Mine is Naydra! I called it after one of the dragon spirits in Zelda Breath of The Wild after I saw someone online calling their island like one of the regions with the springs in the game. c:
I named my island New Vegas. I'm a big fan of Fallout, and New Vegas is my favorite game in the series. Also my ACNL town is named Novac so I wanted to keep the theme going. (My old ACNL town was called Pikatown, but I forget why I named it that).
My towns have always been named Kariko and since the name also fits the island theme, I've decided to keep it. It's derived from Kakariko Village in A Link to the Past. I remember playing the game as a child and loving the cozy, homey atmosphere when I entered the village and the music would start playing. It was always a nice place to come home to and that's what I want my towns (or in this case my island) to be.
i've always named my towns after towns in the past pokemon games. my first one was wild world, and i called it foretree, and my new leaf town is named new bark. My current town is called Lilycove, and im a huge gen 3 nut. Lilycove was too perfect to not use.
I named my character Kenyér, which means Bread in my language, because my family name irl translates to something like Bread.
So I thought it was a good idea to name my island Pékség, that means Bakery.
So now I'm Bread from Bakery
i recently started fresh, and made an original character i've had for some number of years. his name is Micah, and he is obsessed with frogs, so naturally i named the island Ribbit! i wanna get him all the frog villagers haha.
Named my island Hateno cause not only am I bad at making up names, I love Legend of Zelda. Hateno in breath of the wild is cozy little town and I wanted my island to have that kind of feel. Same went with new leafs being called Ordona (twilight princess)
Cedar Cove. It's my original launch island from March 2020 and I still have it. Really not that 'unique' of a name. I just wanted something that had a nice sound to it, but was somewhat natural and common enough where I wouldn't dislike it later on if I named it something where the theme or name would be rigid.
My name is haven so i named my island safe haven, like a peaceful place to just rest and relax. I play the game to relieve stress and when im having an overload of emotions to just calm myself down
I love to mash up words to come up with island and town names, but I usually keep the ones that I feel fit the theme(s) I want to play with on my islands. For Roseberry, I imagined a quiet village, lots of flowers and bushes, waterfalls and ponds here and there. A place to enjoy gardening, reading by the river, chatting with your neighbours. A peaceful, natural vibe, basically. For Mapledove, I wanted something that would remind me of fall, halloween and by extension, horror. I lowkey want to feel overwhelmed by the trees, weeds and cliffs, and then emptiness. Like you can tell something went wrong here, but you don't know what went wrong. Basically, Silent Hill if you spent the whole game(s) in the woods. c':
I ended up talking about my ideas more than the island names, oops. ^^;
