When I started my very first island I had no clue what I was looking for. I was used to old games so I paid attention to the rivers and picked a layout with a cute little island

None of that turned out to matter, I flattened and rebuilt my whole island (I’m down to decorating the last 1/3rd)

Somehow, miraculously though
I randomly got the features I found out later that mattered most/are my first picks:
- blue airport
- big round peninsula
- centered secret beach
- tidepool rocks

I’m beyond pleased, and I also adore the progress I’ve made with my island and house. Looking forward to finishing it, and I’m never going to reset.
If I get bored I can reset my second island lol

I don't think I would. I've reset before and the outcome is never different. Making a new island is quite exciting, especially getting a new set of villagers and having a different layout, but you do get to that point where the excitement fades and then you start questioning why you even bothered resetting in the first place (at least from my experience).

Also, I'm too attached to this island in terms of my villagers and all the progress I've made. I managed to complete 2/3 of my critterpedia and I just couldn't see all that progress deleted, esp with some of those creatures being a complete pain to find.

I wouldn't reset my island, it's the same one I've had since the games release and many hours have gone into completing achievements and decorating it.

I enjoy villager hunting so getting my dreamies back wouldn't be a big problem and I could use my brothers switch to store furniture items, though that would be very time consuming for the amount of things I'd want to keep, but I've completed most of the museum (other then a few art pieces), collected many DIYs (many of which I don't have spares of to hold on another island while I reset) and have finished many of the Nook Miles achievements, with the aim of eventually finishing all of them, and would hate to lose all that progress. Also I've terraformed my island to a point I'm happy with and only have a small part left to decorate so wouldn't want to do that all over again unless I was inspired to make a big change to my island design, but then I'd probably just redecorate the one I have rather then resetting.

A hard NO from me. This game would make me go insane if I had to reset. In all honesty, I wouldn't play the game anymore. Knowing all that I would have to go through to get the furniture that I would need, I would probably give up and play another game instead. If I was forced to though...the DIY hunting would be a nightmare, especially the Celeste DIYs. The forced villagers in the beginning would have to be moved out and I hate forcing out villagers. This game is designed to play from the beginning. I reset a few times in New Leaf. It could be done in that game, but New Horizons...no...for me it can't be done.

It would take a lot more resentment of my current island to make me reset. I do have a few details that I wish were different, but overall I am happy with what I was given by the AC gods. I made a second character for a hot minute - but the slow start and switching characters was driving me crazy, so I booted her.

I got my husband a switch for a wedding gift. Just waiting for him to be done with his Skyrim quests before stealing it for a second island lol

To be fair, the question was would you reset if you could keep your catalogue and your DIYs.
So this would not be an issue in the given scenario

Its still a NO. Even if you could keep your catalogue and DIYs its still a grind and I wouldn't do it. You also have to consider the terraforming aspect. Which you didn't. There is also the grind of dreamie hunting. And no, some people, like myself, don't have amiibos so island hopping is the way to go. Also even if I kept my catalogue the catalogue would have villager pictures from a previous save file that no longer exists. That to me would be just weird. Its like the friendships existed but they didn't.

I probably wouldn’t. I like my airport color and I like my fruit color. Both of which are orange. The only part of my town I was having problems with and struggles a lot with was with my map layout. I had chosen the two southern exits. I managed to make it work though, and I don’t think I would change it anymore.

I remember in new leaf when that was an option, I reset my game because I wasn’t happy with the town name or resident names. I instantly regretted it. When the announcement that new horizons would come out, I had a whole year to plan out different island names and character names. I am very happy with the names I chose. I only hesitant with one of the names (but it’s a side character, and I could delete and rename any time). It helped me a lot that I had a theme in mind and I planned everything thoroughly. I wouldn’t reset now even if it was an option. The idea of having to terraform everything all over again would make me not want to pickup the game again after resetting. Right now where I am at in my game, all mayor terraforming is done. I just have to decorate certain areas that are left. The layout is complete though.

Nope. Too many recipes and catalog options I still don't have to even think about starting over. The first week or so in the game is also really limited and not too interesting.

I voted no. Putting aside catalogue and DIYs, I wouldn't mind losing the stamps/achievements, but I like my current island layout and the sense of history I have with it, so I wouldn't want to lose that.

I've considered resetting before, and was even planning on it recently, but decided against it. I've been playing AC since the GameCube version, and I've never reset any of my games even once, so I don't feel like breaking that trend now. Even if I could keep my catalogue and DIY recipes, it wouldn't change my decision.

If this had been an option my life would be easier right now because I did this to make my all cat island and getting the miles is painful which I forgot because before I reset I had so many. I am time travelling more this time because of this but it’s still so slow

I only restarted once and that was when the game been out for like 5 weeks old or something.
If I was to do it now, that would be a horrible idea since I had it for a long time now.

..Besides Terraforming is already a nightmare.

Nah. I kinda wish I could change my airport color, but it's not worth the effort to reset. It's not just the catalog or DIYs. I'm pretty happy with most of my villagers, it took a lot of time to make my island look nice, etc.

I reset mostly because I hated where my resident services was in relation to my airport. I had my best friend help me shove all the stuff I wanted to keep on her island and started over! I wouldn’t do it again but I’m glad I got the island layout I have now.

I don't think I would. Like others have said, I've put hundreds of hours into my island, but that isn't the main reason.

My island isn't perfect. There are things I wish were different, but it is uniquely mine, and I think any new island would end up with the same flavor to it, so I will keep Deilf Isle, imperfections and all. :)

As things are now I would not reset. Even if we got something akin to Nook buying your island and you're able to keep your catalogue/diy/ect I wouldn't do that either. Just not motivated enough to slog through it all over again. And hear the same music or repeat for a week lol.

Maybe towards the end of this games support I may think about it if there is more content to make it worth my time.

Nope. Catalogue and DIYs are the least of my concern - I wanna keep my villagers and the layout. Although I hate the NM item colours associated with it, I also love my Blue Airport.
