Although there are a few actions or traits that everybody can agree on are among the most evil, everybody has different standards of when the line is crossed. Like some could say that lying is worse than bigotry, or that rape is worse than murder, even though in both examples, many would think it’s the other way around. And two different acts are worse than each other for different reasons. Keep in mind that this thread isn’t about the worst crime you can commit, but rather what‘s the worst thing you can do based on morality. Basically speaking, what traits makes people more immoral than others?

In my opinion, I’m going with treachery (also known as betrayal). It’s fine if you have to leave your family or state (or country) to fulfill your dreams or live in an optimal location. It’s also fine to break from your family or friends if they’re the ones doing something evil. But to abandon your family or support your homeland’s enemies for your self-interests is the lowest thing you can do. Sacrificing your family, friends, or your nation to get what you want is very immoral, and dangerous.

Another action among the lower points of morality I would like to mention is retaliating to criticism or silencing others from giving criticism. Of course those who do evil things are going to be criticized. Retaliating to it makes you even worse, and is going to earn you a reputation for that and not just what you’re criticized for. In addition, silencing criticism is like hiding the truth, but by hurting others.

pedophilia. rape. abusing/abandoning animals (i’m not talking about those who do the responsible thing by taking their pet to the humane society but about those who abandon their pets in a box or tied up somewhere).

Spreading misinformation that leads to the harming of other individuals, such as spreading this current administration's lies about COVID-19, lying about WMDs, or telling people to injest bleach

Of course, what Mariah and xara say above me qualifies as well.

Honestly there’s so many things :/
Rape, pedophillia, torture, abuse... I think the worst things are when people are still left suffering after the act itself is over :c

For me, it's harming animals. There are a lot of horrible things that people do and I agree that all of the things everybody listed above are terrible, but hurting innocent animals is the worst in my eyes. It's just inexcusable.

Intellectually speaking, morality wildly varies to the point where it’s not even worth talking about the values within as above or below each other for me at least. As for my opinion, I think the actions that scare me the most are done when someone understands the pain they will cause (not just ignoring/forgoing empathy) and feels it themselves but then despite all that goes through with it. I think that’s as close to an answer as I got.

Hoarding and/or abusing animals, hoarding useless objects like empty plastic wrappers and rusty spoons (it causes serious problems including social distancing), pedophilia, rape, human trafficking, sexism (including the LGBTQ+-phobes), racism, other forms of discrimination, human abuse in all forms (not just physical, but also verbal and mental, like I underwent ), genocide, kidnapping, murder, bullying, blackmailing with threats, theft, slavery, terrorism, the disappearance of the 'true' nature, pollution... excuse me for not having enough fingers to sum it all up, but the world is so much more cruel than most of the people think. Just the thought of this breaks my heart.

I’d say there are a lot of things. What bothers me most is when people are mean to others for absolutely no reason at all. I can’t stand bullies and hatred.

Facts.

And another thing is bullying people for belonging to a minority, or for not conforming to what is "normal". Normality is over-rated in my opinion.
