As far as clothing and whatnot go?

I don't really have a particular one. I tend to wear whatever's easiest, like jeans and a tshirt, or since the pandemic started that's changed to mostly yoga pants/sweat pants and t shirts. lol However, I'm wanting to be a little more stylish so I've been looking at different fashion ideas online on Pinterest. I want to start doing my nails and putting a little more effort into my appearance. I know appearances don't really matter, I just feel a little better when I look nice, it's kind of like self care, though years of my mental illness have caused me not to care what I look like, but I'm feeling better now and want to change that. So what kinds of things do you like to wear? :)

I'm a huge 80s pop culture nerd so I love to dress in styles that were common in the 80s (as well as the 90s). from the top down:
- the only thing I haven't replicated from the 80s is the big hair fad lol. I've never been a fan of using hairspray or chemicals, and I certainly don't like teasing hair. my hair is just flat (and now it's actually short too).
- I occasionally wear a baseball cap, used to be more common but I haven't really worn them recently with my hair being shorter. I'm thinking of trying the look again, particularly wearing the hat backwards.
- I love graphic shirts and tie-dye shirts!! I have a ton of them! I also just recently started wearing long sleeve t-shirts under short sleeve ones, that was a big thing in the late 80s and 90s (not to mention modesty empowers me).
- I always wear high-waisted jeans, have been since around 2015. I also like to tuck my shirt into my jeans a lot to show off my waist-line, as well as wearing a belt.
- In terms of tennis shoes I always wear Converse, again I have been since around 2013.
- despite being nb I still love wearing things like bracelets (mostly bangles and jelly bracelets) and necklaces.

I like to look at pics of my parents and family from the 1980s-90s to get some tips on how to dress. I guess I'm technically not following trends but in a way I also am following trends lol 🤷‍♂️ 🤩

as a kid i was super tomboyish and didn't care about my appearance at all, with the 'not like other girls' complex where i thought being interested in makeup and clothes was superficial and too feminine. now i'm the complete opposite! i love makeup and clothes and like to wear them in a way that combines hyperfeminine with darker, more masculine elements and silhouettes. i find fashion so interesting and love using pinterest for inspiration. i also notice how my feelings about the way i dress and what i wear depend on where i am; when i'm at home in my smaller town, i feel reluctant to dress the way i do and worry it's too revealing or dramatic. whereas when i'm at uni in london i often feel boring and underdressed and will wear outfits that would be controversial at home just to get groceries.

my current staples are my knee high platform boots which i love more than life itself, the summer dresses i've bought lately that it's not really warm enough to wear but i love the long and flowing silhouettes, and my leather blazer. i've also been wearing winged eyeliner everyday since i was 16 to the point where it's the number one thing people associate me with - i enjoy having a very specific and consistent thing within my style that other people know me for, and i have a lot of fun with it by buying eyeliners in other colours, too.

i still like my look to be low maintenance - i don't think i have the time and effort for lash extensions and acrylic nails, although i think they look lovely on others. i think the way i dress creates an illusion of effort although i never spend more than 15 minutes getting ready. i've been painting my nails a lot lately though, it makes me feel so much more put together.

Fluctuates between goth and punk when I actually leave the house. I've a lot of tattoos and piercings and usually have my (currently green) hair styled in a mohawk.

On days I don't see anyone I care less about achieving a particular aesthetic. e.g. today I'm wearing white shorts with an Aloha shirt and my hair is tied in a topknot. I wouldn't go any further than my garden dressed like this but I'm working from home and have no video calls today so I don't care. 😂

despite the fact that i do care about my appearance, i haven’t put too much effort into it, especially since the pandemic started; my nails are often unpainted, i’ve never been one to accessorize, etc. i do my best to ensure that i always look as presentable as possible but my style is pretty simple so i usually just wear hoodies, t-shirts, tights, sweatpants, etc. i don’t go out in public looking like a mess but i want to be comfortable, too aha. definitely wish that i was more stylish, though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

i dont know whatever my grandma buys me so im obviously not stylish. i want to be more stylish but im broke so yeah i cant really buy clothes lol

I don’t think I have a sense of style tbh haha I wear what I’m comfortable in - which has been pjs most of the time since the pandemic!

I do like more indie/skater type of clothing - skinny jeans/baggy jumpers etc with vans or converse. I also like an oversized shirt& tshirt combo. Also a big fan of headbands (I hate hair touching my face so wear one most of the time), and when I’m feeling fancy I’ll wear some jewellery like earrings or necklaces.

I used to have a sense of style pre-pandemic lol. When I was in grad school I used to wear a lot of dark academia sort of grungy professorial type of clothes. Lots of mock necks, so many sweaters and collared blouses with big coats and all that. I loved to dress up.

Now? I change from my sleeping pajamas into my working pajamas. The fussy clothes will likely never be worn again lol.

Currently I'm in the process of revamping my wardrobe before I start university, so this is interesting,, (I purged most of my clothes since they're super old and don't fit me since I've lost weight). I actually really like fashion so this is a fun subject for me haha. I have a lot of clothes I want to buy rn.

In terms of the clothes I actually own and wear out, I generally prefer dark colours (my colour palette is basically black, white, grey, brown, burgundy). I try to go for a cool, slightly edgy, classic look, so kind of rocker chic? I like tighter, fitted tops and usually wear jeans or mini skirts with them. I prefer wearing chunky boots over any other shoes. ALSO I love knitwear a lot, I always gravitate towards it first when I'm shopping.

At home I just wear leggings and my old oversized jumpers, hoodies, and sweatshirts lol, but I'm planning on getting better loungewear soon since most of my old stuff is too big and full of holes or paint stains 😅

I like makeup too, but I haven't had the chance to wear it very often for the past year!

I've always loved Japanese street fashion. I like the disjointed (but still somehow harmonious) clothing pieces that get put together, the oversized tops and sweatshirts, and the accessorising. I also love how some of the cuts and shapes of the clothing itself can be quite unique and interesting.
Japanese streetwear covers a lot of aesthetics but in particular I tend to dress towards the more grungy side of it - piercings/chains on my trousers/chain choker thingy/beanies. It's either full throttle grunge, or grunge-lite™ - depends on where I'm going or who I am meeting (grandma gets grunge-lite me for example lol).
Being dressed like that is when I feel most like myself. Saying that, I do sometimes flip it all on it's head and wear really light summery clothes with bright prints and patterns (albeit with a touch of grunge still present somehow lol).

Pretty 60s-70s hippie/cool dude style basically. I still enjoy tiedye and boho dresses but been a bit more toned down lately. Also at work I basically wear a t-shirt/sweater with my "working pants" aka. a pair of corduroy pants i use for it.

I love wearing crop tops! Almost always, I'm wearing a crop top, even in winter lol. For bottoms, I love skinny high waisted jeans, or high waisted shorts. Basically high waisted everything. I love cozy sweaters and cardigans to wear over top. For jackets, I just like having a variety from light windbreakers to casual jean jackets to bomber jackets, leather, parkas, etc. For shoes, I like wearing my white sneakers or casual slip ons like Tom's in the warmer months and then boots in the wet and colder months. Also, it must be said, I love "ugly" patterns. Things that look like a grandma would wear, or my mom would wear in the 90's. I also kinda love frumpy old looking stuff to wear over my clothes! Hehe. It just feels comfortable and cozy.

When I’m not at work I either wear something more casual like band tees, black skinny jeans, and old skool vans. Or when I feel like putting a little more effort in I’ll wear a mini skirt, crop top of some sort, fishnets/stockings, and my jadon platform doc martens. That’s my go to combo. High waisted plaid mini skirt and black crop top. I only shop online so most of my clothes are from dolls kill, hot topic, or etsy lol.

I have this exact skirt in 5 different colors of plaid. It’s so comfy and well made.

I don't know if I really have a set style in terms of giving it a name but I love wearing dresses and skirts and have an overall "soft" feminine style. It's rare to find me in jeans/pants but I do wear high waisted ones occasionally. I usually wear peplum tops & cardigans with them. When I was still working as a preschool teacher it was really cute when I'd wear those tops because my kids would tell me I was "wearing a shirt with a little skirt!" lmao

If I had unlimited amounts of money I would love to wear more vintage style clothing from the 1940's-60's. I absolutely adore knee length circle or gathered skirts/dresses. Anything that's a little more loose fitting on the bottom vs tight and has a bit of volume to it. I love knee length (or a bit longer) because I have scarring on my legs that I don't particularly enjoy having visible and the length just makes me feel more comfortable when walking around and whatnot.

At the moment I do own a handful of skirts although they're either not full circle skirts or have some bigger pleats in them (I think they might be box pleats?) so they still have a bit of volume and aren't super form fitting or anything. I love all of them as well but I definitely want to get more circle skirts. That's the main reason I decided to try and learn how to sew. Circle skirts aren't actually that hard to sew (and gathered skirts are even easier!) but they're not super common to see in stores, especially at my preferred length. Even less common are dresses with full circle skirts and when I do find them, my goodness are they expensive.

For tops I love ones with quarter length sleeves and prefer higher cut tops or ones with little collars on them. I love cardigans with embroidery, lace detailing, and/or pretty buttons as well as knit sweaters! For my shoes it's nothing special, lol. I have some docs I wear that I got for my 18th birthday (they're holding up so well!!) and then usually just sneakers because, again, I was a preschool teacher and needed shoes that were easy to move in. I think heels are cute but I don't have the balance for them, lol.

My makeup I generally keep pretty soft and stick to pinks but I am a sucker for sparkly eyeshadows, lol. My hair is naturally pin straight and doesn't love holding a curl which is a bummer. It's gotten pretty long over the pandemic (...I was already a year late on getting a haircut before the pandemic so) which makes holding a curl even trickier but when I put the effort in I'll use rollers over night. They're definitely not the comfiest so I don't do it all the time but the curls it gives are so pretty. I'll brush them out for that vintage look and then I always pin some of it to the side. I can't wait to get my haircut because then it'll hold curl better and won't take as long to put up in rollers when I feel like doing that. I do have hot rollers as well but my hair doesn't hold curl as well with them unless I use them and then put sponge rollers in and leave those for like an hour or two.

I love that skirt! Please tell me where I can buy that :)

I don't have much of a style. I go for comfort over style. At home, I'm always in pajama pants and loose-fitting T-shirts. When I go out, I usually wear loose-fitting T-shirts/sweatshirts, bootcut jeans, and my Timberland boots. Boots have actually been a staple of my wardrobe for decades. I can't imagine wearing any other type of shoes. So whether it's hiking boots, combat boots, granny boots, or dress boots, boots are pretty much the only footwear I wear.

On the rare occasions when I choose style over comfort, I prefer the goth/punk look. Lots of black and plaid. Chains, straps, and belts. I don't have the piercings or wild hair to complete the look, and I'm bit too old for it now, but in my 20's and early 30's that was my go-to style.

My style is basically sports. All of my shirts are sports teams. I almost always wear track pants. I have a few hats as well. I also love hockey jerseys, even though my team literally sucks right now.

I tend to wear casual clothing, as I have to wear more formal clothes at work.
