Its confirmed to have fixed the duplication glitch, but please be aware that physical copies of ACNH can still abuse this glitch as they can delete update data and revert to Ver. 1.0.0.

Would their save data even work on an outdated version of the game??
It's a shame it didn't add anything back in to the game to make long time players want to purchase it.

Also possibly penalty for time traveling:

Wasn't everybody already aware of this though? I think it's been known that you can't time travel to experience events before others for a while now. They're all locked behind content updates, which imo is a good thing.

it's implying that even after you download the update you still can't TT to the event because the game can check what the actual date is

I'm glad they've fixed it, I've been starting to do trades with people and I really don't want to receive non-legit items.
You cannot go online with an outdated version of the game, so I don't see why this matters. Attempts to abuse this will result in termination of your account as the new code includes checksum verification of the running code in memory.
Trading duplicated items would now require you to have two Switches, one running the newer version of the game, and one running the old. Too much hassle for most people I would assume given how much screaming has been happening over the One Island Per Switch restrictions.
