What makes you cringe the most?

- old ppl who think me having pink hair makes me a bad care provider :c

That's unfortunate!

Judging others based on their appearances makes me cringe. I mean, I'd understand something blatantly disrespectful/inappropriate... but pink hair? Sheesh.

I'm sure you're a lovely care provider.

I only cringe at secondhand embarrassment and myself ten years ago.

Close minded people who think they know everything when in reality they aren't too bright.

Yeah you have to pick the raisins here like, if someone would have baggy pants showing off their ass and like a wrestling shirt and helping me in a library I would probably wonder but yeah what does your hair colour matter.. bruh.

People think this for the same reasons you think someone with baggy pants who likes wrestling may not be good at helping someone in a library.

It's a stereotype, especially among older generations, that people with colorful hair and piercings are rebellious/dont follow the rules. They think we are very uneducated and probably dropped out of school or got the worst grades so they dont trust that we will give the best care. It is also deemed to be "unprofessional" to have different colored hair. Although if you have a deep burgundy that's almost brown you can get away with it or platinum hair that is borderline silver.

Another thing that makes me cringe is someone not washing their hands after using the bathroom or after they touch raw meat

Well most people having their butts down like that is either a) drunk or b) trying to be part of a non-service culture and it doesn't look nice with a few exceptions of hiphoppers but they at least dress up nice if they have a work. Where as your hair colour definitely doesn't matter because you can still look presentable. That's not really having to do with old boomer either, would you want someone's ass hanging out and being sweaty in any service area (unless they were in some sports thing that is).

I've been working in service for some years now and you can definitely have pink or green hair but still looking fab. If they judge you by hair colours they are just dumb, though my workplaces mostly been for people who needs specialized needs like me also so might be that. Tbf I'm definitely not a surface-y person but yeah I have my limits.

Also agree on the hands things like how the hell can you NOT wash hands????

I wasnt saying it wasnt unprofessional to have your butt out, it is, but just that you were stereotyping the person's abilities based on what they look like. A lot of people sag their pants/have their underwear showing too as a fashion statement so that's what I thought you meant.

And this stereotype is definitely connected with older generations. I'm not saying everyone of a certain age thinks this just that its... extremely common from my own personal experience that older populations have issues with hair color/piercing/tattoos while younger generations typically do not.

It kinda is as well because showing you ass is not really pleasant in public like that but that's my onion so I agree on disagreeing. But yeah I wouldn't hire someone showing their undies in the kitchen cooking for guests :p

I guess that depends on workplace more than age to be honest but hair colour shouldn't depend on that, more so that you can show up whole and clean.

Also yeah I have a complete different style of clothing at work since we have to wear special work wear such as hoodie or shirt etc with logo on it and neutral non-baggy pants or a not too short dress/shorts if hot. So yeah I don't care what you do in private really but yea people need to learn work is not private

people who think it’s okay to be racist because they have poc friends. that and people who think it’s okay to be homophobic because they have lgbt friends.
