My game play is pretty much decorating and forgetting about anything else.
Just me staring at some places for hours trying to imaging that one item that will look great there. I don’t know how people have their islands ready in weeks. It takes me weeks to just get tiny corners ready.
Like 2x2 size corners.
Other times it takes me whole days trying to trade for items to beautify my island.
Then there’s times I love my island and think I’m almost done decorating, and other times I feel like I still have half the island left. Just the other day I placed this lawn mower and gushed about how the colors complimented the house and flowers next to it. Yesterday I passed by it and it was bothersome. I had to take it down.
Anyways, I love the game, but mostly it’s just me walking round and around the island looking into space, and occasionally catching critters, getting materials, and talking.
That’s just my gameplay
For me, I like to have daily things that I look forward to so it keeps me engaged with the game. Things like trying to breed my own flowers and I rotate some villagers so I can keep collecting photos. I don't pressure myself into finishing my island. Sometimes I just leave the game open with my character just vibing in my favorite parts of my island lol
I've two islands. On one I represent everything wrong with today's youth (just like in real life, although in actuality I'm too close to 30 for comfort) and on the other I like to pretend that I am a Bavarian prince.
My island theme is rural tropical island/jungle so I try to lead a more "natural" lifestyle rather than fancy. My play style now consists of me playing ACNH in bursts a couple times a month rather than every day like I use to when the game came out. I still have a large section of my island to decorate but I'm just not really motivated right now to complete it and hope that the incorporation of more events/furniture/buildings from future updates will inspire me.
I'm still working on a few achievements that the game leads you to and being able to unlock some Nook Miles stuff (such as terraforming), but mostly just chilling out doing whatever
My island doesn't have a real style yet and I don't have any plans right now, other than cleaning up the mess of overflow stuff (I might like to make something urban-ish at some point idk)
just chill I guess? i enjoy gifting clothing to my villagers and decorating the island. also the standard fishing/bug catching/etc. the enjoyment of animal crossing for me will always be just walking around and enjoying the sights tbh
I'm currently paying off my second characters house. I want to get another character after that and pay off their house too. Then I want to work on decorating my house, and the 2 other houses. Make an outdoor library, café, and Harry Potter area. I'm also trying to complete my catalog. So basically I'm fishing most of the time to make bells to do all this. When I play I spend a few hours fishing, collecting fruit if it's grown in, collecting/ assessing, and selling fossils, paying off home loans, and trying to expand my catalog. Plus I enjoy talking to my villagers. And I sometimes send a letter to myself for a future date, something uplifting. Like my last one I sent recently is supposed to be delivered to me in October, it says congrats on 6 months stability (I have a mental illness and have recently got on meds that help). Sounds silly but it makes me feel good
I haven't terraformed yet, I want to but don't know where to start. And I'm trying to get the villagers I want. I have 3 left to get, Julian, Bluebear, and Freya
I'm starting to get serious about decorating my island, but it's a slow process. I turn on my switch every day, putter around an empty area, get decision paralysis, and turn it off. I do this for a few days until inspiration strikes and then I decorate until I'm happy with it. I started from the airport and I'm slowly working inwards.
I’ve recently been trying to just play less. Not because i don’t love the game but because i don’t want it to feel like a chore. Like I want to decorate because it’s a fun creative outlet not because i’m feeling pressured to “finish” an island.
It’s been a great change of pace. Like i’ve recently re-pathed my entire island with a version of The Path and it took me a couple days to do it, but i’ve been very proud and happy with the results thus far.
I think my play style is just easy going for the moment. Playing when i’m inspired and not feeling bad about not playing for a couple days. The only thing that makes me sad is not seeing my villagers everyday, they’re so cute
my island is more cottagecore/natural vibes, i think. and my character style is more "farmer" ourfits. ^^
i always check on my villagers and talk to them (to gain more friendships), read the mails, go for a walk and see if the rain/snow made some new flowers and remove them (don't want many flowers on my island Cx).
i spend less time in the game now than the beginning but still wanting for more updates in the game. C:
