Yes they can be offensive and hurtful, and yes it makes total sense to not want to see that on an Animal Crossing forum, (and I've yet to witness anyone directly attack what matters most to me), but I guess it's my personal choice to keep the stuff on my feed, even if I disagree strongly. The Animal Crossing part of our lives is not mutually exclusive with the rest of it; you express some of who you are as a person and what you have experienced in anything you do, like or say, even the jokes you make on topics that are relatively niche in the grand scheme of things.
And despite operating under a title WAY too many people have used unjustly to abuse and dehumanize those who can't control what they are, I want to understand people and why they think or believe what they do, how they see the situation, what their struggles are to be known and understood and accepted in a broken, confusing world. Ideally, I want to learn how to love others as I am loved, not hiding who I am, but also being careful how I talk about it because of what awful things other people who share my beliefs might have done because they lacked the most important part - love. That may not mean I ever agree with others on a lot of things, but it still requires listening to those who aren't like me and don't think like I do, and contemplating how their life matters just as much as mine for the one to whom I report.
If it weren't for reading conversations on this forum, I don't think I'd be as willing to use they/them pronouns for people like I now do. I continue to learn. I believe many people are capable of learning something new if you show them patience, gentleness, kindness. For that reason, I would rather try to discuss something, or think about their perspective, before blocking them from my view outright. But if it's too much energy for me, or it's just straight-up attacking with no visible room for further conversation, I'm much more likely to just block.
