I'm pretty new to Animal Crossing and my first game was New Leaf, but recently my cousin gave me her extra copy and I'm gonna be going backwards xD

So whats City Folk like? How different is it from New Leaf? I know the grass dies faster but thats pretty much the extent of my City Folk knowledge :X

I didn't really like city folk. The controls are really wonky but its alot more traditional. There is not really any "Goals" beside making your house nice. Its really more relaxed compared to new leaf. But not as relaxed as the original.

So new leaf is better? and ah oki. I just thought it'd be interesting to try it after playing new leaf

City Folk's a good game, but because it was created using Wild World as a base, everybody who played WW didn't think CF was that good, and I share that opinion.. In WW they took out all the major holidays such as Christmas, Hallowe'en and Easter, and CF brought all those back, which was epic.. But it didn't really add much except new characters and some new shops.. NL is much better in comparison, and it's slightly more compact and it feels like your own town, with the Main Street, and the fact everything's so customisable.. I really do love that about NL..

Also, GC, WW and CF's houses all had specific plots.. In NL they obviously move where they want, and while that's frustrating at times, using the reset trick makes it even more customisable.. NL has flaws, but imo it's so much better than CF and was well worth the wait :p

The franchise doesn't seem to be designed for the Wii in first place. If you use Wii Remote + Nunchuk (which is the most popular way to play), you'll have to avoid pointing to the screen when you're moving or you might have trouble using the A button functions. Oh, and don't get me started on typing without a USB keyboard and WiiSpeak.

There doesn't seem to have much ACCF players online as of now, which easily make this game pretty much worthless in comparison. You'll be most likely stuck with the rather shallow single-player content. Sure, you'll be playing for a short while just for the sake of curiosity, but it only takes a few days to realize the game's a chorefest.

Thankfully, the copy you got was free, so I see no problem here. It was a good game, but it's definitely the most disappointing iteration ever.

Oki doki ^^ I think I'll still give City Folk a try, but I'll always really like new leaf :D I like the stuff you can do :) Tho it takes a little while to customize furniture :X I've been customizing the Modern Wood set for a while now :X Then I have two more sets I wanna customize x.x

Yeah, I'd give City Folk a try. It's like Wild World but a lil better.

NL is better than CF, but CF is better than WW and the GCN is better than WW and CF, but is neck and neck with best AC game with NL.

WW and CF are pretty dry compared to NL and the GCN version..

Oooh I played WW when i was 5.

I don't remember much, except for the fact that my house was FULL of cocroaches, and spider webs.

I don't wish to offend anyone, but the situation with which Animal Crossing game is the best out of New Leaf and City Folk/Let's Go to the City, is just purely ridiculous. As soon as a new Animal Crossing game is announced, everyone will be going crazy and flinging their New Leaf cartridges out of the window. It's the same with a lot of different games, not just with Animal Crossing. The section for City Folk/Let's Go to the City discussion is a lot less active than it was before New Leaf was released, because almost everyone threw that game to the side the moment they got their hands on New Leaf. I'm not saying that everyone did that, but if I was entirely wrong, that section would be as active as it originally was.

I enjoyed City Folk, but it would be really hard for me to go back. NL added so many new features and customization that I don't want to ever live without in another AC game.

It and Wild World aren't great compaired to New Leaf and Population Growing, in my opinion.

City Folk was my childhood game, along with Wild World.
I thought City Folk was better because of the improved graphics, and a few little things here and there, and I still got addicted.
But jumping backwards from New Leaf and City Folk will make you realise how good New Leaf is.

I can't ever go back to City Folk anymore. But I do miss those old days!

I didn't really like playing CF on the Wii.

I loved WW.

if you're going to go backwards, you're going to want to go back to New Leaf quicker than you think.
All you do is raise money to expand your house. You only get 3 floors (along with a bedroom floor)
There is no island, so making money is a bit hard. The only way to make money is buy selling stuff.
There is a downtown instead of the shopping district and you get a credit card (which we really need in NL...)
