wild world! i was four months away from turning 2 when population growing came out, so obviously way too young to play asdfghjkl. by contrast, i was 6 when WW released and received it for christmas. i've played every game since then, even owning two copies of NL, and still own all my copies of the older games. i don't think it's my original WW town though; i think both cartridges (my original one, and my sister's) had their towns reset a couple of years ago when i first revisited the game. unfortunately, i'm a bit of a graphics snob, and the WW graphics are unbearable for me, so i haven't touched it since asdfghjk. CF (or "let's go to the city!" here) holds up slightly better, and i'd probably go back to it every now and again if it was on a handheld console. (don't think that has its original town either.)

My first one was the original Animal Crossing for the Gamecube, gotten way back in Christmas 2002. I definitely enjoyed it and put several hours into it, and ended up getting every main series game since then!

Technically candy run or whatever it’s called from Nintendo land but I originally played new leaf after watching YouTubers playing it and I instantly fell in love.

Wild World was my first, but I played the Gamecube version too, and I started playing it again today.

Animal Crossing for the Gamecube or as it's sometimes called,Population: Growing.I read a preview for this game in a video game magazine and I knew I was going to like it so I bought it on release day at the local Best Buy.

My first game was Population Growing, and it’s what started my obsession with the series. I like the concept of Animal Crossing where you can be who you want to be and not feel judged, and the freedom to do what you want to do.

I totally agree. That is one of the best things about animal crossing.

First was Wild World, then quickly went back and played the og AC. Many wonderful memories with those games!

My first animal crossing game was the gamecube version. I started playing it in 2005 at a friend’s house until I got my own copy.

My first was New Leaf then I went ahead and bought a copy of Wild World after that and played that since I didn’t know about animal crossing yet when it came out

gamecube! i got it as a gift and fell in love with the game. i still play the gamecube version sometimes, but theres not much to do besides fishing and being verbally abused by your villagers lol although their dialogue is hilarious. i wish i still had a gba and converter so i could visit the tropical island again

Wild World for me! It sadly hasn't aged well, at least in my opinion, but I still treasure it dearly.

WW was the first one I played but I only got it about four months before LGttC came out ... LGttC was really the AC game that hooked me on the series, even though it wasn't the first I played !!

I bought the GameCube version and Wild World around the same time. I only ever played wild world though ( the actual GameCube was my brother’s and he didn’t let me play it). I loved it as a kid. Years later, when new leaf came out, I didn’t buy it right away. I bought it a little before the huge welcome amiibo update. Then I just pretty much played it up until they announced new horizons. I bought the switch just for new horizons 😍

I got Wild World, and later in the same year Animal Crossing GCN. I spent way too much time on Wild World though. I could never put it down, and people would leave their gates open nearly 24/7 just to socialize. The soundtrack for WW brings back so many good memories.

The Gamecube version! My dad took me to Best Buy to pick out a new game (I probably did well on a test or something, lol) and I saw the cat on the front and grabbed it. I was pretty bummed when I realized you couldn't play AS a cat, but soon enough I didn't care because it was SO fun! I loved that game but was pretty much always broke, lol, so my house was basically never paid off. I have so many memories from that game, though, and it was awesome. Like I still remember catching my FIRST Stringfish, right as the clock struck midnight on New Years! Fireworks were blasting in the background, and I thought "Woah, that looks like I big fish" and boy was it! I'm pretty sure I sold it instead of donating it, though, because again... broke. I also remember playing with my friends and family, and my BFF getting mad at me for "stealing" her in-game boyfriend (we both picked them, and then hers moved to my town). Ugh, so many good memories.

I've also played every game since! I remember being SO pumped for WW... and SO bummed when I realized there were no holidays. Holidays were one of my top favorite things about AC, so I never enjoyed WW as much. It's still my least favorite game in the series. But I loved when they came back in CF! I mainly played that game by TTing from holiday to holiday, earning prizes to sell. Paid off my house that way, lol. NL was an epic game as well, and I honestly didn't think it could get better... until ACNH. All the things I'd hoped for in an AC came to life in it, and I'm still excited to see what future updates we get!

my first was city folk, and since i’ve played every game except animal crossing/population growing :)

I think it was wild world tho tbh I didn’t really play this one. The first game I REALLY played was new leaf and I loved it. It’s still my favorite animal crossing game!
