What is your favourite type of island theme?

Choose one of these popular island themes that you like the most and feel free to discuss what you like about it in the replies. My personal favourite is either rural farm islands or islands inspired by ancient civilisations!

I like the nature based island themes The more greenery and beautiful gardens the better

I love some of the waterfalls and terraforming designs people make I also like the natural custom paths.

I like having a city themed island. Idk, i just find it aesthetically appealing imo.

I would say either nature based or cottage core. Ive always liked those best.

I went with "Rural/farmcore", but I also like the small town vibes. It reminds me of older AC games

i voted for fairytale! i like seeing all the magical themed islands, especially if it’s a dream address at night - everything looks so pretty

not in the list, but i also really admire elegantcore islands! so much attention to detail and coordinating needed for those

I voted for nature based/ farmcore. I really love seeing all the flowers and veggies. I wish they would have brought back more of the really nice plant items from new leaf.

I like the fairytale theme as well. I love the castle items and mixing them with flowers.

I really like norm core islands and islands that mostly use in game paths, I also really like small town vibes so I voted for that one.

I really love the Japanese style ones. My island is even one (with a mix of forest-like in some areas), it was really fun to put it together even though there were a few bumps in the road. But I love the way it's looking now.

The other islands I like are Urban/city, Forest and Rural. I also like the ones that tell you a story, even though I believe all islands do. But the ones like Aika village were in NL.

I love rural and farm-themed islands, my island is also one of those. Even my cow and bull villagers match the theme, as well.

I love the naturey cottagecore kind of islands! I love the use of natural elements of weeds and flowers and how well they work with the natural paths... My island doesn't have a complete theme for all of it right now but I have a couple places that have that nature feeling

nature based/forestcore is my go-to. always had that theme in my new leaf towns and in new horizons. lots of weeds, dirt pathing etc

I went with nature themed as my vote, because I do really like using items that I would classify as nature-themed. :> I definitely make use of a lot of flowers and shrubs and like to decorate them in a way that feels natural. I do have aspects of my town that feel a bit more urban and like having the balance (gotta work more on my transition areas though). Aside from the flowers and shrubs I feel like I just tend to use things like the garden lamps, logs/stumps, the ruined pillars, mushroom set, things like that.

personally for my own island theme, i tend to lean towards nature theme mix with fairy or castle/elegant things as i find it easier to build around. i actually really like japanese inspired towns however and really want to try my hands at making one.

Funny enough since it's not the style more used on my island, my favorite theme/furniture is always horror/creepy related..
I just can't help it, getting recipes for graves or skeletons always make me so jolly xDD

If I had a second switch, I’d do a Christmas themed island. I love the wintery ones but I don’t time travel

It depends! When it comes to visiting other islands, I think my favorite theme to see would be horror themed islands. I feel like you have to get pretty creative to make a good horror island.

As for my own island, my favorite theme is somewhere between a nature theme and a suburban theme!

If I ever make a second island though, I'm not sure what theme I would pick. Urban is pretty cool..
