Worst fandoms and hatedoms

oh god lol. personally i think leafy’s fans are pretty obnoxious, keemstars, etc. and also fandoms centered around politics/political commentators get so toxic so quickly lol

K-pop, definitely worst fandom.

Worst hatedom is basically any cancel/digging culture... like stop blacklisting someone cause a thing they said once in the 80s.

Definitely K-Pop as the absolute worst fandom. No question there.

From what I've seen, Splatoon has a pretty bad hatedom. Stop saying it's bad just because you play Fortnite, it's very annoying and you don't even know what it's about (I've actually been in a conversation about this with someone who is like this)

In my opinion, the worst fandom/hatedom out there is the Pokémon Sword/Shield Hatedom. According to Toxic Fandoms & Hatedoms Wiki, there are 73 reasons why they are considered toxic, but some of these reasons are more interesting. The best reasons proving this point:

1. They felt no remorse that one of the employees of Game Freak was diagnosed with COVID-19 and wished that everyone at Game Freak got COVID. Because of the timing of the incident, this is no different to wishing that someone got sent to Auschwitz during the Holocaust. And this is all because not all Pokémon are available in Sword and Shield.

2. They claimed that their harassment towards Game Freak is simply “criticism”, but when they’re called out for their poor behavior, they feel threatened and silenced.

3. They called everyone who purchased the game “fake fans” and blamed them for the decline in quality since the game sold very well.

4. They vandalized Pokémon Sword/Shield’s Wikipedia page several times.

5. They force their opinions on others, which includes namecalling, but they couldn’t take criticism.

Not even an average Pokémon Sword/Shield hater would do all of what I listed above. It’s the hatedom that’s so poisonous. The Toxic Fandoms Wiki even stated that there are more reasons why the Pokémon Sword/Shield hatedom is bad than any other fandom or hatedom is bad. And I agree with Reason #73 on that page.

TikTokers have such a bad STAN (not fan) base, it's really bad. Also, family vloggers on YT. I'm hoping it's because they're kids and they'll grow out of it, but idk I get concerned when I see young adults and adults defending whatever those people do.

Family vloggers always make me feel a bit uneasy. I doubt that the kids that are portrayed are able to actively consent to their filming. It's one thing to take cute videos of your kid and share them amongst your family and friends, and another to share it with the entire world - it could be especially problematic when the family's income is derived from showing their kids.

I do think though, that it is possible to have a family channel and to still be responsible/have a fairly chill fandom. I think there's a difference between family vloggers and channels that talk about families (especially channels that offer advice).

There's one channel I was watching for example, that does family videos about their adopted family (not the Stauffers!), but the focus of the channel is to share the parents' experience with adoption, and their experiences raising children with disabilities alongside able-bodied children. The parents (mom specifically) are featured more than the kids, so it's more so an "adoption" channel rather than a "family vlog" if that makes sense. The channel is relatively small and its 'fandom' seems to mostly be older adults who are also adoptive parents (or prospective parents), so the vibe is a lot different than some of the large family vlogs like ACE Family.

I mean, the younger kids in that family still aren't able to actively consent to their filming, which is uncomfortable for me, but at least they're not frequently prominently featured in the videos. If they are featured, it's shots like them in the car or playing or whatever, which is a lot more benign than some of the 'challenge/prank/' family vlog videos that are out there.

This could get hurtful when people who belong to these fandoms view this thread, so I'll close this one here. I'd suggest creating threads with a more positive vibe rather than ones that put others down. :)
