Al and Boyd. Al just looks kind of weird and Boyd doesn't have anything special going on. But they both became one of my many favorites after having them around. Al would give me letters and gifts. Boyd basically treated me nicely for a cranky. Eventually Al moved. I was really sad when he did.
I had a plot open and was island hunting for Pietro and learned that some villager named Del was moving in and i had no idea they could do that at the time. I thought Del looked weird on top of taking the spot i had for Pietro but he really grew on me, especially with seeing him interact with the other villagers. Now he’s one of my favorites

For me, it was Coach. I was looking for a Jock after Sheldon left and got him when I was low on NMT. At first I was like "eww, stupid bull" but then I WAS kinda desperate, so I looked him up online. I saw he was the only bull who's not cranky or lazy and I thought... that's kind of neat. So, I caved and invited him. And he's just really grown on me since! The more I look at him, the cuter he is (love the stubble) and I kind of made a little backstory in my mind where he's a retired coach who just can't stop acting like a coach, 'cause that's what he is deep down ☺ He was also my first birthday in game, I believe, and I used Harv's island for the first time to make this-
(I fortunately already had the "Mom's Handmade Cake" item 'cause she sent it to my main character... absolutely randomly. Still dunno why )
Anyway, share the villagers who grew on you! Who knows, maybe other people will grow to love them a little more, too
Coach cheerleader here! He was my first villager in New Horizons and I hated him for awhile(not a fan of jocks) he was always so kind and sweet to me tho. I noticed he had really grown on me when I had replaced 7 of my villagers with sheep and he was still there. I almost didn't want to let him go because well, we were friends.
He went to live with a friend of mine when I got Dom and didn't want to void him. So I visit him time to time and he asks me if I'm keeping up Azure Reefs fitness regiments. im not, Dom gave my island the zoomies tho
Lyman's eyebrows are weird... IDK if anyone here saw the sitcom Teachers when it was on, but in one of the earliest episodes one of the teachers got their eyebrows accidentally shaved off before school pictures, and drew new ones on with sharpie, and... his eyebrows look exactly like that
Ahem. Anyway. He kinda falls into the "so weird they're adorable" category.
And, is it just me, or is every personality a little sweeter in this game? Jocks like Lyman always struck me as kind of... IDK, a bit dull personality wise. But they seem so m

Not gonna lie, those two aren't my favorites (I'm just... super picky with gorillas for some reason) BUT sometimes the weirdest looking ones can really grow on you! And I just have a soft spot for crankies- they start off rude, but it doesn't take long to crack that tough exterior. And I can see being sad when they left, after all that

I had the EXACT same thing happen! Well, not, exactly, exactly, since I had the open plot saved for an Amiibo villager... but then discovered they don't move in right away, and I had to "court" him a few days (it was Dobie, I got him eventually). Del moved in and I was grumpy, but then realized he actually fit really well in Dobie's spot. I had him for quite awhile (moved him for Dobie, though) but DID eventually want him out because I didn't want two crankies, and I wanted to get some other villagers. I eventually moved him out for Plucky (who I also didn't love at first, but she's REALLY grown on me- she runs around pretending to fly all the time and it's precious) but I still have fond memories of him!
I find her as someone who puts on a lot of make-up in order to “fit in,” even though she has talents in other areas. I also love Judy because she seems like someone who is so musically talented. When designing her yard, I kept this in mind, and I added a piano.
Aww, I love that backstory ☺ See, I actually didn't like her much at first, either. She's cute just... a little over the top for me. But the more I've seen people gush about her, and the more I've really looked at her, she's grown on me, too! Even though I've never actually HAD her. But if I saw her on an island I'd definitely take her now!

Klaus. He was my forced camper. I already had a bear (Teddy) and also didn’t care for the frown. Or the toilet/bidet combo lol.
But I love watching him read - he’s surprisingly adorable in glasses and has some pretty funny expressions. And at the wedding party he scares himself with the party popper, relatable lol. I really like his house exterior too, and he gets points for listening to K.K. Sonata. He was also first to give me his photo.
I do plan on letting him go when he asks to move, but he definitely did grow on me and I’m glad I’ll have videos of him to look back on.
Roald. I usually hate jock villagers but the irony in him being a jock yet being so round and chubby made it funny and cute. And I like his house interior
I was taking Diana reluctantly (I didn’t like any snooties in past games but I needed to fill all the personalities) but now she’s my favorite from NH. She’s perfectly fine with my character being feral (she only says I look less adorable with a wasp sting) and I’ve caught her doing things like hanging out with best jock Sterling and sitting in a leaf pile whilst sipping soda.
Reluctantly, even though I just posted him in the 10 nightmaries thread and have been complaining about him a lot, I have come here to confess that I don't hate Rodney as much as I did in the beginning anymore. I will still have him move out once he asks (which so far, the little rat hasn't done) but it's become such a thing wishing he'd move out that it has almost become part of my island now. I've also been having fun giving him weird gifts and he gave me some cool stuff back. I still don't like his design but the one on my island is my weird, annoying Rodney and I value him for that.
Since two days ago....I’ve been starting to really like Barold. That’s just very surprising to me right now. Haven’t decided if I want him in the island yet, but I kind of do.
Quillson! He was my forced campsite move-in and I absolutely hated him. I hated his aesthetic, I hated his vibe, and I'm not usually a fan of smug villagers anyway. I came to love him by listening to his conversations with my other villagers, I think that when he's just talking to me he repeats the same 5 things, but when he's talking to my other villagers his actual personality shines through and I love that. He's now one of my favorite villagers in town, and he was the first to give me his photo!
