Eh... I watched about half of it and got bored. I'm a big anime fan too.
Keep in mind that this movie is based off of the Gamecube game. Any characters introduced after that are not present. You will also see Tortimer as mayor, like he was in that game.
^Actually, it's based off of Wild World and not Gamecube. There's probably a few differences, but I know this because Celeste was only introduced in Wild World, but is in the movie.
It's quite a nice movie, but it's not very 'exciting'. When I watched it around 5 years ago when I was a lot longer, I loved it. But now, I don't really like it. It's probably because it is aimed a little more at kids. If you watch anime regularly, you'll probably find it a little bit slow paced, but I'd recommend watching it as it has a good story and makes you think a lot differently about some characters!
I've watched it a fair few times now - I love it. It's really cute, and definitely a feel-good movie. It doesn't exactly have the most thrilling of plots, but I enjoy it nonetheless.
It is weird hearing the villagers called by the English version of the Japanese names, though (for example, Whitney is Bianca).
i quite liked it actually
i watched it again a few days ago actually
like others said its not super exciting, but it is still good, and gives me lots of ideas how i think the wii u/ nx animal crossing game should be xD

Champ was only introduced in Wild World, Celeste, Dr Shrunk, Katie, Kaitlin, and Lyle was only introduced in Wild World, and Gulliver only became an astronaut in Wild World. Also, Kapp'n was only a taxi driver in Wild World, and a lot of the clothes and customisation is based on Wild World, and blue roses were only present Wild World onwards, and it entered production and was released after Wild World was released
