Will you be buying Physical or Digital?

I've always been a fan of physical copies so that's my go-to option. I also love collecting the cool cases and the covers.

Aww... It really sucks that the save data is stored on the system itself. Didn't they do that with the wii?I really don't like that at all? What if something happens to the system? Then what?I guess you can't have both physical and digital copies so I'll go with physical. At least with physical you get the box art. I've always preferred physical copies compared to the digital versions because it's tangible.Collecting games just feels so satisfying when they're physical copies for some reason.

i almost always buy physical copies of games and i will most definitely buy a physical copy of animal crossing switch :3 i'm kinda sentimental in that way i guess. sure physical copies take up space and there's the hassle of switching cartridges all the time but there's just something special to me about having a physical copy

I agree I would rather have the copy. Just having the case and all that feels better to me.

Physical for me. This way if something happens to my Switch, I'll still have the physical copy. Plus, I never like downloading things on my consoles and I don't mind switching out the games I play.

Physical unless a deal pops up that seems good enough to go Digital.

Definitely physical so I own the box. There's just something satisfying about owning a physical, tangible copy.

Although if they release a limited edition Switch with a digital download code I'll get that and a physical copy I don't even care lmfao I need everything AC

Any particular reason why?

Prob because data corruption and the like

Physical- I hate buying digital games. All it takes is being locked out your Nintendo account to lose ?100s worth of games. I had an issue with that and my last 3DS.

Plus, physical means less storage taken up on my console!

Unless Animal Crossing supports cloud saves, data corruption is going to be a fear we all will constantly face regardless of whether we own digital or physical seeing as how save data is stored on the Switch itself.

Physical. I have a digital version of NL, because it came with the the 3DS XL limited edition at the time, but I'd rather have a physical copy.

Also physical here. I find it feel super uncomfortable/uneasy by thinking of having digital, it's just, I need something to HAVE on my hand, like proof it's right there. Seeing it being on digital/internet is something making me feel like its not proof at all. That's just me haha.

I hate to break it to you, but ALL of your Switch save data is stored locally now. Save files are all stored, regardless of the game, on your Switch itself, not on the cartridges. If your Switch randomly breaks, you're going to lose everything anyway unless you have the Online subscription and Cloud Saves enabled

Sorry for dumb question, but if i understood this correctly, with no online subscription, there's no way to save files on it? Not even on SD card like, transfer save file into SD card at all?

I'm assuming they'll have a limited edition bundle that comes with the digital version pre loaded. So if that's the case I'll just buy that, but maybe get it physical down the road just for collectible purposes.
I used to only like physical copies, but I've bought a few digital games lately and I really like the convenience. My switch case doesn't have room for more than four games so it's inconvenient to carry around my game library. I also like switching between games without popping out the cartridges. But, I'm still a collector at heart, so the pull of owning the physical copy is strong haha.

Probably physical because I sometimes share towns with my sister. Just to be safe I can do physical for different switches, though if she gets her own copy I will probably do digital

Physical. Digital is easier, because you don't have to swap out cartridges, but I rather prefer something I can hold in my hands. This goes for all Ninendo games. Probably because of DS nostalgia.

I'd like physical but unless the european copy has jp language enabled I will probably go digital, as even with preorder I would be waiting a month most like for a jp copy to get here, unless I could take a trip there but, expensive times lol

I have to explain something to you because you have made it clear a few times that you are planning on making things needlessly difficult and expensive for yourself. Not to mention a colossal waste of your time.

There exists only one SKU for Switch games. The SKU is universal, as it covers all regions at once. There technically is no American copy of Breath of the Wild, just the same as no European or Japanese copy exists. This is because of the Switch being openly region free and all regions sharing the same version of the game between all regions.

For example: Okami HD released on the Switch eShop in the US, but Japan got a physical edition. Because I didn't intend on playing the game anytime soon, I ordered a copy of the physical edition. Upon loading the game card in my Switch, I was not presented with the Japanese version of Okami, but the same exact version of the game that was available on the eShop for months prior. Why is that? Because it shares the same SKU as the version of the game that is available on all eShops around the world, and the version of the game that is loaded is not determined by the region in which you bought the game from, but the region in which your Nintendo account is set to.

In a nutshell, if you import a physical copy if Animal Crossing from Japan and you play it on your main profile that is set to your home region(something I believe that cannot be changed now on current firmware), you aren't going to get the Japanese version of the game, but the same exact game that you could walk out to your local brick and mortar and pick up off the shelf.

It isn't like the past with the 3DS where American and Japanese copies differed from each other. Switch games are the same no matter where you buy them from, and the version you get to play is entirely dependent on your own console settings.

In closing, if you import you're only going to get the box art with a Japanese logo and a different sticker on the game card. The game that loads on your Switch will be the European version with whichever region language is your native. The only way you circumvent this is create a new profile on your Switch and set the region to Japan, then all of your games will load with Japanese text if available.
