in the earlier games, the animal villagers were a lot more direct and even at times 'rude' to the player, this was of course changed in ACNL, did you think that was a good/bad change and would you like to see this make a return in the switch version?
I would be for it, the villagers personalities in New Leaf were incredibly bland and (imo) they literally all seemed the same. It would be funny if they had a bit of a backbone. I was just saying to my hub yesterday that it would be cool that when they give you a gift and if you sell it / give it away the villager who gave you the gift came up to you all angry about it.
Yes! The villagers could difinitely bring some more personality to the next game. The dialog in New Leaf is pretty tame and repetitive.
As someone mentioned earlier, I also like the idea of them holding a grudge when you sell or give them an item they got you or when you refuse to help them. Maybe even bringing it up way later to let you know they haven't forgotten about your ultimate betrayal x) Depending on the friendship level, of course.
I would be for this, as long as they don't go back to stealing your items or painting your roof as other people have said. Realistically, Nintendo probably wouldn't make them exactly like their Gamecube personalities, but perhaps they would let them be a bit ruder at certain points while still retaining their New Leaf personalities for the most part.
I’d rather for them to be needy, and if they don’t get what they want, they talk trash and roast you until you finally do something they don’t want you to do.
Part of the reason I enjoy the game is just how calming of a game it is most times. I'm not too experienced with past Animal Crossing games so I don't know if rudeness is common or not, but I like the villagers how they are in New Leaf.
Absolutely for! I couldn't even tell that my 'cranky' villager was supposed to be cranky when I first started playing acnl. I legit thought that he was supposed to be lazy or smth. Bring back the diversity!!
I would like it to an extent. The New Leaf personalities were cute, but got boring. More dialogue is super important to me, and I love the aspect of actually feeling that you're getting closer with your villagers, like they're warming up to you.
I definitely all for villagers having more of their GameCube qualities! I think what would be interesting is if they had a disposition system in the next game where some villagers are very friendly from the start while some are more rude and take more time for them to like you.
Yea their personalities are too watered down in new leaf. Plus the dialogue is repetitive. I'd like to see them be more reflective of their personalities but also have them warm up to you as your friendship grows, like some sort of middle ground. They could still say typical cranky or snooty lines when you give them an item they dislike or something.
I'm definitely for villagers being rude again. Those watered down personalities in New Leaf are
just lame and way too friendly for my taste. Not only that it feels like that the personalities
are too similar with each other now, as the characteristics of each personality aren't show so
strongly then in the old games, it also bothers me that every villager acts like that they are fine
with everything, they are not for that long angry with you and being happy the whole time. The
dialogue needs also a big development, compare how the dialogue was in the older games with
how it's now in New Leaf, the dialogue was more unique and interesting to read.
If the villagers would act again in the same way as they did in the older games then I would be really
happy. I don't want these always-happy-always-friendly villagers from New Leaf again, they are just
too boring and lame for me.
I'd be here for this! Rude animal interactions feel super nostalgic for me, plus it would definitely help differentiate the personality types even more as I feel like the rudeness really adds to the personalities/characters of the cranky and snooty villagers in particular.
