I always forget we have a art channel here. I really like your drawings. I don't know if it's the texture or the colors, but they have a soft and pastel-like feel to them (and it looks really good!) If you zoomed in on Celeste and cut her out, she would make a really great pin/magnet. I see people do that all the time with their works. Not saying the others wouldn't as they'd all be neat as cutouts.

thank you so very much!! i’ve never thought about making cutouts of my art before, but i’d honestly love to have a magnet of my celeste drawing, as well as a few others. i’ll have to look into how to do that. thank you for the idea and for your kind words!
@xara I've seen magnet material (like the flexible rubber sheets) at craft stores. It might not be how the professionals do it, but you could pick one of those up, print your design out on nice cardstock/durable paper, and then cut the magnet piece to size/glue it.
And np! You have talent! I scrolled through your section a bit more and I like Kapp'n sitting against the tree to. Reminds me of the old Pokemon ending where Meowth sings underneath a tree.

my celebrating diversity 2022: villager design event entry, tempest the cranky deer!
name: tempest (meaning: stormy, turbulent) species: deer personality: cranky catchphrase: “oh, word?” home request: a homely sanctuary filled with lights, plushies and patchwork items skill: making people laugh goal: author favourite song: k.k. birthday picture quote: “your feelings are valid.”
how this villager represents me: like me, tempest is a hard soul to describe. she has all the characteristics of your typical deer (or anxious human); timid, modest, and quick to run away the moment she senses danger might be near, but she also has a temperament akin to her parents’. she has walked on eggshells all her life, and as a result, people now have to walk on eggshells around her; she’s standoffish, pessimistic, and quick to pick a fight when she’s feeling overwhelmed or insecure. she uses colourful aesthetics, personas, and a green funny-smelling plant to make her seem happier and better than she actually is — and also because she genuinely likes them lol. her zipper mouth represents how i keep my thoughts and feelings to myself in order to avoid conflict, embarrassment, and to make other people happier and their lives easier. i also have a slight speech impediment and anxiety/social anxiety, and all that encourages me to keep my mouth shut as well.
but good and bad can exist simultaneously, and for every bad trait, there’s also plenty of good — she’s open-minded, supportive, funny, interesting and so much more. she’ll be the first to tell you that your feelings are valid even though she doesn’t feel the same about her own, and she cherishes making people laugh. her ailments and flaws have helped shape her into who she is, but they don’t define her - and neither do mine.

call me a defibrillator because i am reviving this thread!! i have been slowly working on reorganizing and revamping this thread for the past few months, and i was hoping to be 100% done with that before posting in here again, but i am very impatient and would like to share my art! i’m gonna be honest that the likelihood of me letting this thread die again is very high lol, but there are some future pieces that i’m hoping to be able to share, such as some art for my friends and a banner/logo for the main page of this thread! i just have to actually draw them first LOL, but hopefully i’ll have those to share before halloween
this post is pretty much just going to be a space camp art dump since i honestly haven’t created art for much else since my last post in here haha. i’m also not going to be sharing all of the space art that i created— just the stuff that i’m not entirely ashamed of :’) space camp was the most inspired and motivated i’ve been to create art in eons, and i am so grateful for that. my creations are of course not anything spectacular, but i had fun drawing them, and that’s what matters the most!
this is something that i‘m exceptionally anxious to talk about, but it’s been weighing on my mind for eons now, and i feel like i need to for my own peace of mind if anything, especially if i ever want to feel truly comfortable sharing my art on the forums.
i want to pre-face this by saying that absolutely nobody has said anything to me or caused me to feel like i have to say this— it’s likely that this may just be an irrational thought, but i’d like to clear the air regardless. i feel like there may be some people who think that my art is traced, or that at least some of it is. again, absolutely nobody has caused me to feel this way, but it’s a sort of gnawing feeling i’ve had ever since i started creating and sharing my art outside of tbt events, and it’s made sharing my art feel not so fun, and also kind of embarrassing. i want to clear the air, especially when some of my art (specifically my villager art) looks so identical to the source material.
some of my villager art looks like i may have traced the villager’s render, and if anyone has ever thought that, that’d be fair. before some of the art that i shared below, i‘ve never shared any of my sketches or art process on here, and i’m worried that + some of my art looking the way it does may look suspicious. to be honest, i do not have sketches saved of any of the art that i’ve shared in here or anywhere else aside from the last 2 drawings below. i don’t even have the finished product for most of them saved in the program that i use. not saving the sketches/outlines at least was a dumb mistake on my part, and i’m sorry that i can’t prove the authenticity of so many of my creations.
the reason that some of my art looks so close to its reference is because i have no idea how to find and adapt to a consistent art style of my own. it’s a dumb reason, and probably not a good one, but despite trying to improve at art for the past couple of years, i wouldn’t even consider myself a beginner artist. art and all of its elements is so overwhelming to me, and attempting to learn about colours and shading and outlining and poses and lighting and designing and literally everything has been insane, and i have only recently felt confident enough to even try to find an art style of my own, and that is questionable some days, and overwhelming every day. so when creating art, especially animal crossing art, i am influenced by the reference rather than my own style or touches, because i know i‘m less likely to screw up if i stick with what i already know. it’s stupid and probably makes no sense, but it’s the truth.
i’ve also been reluctant to share sketches here or anywhere, because i feel like the way i go about it is abnormal. i know art is subjective and not at all linear, but i feel like everything i ever do is wrong compared to how everyone else does things. my lines are not consistent and messy and all over the place, and i am embarrassed by it. i am no artist compared to anyone, and i know that i always tell people to be proud of their work regardless of the level that it’s done at, but i apparently believe that for everyone but myself :’) but i want to get into the habit of sharing my sketches— not just for exposure therapy, but also so that i maybe stop feeling like someone thinks i’m a fraud every time that i share my art. my art isn’t good or clean or complex, but it is mine.
i‘m so scared of hitting post on this, but thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this.
my celebrating diversity entry for this year!! this is the first piece of art that i created this year (which is sad, considering this was made in june ), but for being my first creation in several months, i am still very proud of how it turned out!! if i had more time or skill, i would have loved to diversify this even more and add more detail, but i think it’s pretty good as is. one of the most consistent things about me is my adoration for anything colourful, and i love how vibrant this turned out! truly one of my brightest pieces, and i love it! i’ll also include the explanation i wrote for it in my entry post back in june below it
from left to right:
the character on the far left is my island rep, and the colours she’s wearing + the flag next to her represents my place in the lgbtq+ community. for last year’s celebrating diversity contest, the villager persona i created represented questioning, because while i was 100% sure i was somewhere in the community, i didn’t know where exactly. this year, i’m still figuring things out, but i think i‘m finally starting to get a grasp on who i am. the colours of my island rep’s sweater represents the pansexuality flag; pansexual is the sexuality that has always felt the most like me, but i’ve been hesitant to openly identify as it because while gender doesn’t play a part in who i am romantically attracted to, i am more-so drawn to people who aren’t cis males. the “oh, so you’re attracted to pans?” comments are also annoying lol. i’m ready to change this, though, because it would be a disservice to myself to hide who i am just to avoid comments from others. me being prominently romantically attracted to some gender identities over others doesn’t make me any less valid, because at the end of the day i love who i love for the way they make me feel and who they are as a person, not what they identity as.
i have also recently come to the conclusion that i am demisexual. i have been identifying as full-on asexual for the past few years, but it never really felt like me. i’m still figuring this part of myself out, but demisexuality feels much more like me. :’)
wardell my beloved is most definitely an ally, and he does not mind who you are, where you come from, or what you identify as as long as you’re kind. the trevor project released a line of custom clothing designs to raise awareness about lgbtq+ youth suicide, and i drew wardell adorning the beanie that they created. to me, pride month is equally about celebrating and embracing who you are as it is about uplifting those in the community and raising awareness for/acknowledging the horrors of the past and future, and that includes the lgbtq+ youth suicide rates. the statistics will vary depending on where you get your research from, but the consensus is the same - those in the community are at a higher risk. not because of what they identify as, but because of how society and those around them treat them because of it. this is something that is extremely important to me personally, and so i wanted to include it in my entry in some way.
my girl whitney represents bisexuality. i don’t usually headcanon sexualities for villagers since it kind of makes me feel weird, but i have a headcanon for my island that whitney and sprinkle are friends who are constantly balancing on the line between being besties and girlfriends. i also keep the lore from the animal crossing movie in mind that whitney and apollo used to date, and so… bisexual queen
lastly, the girly on the far right represents homosexuality, as well as disability (can you tell it’s my first time drawing a wheelchair LOL). the majority of lgbtq+ representations i’ve seen (not just on her) show people and characters in the community who are able-bodied, and that isn’t always the case. sometimes you gotta be who you are in a wheelchair, or while sporting a walking cane, or a prosthetic etc, and that’s okay.
my entry is a simplified version of what i would love to do. i would love to include representations of all sexualities and identities, and all ethnicities, and all walks of life in general, but art skill and time restraints say no lol. i think it would also be impossible to include everyone, since the beauty of diversity is that even if we’re a part of the same community, we are still all different from one another, and that’s wonderful. even if your representation isn’t here, who you are is so important and valid no matter what; don’t doubt that.
the avatar that i drew for myself for my space camp aesthetic!! i mentioned that i would be adding more to it during the duration of camp, but i unfortunately never got around to it, and still haven’t it’s definitely on my to-do list, but for now i’ll share it as is! i’ve attempted to draw avatars for myself a few times in the past, and this is only one of two that i actually liked! i honestly love and am so proud of how this turned out!
my ”pencil passports” entry, which is one of my creations overall that i am the most proud of! it’s also the one that i’ve spent the most time on so far, with it taking me 10+ hours to complete. most of those hours were foolishly spent in one sitting, which didn’t help my chronic art burnout at all LOL, but it’s worth it for how proud i am of it! i do still think i went overboard with the top half, and i would most likely include less if i were to do it over, but i still am so happy with it it took me forever to get started on it since there was so much that i wanted to include and i had no idea where to start, but man once i got started… this passport revived my love for creating art fr, it’d been so long since i’d had so much fun doing it!
the blue circle sticker on the top left represents 2021 camp bell tree, and the cabin i was a part of— the poliwags!! i know kapp’n was our guide during the first camp, but he told me that his daughter leila has never met a poliwag before, so of course i had to help her out this is code for i just didn’t want to draw kapp’n LOL
the droplet sticker represents new leaf! deers are my favourite animal, and i was so so excited when deer villagers were introduced in new leaf! beau quickly became my #1 favourite (deer and villager in general), but i made it a goal to try and have every deer live in my town at least once. i can’t remember if i actually ever met that goal or not, but bruce was the first deer that moved into my first new leaf town (thank you campsite!), and beau is my bestest boy, so i drew headshots of them both i also included my character and town names— harmony from cloudluv, and emily from clarity! i actually had three copies of new leaf, but my third copy was a cycling town that i kept resetting, so i just left her out lol
etoilé’s cloud sticker represents the 2020 tbt fair! i remember how dreamy and whimsical fair that year felt, and i wanted to incorporate that vibe into my sticker for it the best i could.
the crab sticker represents new horizons! i drew a headshot of shino (i mostly did headshots because i was too lazy for full-body hehe) since she became my #1 favourite villager in new horizons, and i chose a crab shape for the sticker because crabs = tropical? i also have my character and island name there!
the crown sticker represents the bell tree manor, and i included jack since he’s the animal crossing king of halloween!
the canadian flag sticker represents the fact that i live in canada. if you squint, you’ll see tutu in the middle of it! i was initially planning on drawing erik since moose = canada, but i changed my mind last minute and went for best girl tutu instead
the flower-shaped sticker represents the 2022 tbt fair!
the bunny-shaped sticker represents this year’s camp, and of course i had to go with a bunny shape to pay tribute to my crew! again, if you squint, you’ll see gulliver being beamed up by a ufo
the bottom cloud sticker represents the ghostly glade! the shape itself is kind of just something i wanted to do lol (but we can reach and say it’s fog or something hehe), but who better to represent the ghostly glade than wisp! he’s definitely wishing i chose someone else rn, but oh well
and finally, the apple sticker represents wild world!! tangy was the very first villager i met in my very first wild world town, so it wouldn’t feel right to not include her! she’s also the only villager i did a sticker full-body drawing of— that’s how special she is i didn’t include any town or character names in this sticker since i reset my town a lot, and i honestly don’t really remember any of the names i came up with lol. they were all pretty dumb though, considering i was a kid i also chose an apple shape for the sticker since something something orange you glad i didn’t say apple
i typically don’t create extra art for events aside from occasional avatars/signatures that i make for myself since all of my creative energy and energy in general goes towards my entries, but with my newfound motivation to draw, i was inspired by @/Antonio and @/FrostyAlmonds to do some space doodles! i mainly did moon bunny doodles to cheer on my fellow moon bunnies, but i also did a space whale doodle for @/Zerous‘s space whale art thread! i would have loved to do more, but i was honestly burnt out again after a week they’re nothing spectacular, but i had fun drawing them nevertheless!
the last space camp piece that i have to share is my moon bunnies flag design! i honestly only did this for the participation tokens LOL, but i’m still quite pleased with how it turned out!!
a rock boy that i drew for my dear friend @xSuperMario64x! he has always been beyond supportive and kind to not just me, but to everyone, and he honestly deserves the world. i was initially planning on drawing an og rock boy with the grey colour palette and all that, but when i sat down to draw i was like hm… how can i spice this up in a way that doesn’t cause me to lose my mind!! and low and behold, transmasc flag rock boy was born he is still very grumpy looking, but he loves and accepts bug for who he is, just like i and the rest of his friends do i hope you like it bug, and that i didn’t butcher him too badly and ruin rock boy for you
last but not least, mr. thwomp and playing mario party superstars inspired me to draw my boy monty mole!! i haven’t drawn him since tbtwc, which is honestly criminal. i will be forever mad that i can’t play as him in mps, but at least i get to see him in his minigame sometimes
hello i’ve come to offer you all a shorter art dump after my doozy of a last post!!
i’ve spent the majority of my creative time since my last post coming up with ideas for future artworks that i’d like to attempt eventually, but i’ve also done a few doodles for some of my homies!! i honestly have so many friends and people that i want to create art for (much to my energy’s dismay and probably my friends’ dismays as well LOL), but this is a start! i also may or may not be using my friends as guinea pigs so that i can practice
my first doodle is of miss @S.J. and agnes!! i’ve drawn agnes before in the typical animal crossing style, but this is my first attempt at drawing her in… whatever style this is LOL, as well as my first attempt at drawing s.j.’s lovely rep! i’m not sure how i feel about how this turned out, but the more i stare at it, the less i hate it haha. s.j.’s eyes do be looking kinda wonky since i was trying to experiment with a new style, but they look better if you squint!!

my next doodle is for my dearest friend @Roxxy of her adorable brandy!! i know i promised you birthday art like two years ago and never got around to it, but please accept this consolation doodle as an apology and an ily :’) if i learn how to draw anything well, i really want it to be cats— i want to be able to draw bonk (who was ironically laying with me as i drew this hehe) and all of my departed babies

my last doodle for now is for @-Mars-! it isn’t much, but i wanted to do something for you to say thanks for the lovely drawing of my island rep you did for me i was initially planning on drawing drift for you since i know how much you love him, but then i did a little searching to see if you had posted any rep/oc references anywhere and found munchie, and i needed to draw him immediately he’s so cute!! i drew him in the animal crossing style since i don’t think i’ve drawn an alligator before in any style and didn’t want to ruin him ;u;, but i hope you like it!
… okay i lied, i actually did the drift doodle as well hehe. it’s the doodle i’m least proud of (probably because it’s the one i experimented the most with ), but please enjoy this bonus doodle of a very wonky drift chilling on a froggy chair, thinking about the popsicle he wants to be snacking on! this is my second time attempting to draw a frog villager in this style. i simplified his design a little bit and his arms look more like pizza slices than arms LOL, but i’ve definitely drawn worse

xjjdncjfj i’ve come to dump some more art that i’ve made for friends on you all again, as well as a couple drawings that i did just for funsies! after finishing my last doodles, i wasn’t planning on creating any more art for at least a few days with how tired i felt creatively, but there i was not even 6 hours later, doing Things LOL
september - november are rough months for me, and the past week especially has not been super slay. nothing specifically has really happened, my vibes have just been kinda off, and my lingering ear/throat infection symptoms are driving me crazy
but drawing has honestly been a huge coping mechanism/distraction for me this month; it’s nice to be creating so much after going through most of the year without even so much as opening my art program haha
onto the art!!
this doodle is for my dear friend @King koopa of one of his ocs, amethyst!! i was honestly so happy when i saw that you made a toyhou.se, because i’ve been wanting to make you some art for a while, but you have so many ocs that i didn’t know which one to draw!! i decided to go with the only oc that you’ve added to your toyhou.se thus far— amethyst the lovely gold fox! i did take a bit of creative liberty with his eyes and ears since i was in the mood to draw chibi eyes hehe, and i wanted to practice drawing a “traditional” fox with pointy ears, but i hope you like it!! thank you for always being so lovely
this is for the super sweet @Mr_Keroppi!! i‘ve been wanting to make you some art for a while as well, and i’ve been in a sanrio mood after seeing so much adorable sanrio stuff at hot topic the other day, so this felt like the perfect time to whip something up for you! i of course had to doodle your favourite froggy— i was tempted to draw him in the same style that i did for drift and ribbot, but i couldn’t resist his usual style keroppi is staring happily at an A+ he got on a school assignment, since you are always killing it academically!! you are so, so smart, and such a kind person— thank you for always doing your best to spread happiness around the forums i hope you like your art!
this is one of those doodles where colouring it in really makes a difference LOL
i probably won’t be picking a copy of princess peach: showtime! up (despite how cute it looks), but i was still inspired to attempt to draw patisserie peach after watching thursday’s nintendo direct! all of peach’s different costumes and roles that were shown were so cute—she’s in her barbie era and i’m here for it!! i went with a combination of lineless + line art for this piece. peach’s hairstyle was a pain to try and get right, and i was nervous about her dress since gingnam patterns have never been my strong suit, but overall i’m kinda happy with how this turned out!
and finally, a little sketch that i did last night while watching barbie for the 100th time. i did colour it in, but i actually think i prefer the sketch/outline version more, even though the coloured in version is a little neater
i don’t add my watermark until after the drawing is finished, and i usually don’t do it in my sketch layer, hence why the coloured in version has my watermark and the sketch doesn’t lol
The eyes are actually my favourite part! It makes them look so adorable!

i didn’t mean to abandon this thread lol, but i don’t create much art nowadays. i’ve kinda lost my passion for it, plus i just haven’t had the time, energy or motivation. i have created a few pieces for tbt events these past several months, so i wanted to finally post them here. <3 
i made this to be my avatar as well during the holiday season, but i didn’t keep it up for long, either, since i wasn’t vibing with my aesthetic haha. i like it by itself, though! 
i also included my character and town names— harmony from cloudluv, and emily from clarity! i actually had three copies of new leaf, but my third copy was a cycling town that i kept resetting, so i just left her out lol
