What is/was your DIY "white whale"?

Small wooden partition & tension pole rack. I managed to get the pole rack about two months ago but the partition still escapes me. I make a mental note of every single build I have that needs that partition. The counter is at 4 right now. One of these days I'll be free.

At the moment it's the remaining crowns, wreaths and the manga-wall diy. Fortunately I’m not in any hurry to look for them since I don’t need the diys for any projects at the moment.

The stacked fish containers and carp on the cutting board were so elusive for me. I ended up buying them here on TBT since I needed them so bad for my island.

And now it's the ladder kits.

Four of them are 2.0 additions so fair enough, but those two flower DIYs have been eluding me for over two years !! xD

From the original update, it was one of the flower crowns or wreaths. There are so many, that I've forgotten which one.

From the 2.0 update, it was the stacked containers. It took me ages to find that one DIY.

It was the pile of zen cushions until @themysterybidder helped me. To this day it has never spawned for me. Nova light is the next one, even worse because I’m playing less frequently this season.

Those Ironwood recipes have been the bane of my existence for the better part of a year.

I've been waiting for the ironwood kitchen. I suspect it took less time to find the Hope Diamond.

in terms of special diys: the blossom viewing lantern (which is annoying because it's easily one of my favorite items in the game)

in terms of everyday diys: the book diys i love (tiny library, wooden bookshelf, stack of books) literally always evaded me, it's like the game can tell you want it and says no

honestly it's why i just get diys off of this forum lol

For a long time the one I was missing was Wooden double bed and this was something I really wanted as one of the large size beds I liked that could use custom designs. I got some beds crafted by a friend and did eventually get the DIY in the end but I remember that it took quite a long time.

I really can't remember if I had one(I have all the diys now). I never much worried about it because what I couldn't get in game I got from folks here either from trading or tbt. Camping the beach for the seasonal diys was a real drag though.

I have 34 DIY cards left to get and I'm taking my time to get the rest, but the most memorable "white whale" card was for the regular DIY Workbench since that is obtained from sisterly villagers. I asked here for one and then about a month later, I got it from a sisterly.

Still haven't gotten my golden axe card yet.

I don't know about the DIY. Most times if I can't find it at a reasonable time or really want to craft something and it hasn't shown up in a week or so I organize a trade here with the lovely members of TBT.

This isn't a diy, but it took me forever to find the sand castle. I legit had to get the dlc, buy enough from Wardell, and then buy it from his list. It took me 2 years to find the stupid sand castle everyone else had from day 1. 2 YEARS.

I need the DIY for the iron bench.
I'm "making" a replica of my original (now deleted) Island and the island just doesn't work without it.

I took a break from the game and want to go day by day to catch up so I can check bottles on the beach for it. But I don't have the energy for that.

So I guess I'm just never playing again XD

golden fishing rod and net: complete the critterpedia for fish and bugs
golden axe: break 100 axes (make a bunch of flimsy axes and use those for quickest results)
golden watering can: 5-star island rating. That's the annoyingly hard one, especially if you're not much of a decorator
golden shovel: help Gulliver 30 times. Gullivarr doesn't count for this
