Your opinions about Raymond

He’s adorable

He’s a tiny office cat with fangs and lil eye glasses, he reminds me of all my favorite aloof anime characters. I love his home, inside and out, and if I found him I’d take him. That said, I’m not dying for him either. And any problems I do have with Raymond have far more to do with the players than Raymond himself. I’ve got an even bigger problem with players who write passionate posts about how he’s garbage and whatnot though.

I think he's nice, especially his eyes. There's other cats I like better though, so I probably won't ever have him on an island. Never understood those who like/hate him just because he's popular. Like whoever you want instead of shunning any villager not considered "valuable" by the community, or the equally strange mindset of being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.

Raymond is the only smug I like. I like his color scheme, his tiny fangs, his house.... but most of all he is basically animal crossing version of the kind of guys I have a weakness for. Hard working office guys with glasses. I tried to now like him because he was so popular, but I read the fan comics and I just fell for him.. my friend found him while Island hopping so I have him now and I gave him some dumb clothes and he looks so cute. ♡ I don't care if he is overrated or expensive. It doesn't change how I feel about him and his little toe beans ..

I actually really like him and the consistency of his aesthetic, but he’d be completely out of step with my other islanders so won’t ever find a home on Stinktown.

Raymond is really cute, His design is not very daring but I tend to love all the cat villagers (except only a few) and Raymond is no exception. Do I think he is overrated? Yes, but that doesn’t stop me from liking this business cat (British shorthair with heterochromia?)

That said I won’t be actively searching for him as his house is a bit too modern/city looking than my preferred house aesthetics. However, if I happen to see him on islands hopping or campsite, I most likely will take him in as I’d like to have him live on my island for a bit if given the opportunity.

I don’t understand what all the fuss is about really. I get not liking villagers, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a negative reaction to anyone else like this. I don’t think marshal was that bad, but maybe I just don’t remember

New Leaf didn't have as much hype as New Horizons, so Marshal didn't break the internet as badly. Plus, once the Amiibo update was added, people could just buy Marshall's card if they were still serious about getting him.

The reason Raymond gets hate is because of the negative effect he had on the community. People selling him for hundreds of dollars on eBay, people selling him for thousands of NMT, etc. Also some people over reacted in their quests to obtain him as if he was the fountain of youth or something.

Raymond is No. 1 for who I am wanting to get.

I have personally been unavailable to play “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” in a way in which I can interact with people. And I have not had much time to play the game in a way in which I can really progress for switching in and out particular casts of islanders. (I have two islands.)

Eventually, I want to get Raymond—and I intend to step up.

I wonder if amiibo cards will get manufactured for the eight new “New Horizons” islanders: Cranky elephant Cyd; Snooty bear cub Judy; Lazy goat Sherb; Normal bear Megan; Jock sheep Dom; Peppy wolf Audie; Smug cat Raymond; and Uchi [Sisterly] horse Reneigh. (As of 11.30.2020, I have Cyd, Dom, and Audie.)

Honestly I could have cared less about Raymond until I found him on a mystery island. I took him early in the game when resources were scarce and I had few NMTs because I thought I could flip him and sell him for a lot on Nookazon. I'll be honest, I would have left him behind if he wasn't worth what he was a few months back. So half jokingly, I invited him to my island, not sure what I wanted to do with him but I was sick of searching that day and he was better than a rando!

Once he got to my island I took a shine to him, as the weeks passed I began to feel like I'd miss his savage comments if I let him go. I then thought I'd give him away for free, maybe to someone who really liked him. But when he asked to leave, I found myself saying no. After a certain point, my island wouldn't have felt right without him there.

I just really hope they release amiibos for all the new characters eventually, it would stop the ridiculous sales. Buying villagers with real money just is not for me. I certainly wouldn't sell Raymond for real cash either. Thats so ridiculous! I honestly hope the Raymond hype dies down, he's just as good/bad as any villager!

Don’t really have an opinion on him! I can see both sides of the Raymond dilemma though, it’s only natural to want something that’s new (this happened with Marshal in NL too), and I can see how people see him as overrated (I guess he kind of.. is? His personality type doesn’t differ from the other Smug types and I don’t think there’s necessarily anything out there about his design). Like JKDOS said, the situation with the scalpers probably didn’t paint him in a good light either. Poor little guy, he’s just a bunch of pixels trying to live his best life 😢

personally I’m not too fussed about having him on my island but if I came across him while island hopping then I’d be tempted to take him home!

I found Raymond on an island and I enjoy him, but he's by no means my favorite villager of all time. What I do like about him are his eyes and glasses, his little fangs, and the fact that he's a smug so he's always ego tripping. I like this part because it makes the hype about him hilarious. It's like he knows people are losing their minds over him.

I don't really like his office decor that much. It's kind of depressing and reminds me of my own job, which has a bland, generic office look to it. (At least it did before I started working from home due to the virus.) I gave him a plant and I was amazed at how much it made a difference in warming his space up. But still, it will always have a corporate environment so I don't particularly enjoy it.

I have thought about letting him move out so I could invite other villagers to live on my island, but I have to admit I don't want to let him go because he's a new one and I don't know if I will ever find him again if I change my mind. That's a problem for me now that I have four new villagers (Audie, Reneigh, Sherb, and Raymond.) Maybe in time I'll let him go, but I'm not ready yet.

Raymond's cool. I don't hate him, but I don't love him. I'm glad they included a character that helps people relate w/ two different colored eyes.

I think that is terrible sell items, villagers or DIYs with money, because it is ridiculous
This is just a game to enjoy and relax, then we have people who is trying to get money with the game, i hate this so much.

I took me literal months of doing the campsite trick and having only 1 smug in my Island to improve the chances for the trick to work in order to actually get Raymond to finally visit, but I was so happy when it happened. It's been about a month in of having him on my island and I still love the character and his unique design. He's overrated, that I won't deny, but that's definitely not the reason I wanted him. I'm just glad I didn't give up and fork over 500+ NMT to get him.

He's fine, nothing special really? I wouldn't take him if I saw him on an island hop as he doesn't stand out to me as a fave.

As a HUGE sucker for cat villagers I wanted to see what this cat looked like that everyone was talking about and I LAUGHED when I looked at him, I think I'd prefer ANY other cat apart from Katt over him. His bang is so ugly and he just looks like a weird wall street intern guy who fetches coffee

I agree. I actually saw one gamer who was charging people real money to give them design advice and to design their island for them. A lot of money. To me this is really strange, but also the real money part makes it seem not right.

I still like him a lot, he's been on my island for quite some time and I see no end to his stay ❤
