Potatoes are tubers, which are either roots or a product of a root (don’t know exactly which) and grow directly underground. Gourds (like pumpkins) are produced by a vine above ground, which means they are not tubers (and therefore not potatoes)

Pumpkin: "Die, monster! You don't belong in this garden."

Fuzzy caterpillar: "It was not by my hand that I am once again given life. I was called here by ants who wish to pay me tribute."

Pumpkin: "Tribute!?! You feast upon our vines and make ants your slaves!"

Fuzzy caterpillar: "Perhaps the same could be said of all insects..."

Pumpkin: "Your words are as empty as your belly! Pumpkin-kind ill needs a savior such as you!"

Fuzzy caterpillar: "What is a pumpkin? A miserable little pile of seeds! But enough talk... Have at you!"

*Legendary battle ensues*

I have done some research, in the spoilers below, if you want to know.

It really depends on how you take it. Like tomato is considered a fruit, but for culinary purposes it is a vegetable.

Actually, it's a squash, get it right 🙄 just kidding, I totally didn't assume the pumpkin's identity 😳
