What languages do you know?

It's incredible how so many people know more than one language on this place. I am fluent in English. It is my first language and I am currently learning Mandarin Chinese but haven't learnt much yet. I hope to know quite a bit in the future because it is such an amazing language and China has so much amazing culture.

my native language is chinese & i can speak it but can only read and write a little
my first language used to be french since i lived in montreal from age 5-14, but i haven't spoken it in over five years so it's getting rusty. i can still read and write though
my first language now is english because i moved to an english speaking city. it's still difficult for me to say some words the right way (like psychiatrist. i just can't pronounce it)

Sadly, I can only speak one language. I tried to learn Japanese, but lost motivation, so I'm really impressed by the people who can speak more than one language

english and i can speak german pretty fluently (still learning)

When I was a kid before started school I spoke a mixture of Portuguese and English and anything I said in English I had a Portuguese accent. When I started school I didn’t know some English words but then I started using more and more English words until I almost completely eliminated Portuguese but I still understand it (I understand European Portuguese better though). I’m trying to learn more Portuguese but even though I understand European better Brazilian is way easier to pronounce and read and write. I’m also learning Hindi now and for some reason I’m really motivated to learn it. Sometimes I try and learn Hawaiian but it’s so difficult everything is like a tongue twister and sentence structure is out of this world. They say the more languages you learn the easier each one gets so maybe I’ll try and learn Hawaiian after I learn Hindi and Portuguese and I’ll see if it’s any easier. There’s a lot more languages I want to learn though.

It's weird for me having pretty much no real foreign language background to... being familiar with many.

Spanish is the language I'm best with. I'm... okay with Japanese I guess, idk. I know general stuff in German. I know just the general basics of French and only very basic Arabic and some general phrases in some others. I will say, this knowledge significantly lowers the amount of ackward language barrier situations on club tortimer international I'm still continuing improving on them and such. I just like studying languages in general.

english
I want to learn italian though
I'd suck at languages that require rolling of the r though because for the life of me I cannot roll my rs no matter how much I have tried

Wow y’all talented talented ✊

My native tongue is English, but I speak Tagalog at home (alongside English). I am learning Spanish in school, but I’d like to learn Japanese, Mandarin, and possibly French someday!

English is my native language and the only one I am fluent at. However, I am learning French right now (am taking French II). I will also need to learn German.

English, Norwegian and Norwegian sign language. I can also understand Danish and Swedish, but I can't speak it, so I dont think it counts haha. ✿

Native language is german, I can understand also the very deep bavarian language (can't speak it tho),
my english is pretty good and I'm learning french by myself. It's decent by now, but still a long way to go..

Same! I'm fluent in English and I'm currently learning French, though I started it quite recently so I have even longer a way to go.

My native language is Finnish and I know a decent amount of Swedish as well, especially since it was taught in school.

I'm fluent in German and English. I've learned three more languages, two with classes in school and one via Duolingo, but without proper practice I really can't say that I know them all too well.

Swedish, which is my native language, and English. I understand Norwegian and I can read Danish (it's hard to understand spoken Danish though lol).

Other than that, I only know few phrases and words in languages like French, German, Spanish and Japanese (I can read katakana). It's not much but It can go a long way on Club Tortimer for instance.

Swedish, English, and some German. Haven't properly learned it since high school but I can read/understand most as long as they don't have some weird accents and I could probably go speak it there with some help lol.

Also maybe taking Portuguese this fall, if I can still apply for it. I know some words here and there but trying to understand it in some accents is hard man lol. Also the grammar is.. different. I kinda want to learn Serbian too though :>

i'm only fluent in english and swedish but i've studied german for like five years and still absolutely Suck at it, like i can hold a conversation but i will probably die while doing it. i also had a weeb phase when i was 13 and wanted to learn japanese so i know a little but not enough to in any way get by using it.
