I was just wondering what seat people prefer sitting in when on public transport or just vehicles in general (bus, train, taxi, car). Which do you prefer and why?

I prefer the aisle seat because it's way easier to get out of. Middle in a car is a definite no for me because I'm too tall for the driver to be able to see past my head when I sit there, and my knees are always quite sore after being in that seat. Window is okay, but definitely not my first choice because I have to clamber over people if I'm leaving/getting off before them.

I prefer the aisle, if I’m being honest. You don’t have to ask anyone to get up if you need to use the restroom. It’s also easier to get off afterwards when you’re not waiting for everyone else to grab their bags.

I will grab the window seat on the train or bus considering they do stop every few hours. Everyone usually gets off for those stops anyway, so you can just use the restroom then. On the train, I’m usually seated by myself anyway.

I personally don't mind. I guess during my first few flights I liked the window seat just to see outside with the clouds/land below, but I don't mind so much if I have the window, middle, or aisle. Aisle is nice if you do need to get up to use the restroom or whatever.

I had a flight from hell coming back from the Caribbeans last year. I was stuck on that plane for like 14 hours or something. I forget, but it was way too long because a series of unfortunate events kept delaying us from being let off. So I was so happy to have the aisle seat to just be able to get up, use the restroom, and stretch a bit. That was awful. I also happened to get covid since I was trapped in that plane with a bunch of sick people. A man next to me kept sneezing in his hands and then wiping it on his seat. It almost makes me not want to fly again.

It depends for me. For airplanes I prefer the aisle seat because it's easy to get to the restroom and back, there's literally no one in your way, and you can still see out the window without necessarily being next to it. I also just have a fear of taking off and turbulence in airplanes, and being in the seat closest to the middle of the plane makes me feel more safe.

If it's anything else like a bus, train, etc. I don't really care, but would take the window seat so I can admire the view outside. Especially in a train, I've had dreams of taking a nice train somewhere and viewing lush valleys outside, lmao.

I always opt for a window seat when I'm able, no matter the mode of transportation! I love looking out the window and watching the world pass by; it's one of my favourite parts about travelling via vehicle, and it brings me comfort. I also feel more secure in the window seat when on a bus since I won't feel like I'm gonna fall into the aisle whenever the bus turns or comes to a stop.

An aisle seat is my second preference. I never feel secure in aisle seats, especially on busses, but I like being able to get up without having to wait for anyone sitting next to me to get up or move.

I avoid sitting in middle seats if I can help it. I don't like being sandwiched between people, especially on public transit when I might be sitting next to people I don't know.

School bus = front. I was riding with students I didn't know due to my peculiar school situation. The front was quiet and I wasn't comfortable sitting anywhere else.

Public transport is going to be wherever I can get a seat. I don't mind standing either.

I like the window seat on a plane

When it comes to planes, thus far, I've always tended to opt for window seats. I have only flown a few times and the flights weren't all that long, usually like an hour and a half or two hours or so at a time. As such, I've not had the need for the aisle seat's benefit of easy access to the bathroom and whatnot. If I fly somewhere in the future where I have to endure a longer flight duration, and/or have a short layover where I need to prioritize getting off the plane and getting to the next one as quick as possible, I might consider an aisle seat. Otherwise, I like being able to control the window and enjoy looking out at the scenery.

Wouldn't ever opt for the middle seat, seems like the worst option. It's something you only go for if it's the only option available.

I'd say my preference for window seating extends to the other modes of transport as well.

i've always been a window girly but recently i got assigned a random seat on an airplane for an aisle seat and u know what, i can see the appeal lol. anything but middle seat really haha.

When on a flight, it depends on the situation. I generally don't care where I sit. But if it's an early morning flight, and it's going to be a while, I prefer the window so I can stuff a hoodie or jacket against the side as a pillow and snooze.

I don't mind getting up for others though, so middle or aisle don't matter to me. In those seats I just read for hours.

I like aisle seat for more room to stretch my legs and not bother anyone when I need to get up to use the bathroom. I get airsick so I don't look out the window

For a car, either the driver or front passenger seat. I'm not sure there'd be a lot of instances where I'd need to sit in the back seat of a car, but it's possible I'd get car sick.

For buses, trains, and trams, the window seat, since I think that's just generally what's considered polite if both/all seats are empty. I hardly use public transport anymore.

On aeroplanes, I'd rather sit in the window seat, aisle if it was necessary, but never the middle seat, lol. I think I've only ever sat in window seats?

it depends on the length of the ride for me. if it's a short trip, i'd rather be on the end/aisle so i can get off quickly. but if it's longer than an hour i definitely need a window seat so i can attempt to relax a little. middle seats are hell no matter what the circumstance tho

I personally find the window seat to be claustrophobic. I like having the open space next to me on an aisle seat. I also always drink a ton of water on flights because you get dehydrated faster in the air, so on long flights, I usually need to go to the bathroom at some point and aisle provides the best access to do that.

I flew round trip to London on British Airways (8-9hr each way) and was booked thru a group travel agency so didn't get to pick my seat. Ended up in a middle both ways. There was some weird metal computer box thing for the screens blocking most of my legroom too. It was so miserable
