What's the story behind everyone's island name?

Lumos, after the Harry Potter spell for light, because it was supposed to be about new beginnings and have all of this lore and stuff… yeah, that didn’t end well.

Illoria, I changed one letter in the name Illyria. My favorite character from the show Angel.

Natsukashi- it's one of those fancy Japanese words that translates roughly to 'coming back to a home'. Technically the full word has an extra 'i' at the end but it only fits 10 characters so I dropped the I. Originally I wanted to recreate my WW, CF and some NL into the new island, but that changed over time.

Willowisp- this name is in reference to the Will-of-the-Wisp, little ghostly balls of light that guide torwards your destiny. Also before I saw the word written out I only heard it, so I thought it was pronounced will'o-wisp. It's also supposed to encompass the word Willow like willow trees.
I think it has an eerie, ethereal, ghostly sound to the name, so I used that for my desolate horror town.

DoleWhip- named after the dessert. I wanted somethin tropical-ish sounding, somethin sunny and beachy. The island also incorporates alot of those colours. It's technically a remake of my NL town, Luminosa, but more bright colours.

Billington-I had an all-duck town in New Leaf called Quackle and thought about using that name again for my duck island in New Horizons but chose Billington because it's ducky enough and it sounds like a name for a real city or town.And yes,Bill the duck does live on Billington.Can't have a Billington without a Bill.

St.Hubbins-Named after the lead singer and rhythm guitarist from the band Spinal Tap,David St.Hubbins.St.Hubbins is the patron saint of quality footwear.

Koolewong-"Koolewong" is an Aboriginal name for koala so I gave that name to my all-koala island.

Hollyfeld-Named after Lazlo Hollyfeld,a character from the movie Real Genius.

My island is called Cosa Bella which means "Beautiful Thing". Being Italian I thought that was fitting plus I wanted to make my island look beautiful and like a mystical out of this world almost fairy-tale looking island.

Mine is quite obvious if you've played the games, but my island's name "Eventide" as well as it's theme is based on TLoZ: BotW/TotK's island in the far southeastern corner of the map of the same name.

I chose Teacup again Well my first island was Teacup which I regret restarting but the first reason is because I do like a good cup of tea and afternoon tea is my favourite with the lil cakes or scones

New Island, because my NL town was named New Leaf. I couldn't come up with a unique name again so I went with a name that felt like a continuation. I've gotten very far. I'm not much a collector like I was in NL....so I'm probably going to end up deleting it and starting over with a new island because I feel like it will be a long time when the new AC game releases.

I just used my username because I needed a basic name I'd never tire of. I tried a lot of specific names, but I always wanted to change them.

I named Wahu after the Wii Sports Resort island, Wuhu. At the time (March 2020), I never realized that I had misspelled the name until I later played Resort again out of boredom. I eventually grew to like my spelling better.

Longwood is the name of Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania and the name of my island as the name means a lot to me.
