What's the story behind everyone's island name?

Mine is Cherrycove. I’ve wanted an AC town named Cherrygrove after the town in pokemon foreeevvvveerrrr because I played Gen 2 as a kid and I always reset for cherries as my town fruit. There have never been enough characters! This is the closest I’ve ever gotten lol. But I went with cove so it would fit and also because it fit the island theme.

Mine is called Flotillon, it's the French name of that butterfly from Fantasy Life on 3DS!!

Azevinho ~ I wanted something tropical so mine is called Azevinho because it means Holly in Portuguese and my name is Holly ^-^ ❤️

Sealtainn! It's the word 'Shetland' in Scottish Gaelic! It's in honor of my dog, Finn, whose a Shetland Sheepdog.

Chromatica is for the new album by Lady Gaga , coming out this year.

Chromatica is also the name of the world Gaga will live on in this new album , and she will try to make love win in that world or somthing

i was searching for ideas online, saw gardenia and thought of mandy moore song lmaooo i'm mad though after a few days, because i thought of an island name i'd like more

Luna Bay, luna bc I love sailor moon and moons are cool period, and bay bc of Noki Bay in Super Mario Sunshine.

Mine is Papyrus. I was going back and forth between a couple names, Polygraph being the runner-up. But, I wanted to dedicate my island (or at least it's name) to my absolute favorite skeleton... he deserves so much more

Vanille which is French for vanilla, I have been using that name in honor of a character in ffxiii for a lot of games and this one was no exception. I really connected to that character.

I grew up in a town called Exeter. I teach English. My island is called ExIsle. Play on words was too hard to avoid.

I like having Paw in my town name. In New Leaf it was Pawville, in New Horizon I went with Pawaii because puns. It's like Hawaii or kawaii, but with paw in the name. Not going for a Hawaiian theme or anything, just a fun name. c:

In short, my island Snow Cove is named after my cat Snowy.

Long version, Got City Folk for Christmas and just wanted to play so I slapped together the name Snowvil(l)e (Snowy my cat + ville cause it was a town lol). When I got New Leaf once again just wanted to start playing so reused previous name. That was when I got into online and with the dream address feature I felt like my town name implied it was a winter themed town or something. Also with 8 character limit it was actually Snowvile (lol so maybe people thought it was a summer themed town) but I just lie to myself and pretend there's another L. For New Horizons I had come up with a list of various names. Some used my username as inspiration other's used my cat. Still hadn't decided when game came out so I pestered all my family members into picking their favourite name from my massive list they all picked Snowcove. Then I made them all vote if it should be one or two words (can you tell I can't make decisions?) and two words won.

My island is named Barrymore.. after Drew herself lol. I named my new leaf town was named Winona (because it sounded pretty lol), and when i was lost for what to name my island i figured that since winona ryder and drew barrymore were both more popular in the 90s (plus i like scream and always thought drew barrymore's name sounded cool), it would be a nice, somewhat connected island name :)

My island name is Redlands as it is the town I live in IRL for the past year that me and my bf absolutely love. We named it Redlands to remember the town after we move away soon

my island name is Midonia.
basically, the name was inspired by two things. the first thing was my favorite character, Midna from TLOZ:TP - her Japanese name, Midona (which i love) interested me a lot. while the japanese version of her name is pronounced the same way as 'Midna,' the island is supposed to read as it sounds - mi - do - ne - a. the second thing, the 'ia' part is an homage to my previous town if you will, which ended with the same thing.

Mine is called Rogueport after the same one in Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door. In that game it was a misfit town where the otherwise innocent looming creatures (goombas, toads, etc.) were all thieves and highwaymen.

I did the same with my town: it’s a pirate town where I try to collect tough looking villagers and other rogues.
