Question in the title.

For me, it'd have to be Carissa's Wierd (yeah, it's spelled Wierd in the title; it makes me cringe every time). They have the best mellow and sadcore music I've ever heard, even more so than some Smashing Pumpkins songs.

Jin Akanishi. How he is not world renowned by this point I do not know. I thought he was on the verge of taking off eight years ago when he split from J-pop group KAT-TUN and and signed with Warner Music Group. He's since launched his own label and with every record he releases I keep thinking his time is gonna come. His voice is incredible, his lyrics amazing, and I don't know if he's doing his own thing or consciously analysing the market but it's everything I'd expect to just wow the American mainstream.

Lu?s C?lia. How he's not that acknowledged more outside Portugal (and maybe France or stuff, though) is a mystery. I mean one of his songs (Canto do desertor) was in Concerning Violence and that film got lotsa praise. But I guess the language and somewhat the historical context of his music and lyrics can be a barrier, but yeah I wish more people would give him a chance imo.

Also honorable mention to S?rgio Godinho, even though his music is probably more accessible.

whoaaaa, i'm sorry but i've never even met someone with my name, let alone a band with it !! i personally love with confidence (though their popularity is rising a bit), but they're definitely not for you if you're not into the pop-punk scene haha,,

spyair, they used to be my favourite band in like 2012-2014. they got more popular when they made haikyuu soundtracks but i still think theyre underapreciated ):

Grandaddy/Jason Lytle. I guess they were kinda big back in the day but I feel like they never got enough appreciation.

Knife party / pendulum makes amazing edm / whatever you would call pendulum, and yet people only ever hear of Skrillex ( I mean still amazing ) and Chainsmokers ( arguably the worst and most overrated edm group ever. )-- never mind knife party's last album was in 2014...

The wiggles. They deserve to be on the top 100 billboard.

Sophie Zelmani. She's released 12 or 13 albums over the past 20 years. Not a lot of people have heard of her, but can listen to any of them as background music and not get fed up of it.

Ask Embla/Ina Wroldsen. She's written a good few songs that have been #1 hits including Calvin Harris' How Deep is Your Love, and written songs used by Little Mix, Jess Glynn, Demi Lovato. But yeah, she has a really nice voice and does some really nice melodies for the songs she writes. She didn't catch on in much of the rest of the world outside her home country (Norway).

Soil and Pimp Sessions, Tokyo Jihen, Sheena Ringo, Ginji Itou, Taeko Ohnuki...and mostly old artists from 20's-90's...oh dear. I'm not too keen with modern artists.

I think Dodie Clark deserves a whole mega trillion lot more than she gets, honestly she is such a kind and caring person who can genuinely sing and write songs

Sheena Ringo is actually kinda cool even though it's not really my music nowadays :3
and ya i thought taeko ohnuki was kinda 'in' if you were into that kind of music from japan, ah well yeah she deserves recognition either way!

She's the '60s Jazz girl. Very modern but her style of 60's jazz and 2000s pop/acid jazz, she's very amazing. Flexible as hell. I found many things such as high-tension Jazz band, Soil and Pimp sessions (they did a collab) and the movie, Prismatic/Hyakuiro Megane. (She starred in it, which led me to LENS, a stageplay comedy-detective drama that the protagonist, Amagi Keitaro originally from.) She's also done CMs. She's that amazingly flexible that I idolize her aaaaa.

Mother Mother. An alternative indie rock band from Canada that switches up their style each album while still keeping a touch of their folk/rock roots. Seriously recommend it, there's very few songs from them I don't listen to.
