Is there a song that you love/have heard that feels like it’s your theme?

As in, it could play at the beginning of a movie about your life.

Please explain why!

I was actually thinking about this recently, and while I love a good number of songs, it has to be “Am I Wrong” by Nico & Vinz. The lyrics really resonate with me and about my life growing up. Also, sorry for my shameless anime plug, but this is quite possibly my favorite AMV ever where it’s used (I’ve posted this before).

I just think it really describes me well as a person and this video in particular reminds me of my mom a lot.

edit: I just remembered that this song although relatively lighthearted includes a curse word! Maybe I'll think of another one later.

Probably "The Best Day Ever" from Spongebob.
Not only is it from my favorite show of all-time, ever since I can remember (and a true bop), but I think it describes me perfectly, since although i'm generally a happy person, the little things do get to me at times.

Maybe my movie could start with These Days (Nico) and end with Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life (Monty Python)

OP, what's your song?

Some of these song choices are absolutely amazing haha.

As for me... The first / main thing that comes to mind is Pinch Me.

I feel like it really speaks to the nihilist in me? Just kind of floating through life, wishing it meant more, but really it just... Doesn't.
I also have a very "meh" vibe about daily life which I feel like the song totally reflects, but in an upbeat, pop-y way. And I always try to keep that upbeat attitude so I don't drag everyone down, and be like :D YUP LETS ALL BE COOL WITH THIS SH**SHOW :D

It's the perfect time of year
Somewhere far away from here
I feel fine enough, I guess
Considering everything's a mess

There's a restaurant down the street
Where hungry people like to eat
I could walk, but I'll just drive
It's colder than it looks outside

It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone
Then ya try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn
When ya try to see the world beyond your front door
Take your time 'cause the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile
When ya realize that a guy my size might take a while
Just to try to figure out what all this is for

It's the perfect time of day
To throw all your cares away
Put the sprinkler on the lawn
And run through with my gym shorts on
Take a drink right from the hose
And change into some drier clothes
Climb the stairs up to my room
Sleep away the afternoon

It's like a dream you try to remember but it's gone (pinch me)
Then ya try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn (pinch me)
When ya try to see the world beyond your front door (I'm still asleep)
Take your time 'cause the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile (please God)
When ya realize that a guy my size might take a while (tell me)
Just to try to figure out what all this is for (I'm still asleep)

Pinch me
Pinch me
'Cause I'm still
Asleep
Please God
Tell me
That I'm still asleep

On an evening such as this
It's hard to tell if I exist
If I packed a car and leave this town
Who'll notice that I'm not around?
I could hide out under there
I just made you say, "Underwear"
I could leave but I'll just stay
All my stuff's here anyway

Like a dream you try to remember but it's gone (pinch me)
Then ya try to scream but it only comes out as a yawn (pinch me)
When ya try to see the world beyond your front door (I'm still asleep)
Take your time 'cause the way I rhyme's gonna make you smile (please God)
When ya realize that a guy my size might take a while (tell me)
Just to try to figure out what all this is for (I'm still asleep)
Try to figure out what all this is for (I'm still asleep)
Try to see the world beyond your front door (I'm still asleep)
Try to figure out what all this is for

OP, what's your song?

That’s an awesome pick. Gotta love some upbeat nihilism. 😄

To answer your question, mine would have to be That’s Life by Frank Sinatra.

It’s motivating, it’s fun, it’s classic and funky- with a little bit of edge. I feel like an opening cutscene is sneaking up on me every time I hear it. lol

“I've been a puppet, a pauper, a pirate, a poet
A pawn and a king
I've been up and down and over and out
And I know one thing
Each time I find myself layin'
Flat on my face
I just pick myself up and get
Back in the race
That's life.”

This song gives me chills every time I hear it.

I'm just me and I shouldn't have to answer for who you expected me to be. People get really caught up in societal expectations, and just the general routine of life, I find that so boring and monotonous. Life could be so much more and people are content to live in a bubble reality they've created for themselves to feel comfortable, I want to touch what's real.

This is an excellent song and I totally want to see your life music video now haha!

I want to touch what's real.

Omg I haven't heard this song in soooo long, it's so good.

hmmm its hard to sum my entire life up in one song since I feel like you grow and change so much.

but if I were to choose a song to open a movie about my life I'd probably be something like this-

or this, depending on the vibe lol-

The treasure island song honestly meant so much to me when I was younger and it really captures something I still free all the time. Thank you for reminding me of it @Firesquids

the song ‘No Rain’ by Blind Melon is really meaningful and always felt like it really captures something for me.

I’ve changed a lot over the years in many ways, but the lines below still just hit something inside me so strongly:

And I don’t understand why I sleep all day
and I start to complain when there’s no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake and it rips my life away but it’s a great escape’

I don't know what it is about this song but there's something about it that anytime I hear it, it hits me right in the feels and just gives me a boost especially if I'm feeling down. Either way any time I listen to the album this song is from I have to REALLY listen to it.

I won't even post a link to the official video with the song because some might find the imagery disturbing. But the song that would sum up the way I feel about my life is Wrong, by Depeche Mode.

Even though I'm now in my 50s, and I've mellowed so much over the decades, much of my existence (especially the first 25 years of it) has been a struggle. When I first heard this song, I felt like it was the auditory equivalent of looking into a mirror. It's not my favourite song. Or even a song that I want to hear often. But when I do hear it, I feel like it's something I needed to hear.

Pretty sure none of that made any sense. 🤨🤪

I love the song Creep by Radiohead but I simply have to say, I prefer Jinx Moonson's Cover.

I chose this song because.. most of my friends alongside myself deal with depression and other problems. I know no one is alone in this world. Absolutely no one. And even if we feel that way sometimes, we have people to fall back on in times of need. I will always be there for my friends when they need a shoulder to cry on or someone to vent to. I am like this because I know how it feels to feel alone. I do not want others to be left alone in the dark, because I believe no one should have to go through that by themselves. Even if I've been treated wrongly in the past and I never had the best support system (or one at all sometimes), that doesn't mean I should turn a blind eye and ignore people in times of need. You are never alone. If you're reading this, regardless of how much we know each other, just remember you've got me, at the very least. 💕
