anything so far that I would consider using that feature. I wouldn't expect it here.

Yes they can be offensive and hurtful, and yes it makes total sense to not want to see that on an Animal Crossing forum, (and I've yet to witness anyone directly attack what matters most to me), but I guess it's my personal choice to keep the stuff on my feed, even if I disagree strongly. The Animal Crossing part of our lives is not mutually exclusive with the rest of it; you express some of who you are as a person and what you have experienced in anything you do, like or say, even the jokes you make on topics that are relatively niche in the grand scheme of things.

And despite operating under a title WAY too many people have used unjustly to abuse and dehumanize those who can't control what they are, I want to understand people and why they think or believe what they do, how they see the situation, what their struggles are to be known and understood and accepted in a broken, confusing world. Ideally, I want to learn how to love others as I am loved, not hiding who I am, but also being careful how I talk about it because of what awful things other people who share my beliefs might have done because they lacked the most important part - love. That may not mean I ever agree with others on a lot of things, but it still requires listening to those who aren't like me and don't think like I do, and contemplating how their life matters just as much as mine for the one to whom I report.

If it weren't for reading conversations on this forum, I don't think I'd be as willing to use they/them pronouns for people like I now do. I continue to learn. I believe many people are capable of learning something new if you show them patience, gentleness, kindness. For that reason, I would rather try to discuss something, or think about their perspective, before blocking them from my view outright. But if it's too much energy for me, or it's just straight-up attacking with no visible room for further conversation, I'm much more likely to just block.

I am a touch combative sometimes.
If someone says something that makes me roll my eyes, chances are I will @ them and say something.

I found obviously this is not desirable for me nor for them, and so now I just doot them onto my mute list. It lets you view muted content at the end of thread pages, should you so desire, so I see no reason not to use it liberally if that makes the site easier for you.
