I am kind of curious as to why there isn't one implemented! The rep system have always been a nice little feature of forums as a way for members to say thanks. I think it would be nice, but I am also taking into account that the people running this place have other ideas/plans, but just a curious thought.

So, how would it work? Would it be a form of liking or disliking posts, and that would determine overall reputation?

We've talked about this before, a long time ago. There are a few reasons why I, personally, think they wouldn't be a good idea. The first being that if someone doesn't like you, they can just do their best to lower your reputation points. It also can reflect the person and if that shows that they're not well-liked because of a few persons' efforts, then that person is kind of stuck with that. Also, they really don't add anything to the whole experience.

Basically! I used to be a mod of a forum for another game, and the rep bar goes under the info to the left, and there is a thumbs up/down button with it and it ties to the post you rep (which ever post you clicked on to rep the user). Clicking the rep bar gives you a summary of any short comments the repper wrote.

Edit: Yeah I guess it makes sense; but there are limitations to harassements. Again, just a thought incase it hasn't come up.

Well, I mean, to counter your point, Bacon, as Beanie just posted, there would be a summary of comments the repper wrote, and I assume just a history of all reputation they've received would be displayed. This would then show if someone is the victim of a false reputation attack by someone who doesn't like them.

I dunno if I'd want it or not. I'm neutral.

I guess that's one of the things I like about this forum, it's not really about popularity its about having fun playing animal crossing with others. I don't know if a rep point system would suit this forum

Haha I guess the point is misunderstood. I brought up the rep system as a way to give thanks to members who have helped me. I didn't actually see it as a fame thing until it has been pointed out.

Is there a way to implement some sort of reputation/karma system that only allows positive feedback?

Eh, I don't think this forum needs a rep system. It would just lead to rep whor-*ehem* I mean hunters.

Not only that, but we're getting threads about those to "watch out for", and some of the time they're accidental things.
So when it comes to an extreme, we'll all be notified anyway.
