Oooo reset but keep catalog and DIYs? A very tempting proposal but since I wouldn't be able to re-order certain items (nook mile color variations, seasonal items, etc) I think I would decline to reset. It's kind of a pain trying to track down those types of items.
God I wish Nintendo hadn't island-locked the NMT furniture color variations.

There's literally no point in me resetting Magicant. Sure it would be easy because I started off with no concrete theme, but having to start from scratch? No thanks. I'm very content and satisfied with my island and my villagers. I don't have a 100% DIY list and catalog, but I'm not really trying to 100% a game like this, not when new items, clothes and DIYs keep being added. That's definitely a good thing, but I just can't be bothered with playing the game all the time, especially completing all the Nook Miles achievements. I don't care too much about it.

I just play ACNH from time to time now, and by that I mean like once a month LOL 😅 I already went through resetting hell trying to get an island with a blue airport, peaches, a river mouth to the east and the other river mouth to the south, Resident Services in just the right spot (because as we know you cannot relocate it) a peninsula to the west and a pier to the east. When I FINALLY got an island that met all these requirements you can bet I stuck with it. The starting villagers (jock and sisterly) didn't matter at all who they were because I was going to move them out regardless. However, one requirement I wanted I didn't get, which was the pier to the east. The pier is on the west just like the peninsula, but I managed to make it work. It's always one thing or another with RNG and island map spawns so you gotta take what you can get.

I wouldn't reset. I like my island. It's not designer level by any means, but im happy with all of my areas and I have all of my dreamies, some given to me by friends of mine, so I don't want to lose that. Plus, I'll never have the same enthusiasm for the game as I did when it first came out and all of it was new to me. I have a second island, so I can confirm this lack of enthusiasm. I have that island as a catalog/cycle island, so I don't care as much about setting it up, but even rushing through the intro stuff made me a little sad to not be excited to do it again.

I wish they had the option to keep the catalog like in new leaf. I wouldn’t mind not having the option to sell the island like how we could sell the town, but it’s so so hard to build up a catalog in new horizons with furniture clothing and especially the DIYs. If we could restart and keep the catalog I’d probably have restarted much more often than I have. But what am I saying lol I just restarted my island anyway like 3 weeks ago

If you were able to keep your catalogue and your DIYs?

If I could try and try again until I got an identical layout to my island, but with the fruit and airport, I would.
I would erase my stamps and start over

How about you?
Personally, I don’t think I could bring myself to do it even with my catalogue and DIYs. ;w;

The only thing I’ve been dying for is an orange airport (or at least yellow), but I’ve made too much progress to fully delete it. I’m hoping for an ability to customize airport colors in the future at least. :u

ACNH I think is the only town I wouldn't mind resetting because I don't have an attachment to it. It'd be fun to reset and try to earn my bells to have off my loan etc. normally instead of using turnips right away since that keeps the game more interesting for longer and is motivating.

I would not reset on my current island as I plan on keeping it, but if they did change it to make it so you can switch islands, but keep your inventory/catalogue/DIY's, it wouldn't be too bad if I wanted something new. It'd be like moving islands like the other villagers.

i wouldn’t. i love my island too much and have worked too hard on it, my nm achievements, etc to ever restart. my island isn’t the greatest by any means, especially since i haven’t spent much time on decorating it lol, but i’m happy with it. :)

Definitely thinking of resetting because of my crappy layout, but even if I go out and buy a second Switch two weeks after I bought my first just to keep the old data, the new island would still lack all the museum collections I've worked so hard to collect, so it just won't work for me. I'm not going to sacrifice all my hard work catching all those rare creatures, not to mention getting that Cast Master achievement! lol

Still, man, the layout looks like a haphazard mess. I only just found out from an island journal that you could put custom design tiles to mark the places you want to place your paths BEFORE you put down your buildings. Sheesh, if only I had known that day one. Couldn't they just include a tip like that as part of the tutorial or something? Sigh.

Anyway, guess I'll have to make do for now and hope I earn enough bells in time. Resetting and clearing out my museum data is a definite no-no. I'm not even sure if I'll do it once all my collections are gathered. IF my collections are gathered.

i re started my island TONS OF TIMES only 4 or 3 times but would i do it again yes just use some time traveling or just experience the game like you first bought it

being able to keep my catalogue and diys is tempting, but no I still would not restart. although I don’t have a 100% catalogue or diys, I do have a lot of hours put into the game and to start back from the beginning would feel like a complete waste.

My map is pretty much as good as it could get with what I had originally envisioned. So, no.

One thing I find great about this game is that I don't feel the need to reset my entire island if there is somethin I hate, unlike New Leaf where things weren't able to be changed as much, like the river, or cliffs. I really like that in NH, if you're unhappy with domethin like the river, cliffs, villager and shop placement, rock locations, weird pavement shapes, all of the annoying stuff from NL, you can destroy it all and change it.

Yes, it can be time consuming, but imo it's great that NH allows us to change all these annoying things hard-core theme-ist wanted to change for their towns, so much so that some would hack their consoles.

So, no, I wouldn't reset my entire island, even if I could keep my DIY/catalogue, cause I don't feel the need to. If I hate something I can pick it back up, flatten it out or destroy it and start from a blank slate again.
