I actually don't remember why or how I started playing. I think I bought Animal Crossing New Leaf for whatever reason. Might have been because a friend of mine back then played it... 2014 was so long ago.
Why did you start playing Animal Crossing?

Im not quite sure either. I just remember having a wild world cartridge and loving it.
I've been somewhat interested in trying out Animal Crossing for such a long time, but I was finally pushed to get New Leaf last year. Around this time last year, I remember a lot of my friends in my school's Japanese club played and talked about the game during the club's meetings, and after hearing them talk about it enough I eventually bought the game digitally last year the second I got the chance to
When I was little my mother bought me a GameCube and Animal Crossing with it. It was my first real video game. I was too young to even read so her and my older brother would read everything for me. 
It was the start of my love for video games.

my uncle gave city folk to me on my birthday one year and i tried it out. didn't get hooked until a while later tho
When I was younger I went to the Dominican Republic to visit family. My oldest cousin had a game cube and he always played animal crossing. I fell in love with it and played it with him all the time. When we left, I asked for the game for christmas and got it!

I started years ago to play with a friend but eventually stopped. However, I started up New Leaf once again just because the game is pure relaxation. Perfect stress-free game to play while going through graduate school.

I remember that my brother had got a DS for Christmas one year, and Wild World was poppin' so he bought that for his console. I would watch him play it, and i became obsessed with the concept of the game. Then my mum got me a DS for Christmas too and i got Wild World. I fell in love with this game so much, and me and my brother would visit each others town and have a blast. I've been hooked on the franchise ever since
I started playing Animal Crossing because my old best friend happened to be playing when we were on a field trip one time and a teacher was driving us there. She just happened to be playing Wild World at the time and as I watched her play it, it peaked my interest. So I got my mom to get me a ds and Animal Crossing: Wild World and that's how I started playing. I've been playing ever since then and have loved all the series since then.

my mother and father got me a nintendo 3ds without any games,,, so we went to our huge old mansion-house where a lot of our relatives lived and asked my aunt for some 3ds games she didnt use anymore. one of the many games she gave me was new leaf, i played a lot of the other games she gave me first, with an occasional visit to acnl, but when i started playing more often BOY was I hooked ♡

My best friend's brother had a Gamecube and Animal Crossing. I remember I spent hours watching him play it. The image of him kicking around a soccer ball in the bushes is etched into my brain. Probably that next Christmas my sister and I begged our parents for the system and the game. And that's how it all began!

I only wanted to get the game because my sisters wouldn't play with me with other games at all, they only wanted to play ACNL, so what I did is I worked around the house by cleaning up stuff and help my mom so I can earn the ACNL game.
And I did, and so I was happy that now I can play with my sisters again, but after years passed by now my sisters don't play on ACNL no more, they just go on the game just to check on to see a villager is moving out.
So there that's my story and yes I'm no fan of ACNL, I'm not even really active on that game no more.

In 2013 my buddy girl was into ACNL and recommended me to play. I started as a 2nd character in her town, but then one day she cut all the trees in her island while what I loved at the time was bug farming every night. Which made me even cry ( yes I did for real, no please don't say that's silly ) and I decided to have MY OWN town. Now I have 6 towns and it's one of conversation that I and this girl have often.

That is a very funny and unique reason! xD I'm so glad you did though because so many people on here have had positive experiences because of you my very dear friend (1,000+ feedback
)! The fact you have 6 towns still blows my mind! lol The reason why I started playing AC was that I was introduced to the series through a friend 14+ years ago back in the Gamecube days and I received my first copy about a year or so later on my 11th birthday!
I have been enjoying the series ever since and it has made my life better!

My best friend when I was 11 introduced me to wild world, I already had a DS so I bought the game and we always play together!
Years later we're no longer friends...
But my ex bf also played the game, and for my 21st he actually BOUGHT ME a 2DS with new leaf!! so even though we broke up 3 years ago I will be forever grateful for the best gift he ever bought me, I'm now nearly 25 and still playing animal crossing

In elementary school, my best friend had a DS and she showed me Animal Crossing: Wild World. I really liked the game and the handheld so my mom got me them that x-mas. Ever since then I have loved Animal Crossing!
