i write lol, lmao, haha and use laughing emojis a lot. most of the time it's to indicate "this isn't totally serious" rather than "i am actually laughing out loud in real life" or "this is funny". i would say my most genuine one would be "hahahaha" or something along those lines, i tend to not overuse "hahahaha" (i do, however, overuse "haha"), or even better a keysmash like asjfsddg. it really does depend on who i am talking to, though. a keysmash doesn't have to mean that i'm laughing either, it's more "i'm dead" for any reason. so uh. basically. idk. i'm a fake binch i guess
i mix it up a bit and it depends who i'm talking to but generally:
- HAHAHA if it's truly funny and i'm genuinely laughing. i think i do this more often when i'm talking to close friends
- LMAO if i let out a giggle or chuckle
- lol if it's not funny
If something is actually funny, I'll write "hahaha omg" or something xD. If something didn't actually make me laugh but it's supposed to be mildly amusing, I go for "lol". I don't really use the cry laughing emoji much but sometimes it's appropriate.
I actually type out "hahaha". This thread was kind of educational for me because I always imagined "lol" was used sarcastically or negatively these days!
I usually say lmao/lmfao/lmaooooo, lol, or use an emoji. I usually try to mix them up if I notice I'm using one of them too much. I also try to avoid saying "hahaha" because I feel like it makes me sound nervous or sarcastic.
