I'm sure this has been asked many times before, but where do you think the game will go after New Horizons has run its course? How does it improve on the features it is implementing in this new game? What will need to be adjusted/added/removed?

They need to remove/make optional autosave.

Holidays need to be put back in the game, instead of having them as DLC.

It would be great to have the removed NPC's back in the game. There wasn't any reason to get rid of them.

Shampoodle and Re-Tail will be missed.

Bring back Tortimer island and the tours.

Get rid of the Nook Phone and all the apps.

Improve the plastic graphics, especially the hair.

Make it feel like it's AC at it's core again.

I think gaming in general will just become less frequent with releases. Nintendo wants you to keep your online subscription, so every game will have to keep evolving until there's a new console. We're more likely to see spinoff remakes than a new title imo.

New Horizons will definitely remain the Animal Crossing experience for a long time. Even New Leaf had 7 years, and it's pretty much outdated by now as well. But it'll be harder for New Horizons to be outdated, when Nintendo can just push updates whenever they like.

They’ve answered a lot of the issues we had in NL, and although this game looks amazing I’m sure we’ll still find flaws or things that can be improved upon.

I’m interested to see where the next game will go but can’t imagine it’s in the pipeline anytime soon. It’ll be a good few years before Nintendo even think about releasing another main game!

Thank you for addressing these! I totally agree.

honestly? i have no idea. i feel like new horizons will receive a fair amount of updates as time goes on that might add or take away certain features but new horizons will definitely be the main game for a long time and we’ll likely have to wait even longer than seven years for the next mainline game

from a literal standpoint, animal crossing has taken place in a city, forest, and now island, so perhaps the next location would be to "go" to the mountains or something like that. Or perhaps even a cloud kingdom :O

I’m not sure where AC can go from here. Then again, people said they weren’t sure what could happen after NL and now here we are.

A mountain theme might be fun. There could be a whole cave aspect to it. I could dig that.

Horizons isn't even out yet, its too early to make predictions or share desires in my mind. I need some hands on time with the game for a while for perspective on where it could go and where I'd like it to go!
