Would your perspective on Trump change if he wasn't as loud?

Just to stay on topic, I have decided that I'm not going to defend everything Trump does or says, but I will defend some of the stuff he says or does. The same is true for the Republican Party.

All the stuff Trump said during the election that the media disapproved of, I find unacceptable. But I also think it's the media's fault for meddling with the election. They revealed 11-year old information in the last month to expose him, to get people to turn away from him. They weren't trying to make money or show how horrible of a man he is, they did this for the same reason they tried to bring up the DC Madam Escort scandal earlier. They were motivated by fear. That's the key word. Fear. They are afraid that Trump or Cruz would take office. They are afraid that Obamacare would get repealed. They are afraid that Roe v Wade is gonna get overturned. So they try to expose their scandalous secrets. And that's why I would defend Trump. But when Trump shared confidential information with Russia, that is a big no-no. Not only that is treason, but he's sharing it with the country we feared most back in the 1950's to 1980's. I'm not going to defend him for that.

In regards to the Republicans, one decision they made that I would defend them for is how they got Neil Gorsuch confirmed. I know it's a dumb move that would backfire, but we gotten to a point where we can't compromise anymore. Not to mention, but that was a conservative justice they're trying to replace. But one thing I could not defend the Republicans for is the government shutdown in 2013. That time, they have gone too far.

when trump was nothing more than a tv personality, i liked him and thought he was pretty funny. my parents and i would always watch his show together and i think i watched quite a few seasons of it lol. idc how loud people are bc it gives them personality. it's what they're being loud about that changes things.

i think trump was too loud about what he planned to do when he got into office. i mean it turned a lot of people to him but also tons of people away from him. the things he said turned me away from him even though i wasnt a massive fan of hillary. it all depends on perspective which everyone will disagree on but i couldn't back any of what came out of trump's mouth at all. what he said hurt a lot of innocent people who did nothing wrong. (mexicans, muslims, LGBT community, etc)

and trump is definitely not a politician at all. he doesn't know how to speak properly, and he speaks far too much. he literally ripped off a speech from legally blonde (lol). to me he's nothing more than a TV show host, i can't take him seriously.

This is a man who thinks planned parenthood is an "abortion factory", thinks Muslim Americans should be abolished until he can "figure things out", "can't decide", on transsexual rights, wants to surrogate individual states (which is what his stance on same-sex marriage will result in), fires members of the FBI if they go against him, is a complete pervert who calls women "big fat pigs", and has been accused of being a rapist multiple times, including by his very own ex-wife. Oh, and the KKK have claimed him to have "reunited [their] people".

Why don't you fact check before you post?? Being accused of something or hearing a rumor is not sufficient. This is just so far left.... To even say he's affiliated with the KKK and wants to abolish muslims is completely absurd. This is why people are scared, because people like you spew rumors and information that isn't factual. This is what will get our country no where. I like Trump but I don't like everything he's ever done. I think it's ridiculous to make these claims about our president especially when people really need to feel reassured. All I'm saying is, it doesn't help to continue to instill fear in our people with rumors and things that are unconfirmed.

though even if there was anything, I don't think that excuses his frequently disgusting attitude and actions. him being loud has nothing to do with him being absolutely vile on about every level. though I doubt we'd be dealing with this garbage right now if he wasn't loud, because the types of disgusting people he emboldens only seem to know how to listen to people when they're being loud and obnoxious

He's actually doing everything he said he was going to and accomplished more in his first 100 days than any other president. Given I will reiterate the fact that I'm not a die hard Trump supporter. Nevertheless, I appreciate how active he's been in office. All-in-all he's making the government have less control over us, which I like. He also decreased the unemployment rate by a huge amount which is shocking for how long he's been in office. He's making it so we pay less taxes and American businesses actually pay less taxes which is amazing since our businesses are what runs our country. He upped the taxes for businesses who employ those that are overseas (which will make more people want to employ Americans since it won't be cheaper to have a child make our clothes in China) He also helped the people of Syria after they released chemical bombs on innocent people and children by bombing the airbase that contained the chemical weapons. Many people claim to dislike him due to the fact that they think he wants to cut gov funding to planned parenthood. These people don't realize that by making it so planned parenthood can be run independently, we are giving the power back to women! People are always saying, "I don't want a man to decide what I can do with my body", and I agree! So the less the government controls us, the more power we have! Which is exactly what he's doing. I can keep going.....

You know, I don't see how he supports LGBT. People may claim he does, but the fact that he replaced Scalia with Gorsuch, picked Betsy DeVos and Jeff Sessions as his education secretary and attorney general (respectively), and ran with Mike Pence in the election all prove otherwise. He may believe that transgender people should be allowed to use bathrooms of their gender identity, but the fact he reversed Obama's executive order that federally allows that proves otherwise. I don't think he's LGBT friendly, but at least he's not as bad as Ted Cruz or Ronald Reagan on these issues (I don't even know how Reagan is on LGBT).

Do you have evidence to support your claims? I haven't researched much tbh. Just that if he lowered taxes for businesses how would he ensure that they use the extra funds to help their business instead of pocketing it? Not only that but how do you feel about his appointment of Betsy DeVos?


I'm an American citizen, born and raised in the U.S. I support Trump because he is the President of the United State, and I live here. So I support my leader because I do want this country to prosper. I don't like the remarks he makes in his speeches and derogatory terms he uses.

I am gonna get a lot of backlash for saying this, but ACA didn't work for everyone. It seemed to only helped those who couldn't afford healthcare and those who were unable to get it because of illnesses that they have been diagnosed with. For those who already had healthcare, I saw a surge in premiums and less coverage. I say this because after the act passed my company went with another insurance agency that was cheaper for them but didn't cover as much for the employees.

In the end, I do support Trump because he is the President of the United States. I want to live in a country that is prosperous and doing right for its citizens, i'm not sure what can be done to change who the leader is, but if he continues to be the leader- then I will support him.

As a free-thinker, you should always question things and question the things your leader does. I know it's a whole different thing, but imagine if it was Hitler. I supported the man back when he was with the Twin Towers Organization with trying to get them rebuilt after 9/11 and I support him in his role of President of United States. The opposition shown towards our current POTUS is the highest it has ever been in the the history of the United States and I do not feel it is very well justified with the stances some anti-Trump groups have shown.

Some of the comments left by the user's above are absolutely unjustified and really do not show great character for what Bell Tree is known for on other sections of the forum and the fact you could treat others like that only because they have differing opinions from you is just wrong.

I honestly believe Obama done worse than what we feared about Donald Trump. He screwed up healthcare by making Obamacare (which is a burden over doctors), he really screwed up our relations with Israel, he released five people linked to 9/11 to free a traitor detained overseas, he allowed the government to overstep their bounds (like the TSA's groping of random passengers or Michelle Obama school lunches), and caused our nation to divide even further. But I don't hate him anymore than the Trump haters hate Trump. I hoped that nothing horrible happened to Obama or his family when he was office, I don't care if you think Obama is the best president or one of the best, and I thought there are lot worse people in our nation than Obama, including hate-filled trolls and argument-ensuing trolls on the internet that waste their lives trolling other people. A handful of Trump haters in America are not like me. They want Trump and Pence dead, they violently assaulted people that have conservative opinions while wishing them dead, and they hate Trump over everyone when there are worse people than him. And Trump was only evil because of the mean things he said. That's how much the Trump protesters hated Trump.

Also, when Obama won the elections in 2008 and 2012, I did not get upset at all. The conservatives that got upset only protested in a civil manner. But the Trump protesters protested in a highly barbaric manner when Trump won. I'm glad that not all liberals or Trump haters are like that. But a couple of them are like that. And look at all the damage they did! Not only it was costly, but done in the sake of the election.
