Remember? You don't, do you? Boomerang was the go-to-channel to view classic cartoons, a sight of the past, the one place where you can relive your childhood again. Before i begin, i would like to provide a bit of history about Boomerang, courtesy of Wikipedia (Don't laugh):
Much of the programming that made up the core of Boomerang's lineup was originally part of TBS's Disaster Area, a block of children's programming that aired on that network from 1997 to 1999. Boomerang had originated a programming block airing on Cartoon Network that debuted on December 8, 1992. It was aimed towards the generation of baby boomers and was similar to the Vault Disney nostalgia block that would debut five years later on the Disney Channel. It originally aired for four hours every weekend, but the block's start time had changed frequently. The Saturday block moved to Saturday afternoons, then back to the early morning, and the Sunday block moved to Sunday evenings. Eventually, Boomerang was shortened by an hour, reducing it from four hours to three each weekend. Turner Broadcasting System eventually converted Boomerang into a standalone cable channel that debuted on April 1, 2000.On February 4, 2014, as part of the company's 2014 upfronts, Turner Broadcasting announced that Boomerang would become advertising-supported, and seek additional international distribution.
On January 19, 2015, the U.S. version of Boomerang was relaunched as part of a global rebranding effort and will offer original programming for the first time; the relaunched channel will continue to emphasize its archival programming but with a greatly increased emphasis on the archive's most popular brands and an explicitly family-friendly approach, in the hopes that Boomerang can become a "second flagship" on par with the main Cartoon Network channel.

This channel was absolutely wonderful growing up. I was able to enjoy classics aside from the modern/amazing cartoons that aired on it's parent channel, Cartoon Network. Ranging from Yogi Bear to the original Teen Titans (The one that isn't a parody), the show brought classics that i would sit around and watch all day.

Suddenly, on January 19, 2015, Boomerang decide to rebrand the channel in hopes to become a "second flagship" on par with the main Cartoon Network channel, which was a horrible mistake. They decided it was cool to add modern shows and only show a few classics a day, which basically made the authentic feel of the old days, slowly fade away into the background. Boomerang decide to air shows from the Main channel like Teen Titans Go and the Powerpuff girls reboot (Which was a little umm, bland in my opinion) which made the channel a little less old school.

I don't have anything against the new style as when it first came out, i went total gaga on it. The problem i have is that they don't pay attention to the old cartoons, which makes me furious. The schedule is literally horrible, airing not as many classics as they once did and if you think Boomerang schedule was bad, check out CN's schedule which airs Teen Titans Go the majority of the week, not giving anytime time for shows that deserve more attention like Regular Show, Adventure Show, and Steven Universe. CN has really fallen apart after CN City era (I think that's when it was called).

So, this is my question to you. How did you feel about these choices? Did you think it was right or wrong? If you could do something change the way CN runs things, what would you do. Also, have any of you ever been so compassionate about something then all of a sudden, it change right there. If so, what happen.

I hope you enjoy this thread and i know we don't have a lot of Cartoon Network fans here (Or at least i think), but i would love to here your input!

I never really liked Boomerang anyway. It was essentially the Hanna Barbera channel with a rare few others littered around sparsely like Dangermouse, until they eventually got replaced with something else from Hanna Barbera instead...

My dad pretty much always had it on when I went to his house, probably because they were all cartoons from his childhood so they actually appealed to him. It was pretty much the only time I would read a book instead of TV/games as a kid (maybe that's why he did it since he was mega into making me read...That sly old man!)

If I never have to watch another episode of Hong Kong Phooey or Scooby-Doo, I can die happy.

Wow, my heart is totally dead. SOMEONE CALLED A DOCTOR

I couldn't get into most Hanna Barbera cartoons either, but I loved Tom & Jerry when I was little. I think Boomerang also showed Looney Tunes as well, didn't it? I used to watch that on occasion too, but other than that Boomerang wasn't my go-to channel. I preferred Fox Kids, or Jetix I think it was later called, because it showed Medabots, Shin-Chan, and Bobobo-bobo-bobo. They were all SO GOOD.

I grew up with Spongebob, good Spongebob. Not the bad ones that still air today. I didn't grow up with Boomerang because we could never get that channel.

I'm sorry if this is WAY out of what you're talking about.

I remember watching Wacky Races on Boomerang at like 6am before I'd go to school years ago. That cartoon was from the 60's I think, so it doesn't really surprise me that it never plays on Boomerang anymore. There comes a time where old shows just don't appeal to people anymore & I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing for the channel to be switching what they air in order to garner more views.

I never really liked most of boomerang's stuff (hanna barbera cartoons really arent that great). Most of my time i spent watching TV was when i had no Sky.

I literally only remember watching POP when i was younger, and the only thing they showed were 90s cartoons (ive literally seen every mario cartoon episode ever made at least twice)

I used to watch re-runs of Animaniacs on Boomerang, Duck Dodgers too. They were usually in the same time block on the channel so it'd be one and then the other soon after. I also got my fix of Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry and other cartoons too. But I remember Animaniacs and Duck Dodgers the most... maybe because I used to sit in a cardboard box in my mum's room while watching them.

Bring back the Looney Tunes Show! The modern one that aired in like 2011. I loved that SOO much!

Same thing's happened with Nicktoons, they play more modern broadcasting because kids are more familiar with it. It brings in more viewers and more money

I used to watch The Angry Beavers and KaBlam! on Nicktoons in the morning before I'd go to school, but now I'm only somewhat familiar with one show they broadcast

I remember the December 2006 Latin America Boomerang , it had this logo:
latest

At first , this Boomerang had 4 blocks:
-Cartoons for litten kids (Mini TV) , they used a yellow-orange logo (that i cant find jfc)
-Live Actions , which used a red logo:
100px-Boomerang_Variante.jpg

-Classic Cartoons (a.k.a a part of the old good Boomerang) , which used a green logo
100px-Boomerang_logo_clasicos.gif

-Movies (Pelicula Boomerang) , used a blue logo:
100px-Boomerang_logo_azul.gif

The problem is , starting 2008-2009 , Boomerang only focused on Live actions and barely cared about the other blocks...

Until one day in 2010 , boomerang changed to this logo:
100px-Bomerang_ch.JPG

And only focused on ****ty Live actions .

Then in 2014 it changed to the new Boomerang , which again is like a CN #2 , except they dont even put classics there...

I guess it has been a bad channel since 2008 , im not sure about UK and USA boomerang , but im pretty sure 2014 Latin America Boomerang programs are similar to 2010 UK Boomerang programs

Tom and Jerry, PPG, Spongebob, Scooby-Doo, and the original Teen Titans was my child hood bro
I feel like they just made a really dumb decision and I liked that Boomerang was the only channel to watch my good ol shows. When I noticed that they moved TTG and more newer shows to it with the older ones not showing that often I felt bad. They screwed up big time. Cartoon Network is so trash right now. They only pump out new episodes of the crappy shows like TTG and not that much WBB + SU compared to it. :/

lmao I disliked it a bunch for some reason

I actually loved the old Boomerang. Mainly because I usually only got to see it every other weekend or so. I could only ever watch it at my grandmother's house because she was the only person I knew who got it. I'm not sure what provider she had... She had Boomerang, Disney XD, and Cartoon Network. When I was a kid, going to her house was the best. Watching her television wasn't necessarily THE highlight, but it was a treat for sure.

Well hey, at least they still air old shows around the 2000 decade.

I share the same sentiments. Wasn't a fan of pre-1998 cartoons, myself. Hanna-Barbera never really interested me as a kid.

Nah, Nicktoons doesn't do that either. You'll see Invader Zim and El Tigre here and there, but they mostly just air reruns of shows that recently ended(Sanjay and Craig, Breadwinners, etc.), and Fairly OddParents reruns, along with sports programs for some reason. I believe Nick died off when they started using the Nicktoons channel for killing off shows that were nearing the end of their run.
