I don't need the bells I'm trying to get the achievement. I'm a few million short still. My nooks rarely has good turnip prices(usually they are offering less than what I paid). So of course I try to sell at others islands. I appreciate those people who let us come and sell but the constant being forced to stop as people come and go is horrendous. this is always assuming the persons internet didn't crash after you've been in queue forever and now can't go at all. This isn't me blaming others btw, I know it's no ones fault(well it is nintendos fault for making us watch the coming and going which they could've fixed in the last update). It just seem like they made this achievement and the stalk market in general unnecessarily stupid and difficult.

update: got the achievement, i never have to play the stupid stalk market again woo hoo!

Yeah not gonna lie before I got my 2nd switch I always found it so annoying trying to sell turnips on other people's islands. The online is so bad with the constant stopping and waiting whenever people come or leave the island. I know there are better ways to make bells in this game thanks to the 2.0 update, but still everyone was doing the stalk market which was the only way to make a lot of bells.

I don't ever do the stock market since I completed the achievement so many times that it just gets too tiring and repetitive. I mean have so much bells saved up its not like I need to do the stock market again for that. I mean granted I have visited myself since I have my 2nd switch and 2nd copy of the game but it still was repetitive.

i dont need the bells either, i'd be fine not even getting them if i could just get the achievement. I never used the stalk market to make money for this reason, i'd rather sell fish and bugs. i was just able to get onto someone else's island(they were shutting down in 15 mins and i would be really ticked to wait that long for nothing). I'm still a million and a half or so short but im getting there.

Also just let you know you cannot sell bugs or fish to CJ or Flick while they are on someone's island. Its dumb and I found out about that last month.

I’ve never cared for the stalk market. I’ve only bough turnips so that I could get some rotten ones. I’m not even worried about the achievement either. Nook miles achievements aren’t really a priority the way I play the game. It’s on my list of things I’ll possibly never achieve or even try to achieve. It goes side by side with breeding flowers ( I rather just get them from others) , and reeling in 100 fish in a row (because I have twitchy fingers).

Even if I had NSO I wouldn't have played the stalk market since the process sounds too annoying. I'm surprised it's even a thing at all since Nintendo apparently doesn't want us to get rich fast lol.

To be honest I've always found the Stalk Market makes the game a little to easy. Bells are practically worthless because of it, and I'm willing to bet that's why they introduced the Nook Miles and upped the price of everything in NH.

And yeah, the constant interruptions going online are one of the worst things about it. I've played so many other online games where players manage to come and go without needing to have this massive announcement, so I'm not sure what purpose they really serve outside of driving up the 'total play time' counter.

I have no idea how the stalk market works, I never bothered with it in past games.
I guess I should learn more about it.

All I know it's that you buy turnips and you hold onto them until they're being bought for more bells than what you paid for them. But I heard that in New Horizons they put a cap on it or something...

As someone without NSO, I often debate with myself why I always end up buying turnips every Sunday, when these past several weeks, I have bought a stack of 500 at around 105 or so per turnip, only to resell them for about 112 per turnip. As a general rule, I always sell whenever turnips are priced at over 100 bells. I know that's probably not the smartest way to play, but as far as I've seen, there's only two possible outcomes: Either I sell then and there and get a modest return on my investment (or more accurately, a refund) or I could take the gamble and hope at a later time, they'll go for much higher, though the chances of that happening are small and more often than not, it never goes above 100 again after that one time.

I guess the bamboo shoots you get in the mail for buying turnips is a nice bonus. And having Joan give you free turnips when she visits the HHP island hospital is a tiny bandage on the wound... if you can remember that she's there. I just realized I forgot to check the hospital today, and I need to remind myself to do it later.

I don't think that's true. As far as I've seen anyway, there's nothing keeping you from bankrupting yourself on turnips and then going to someone else's island to sell them for an enormous fortune. But honestly, as you described it, that's all the stalk market is. Buy turnips, wait for the Nooks to ask for a higher price than you paid for them, or go to someone else's island where they're worth more at the moment. If you have NSO or are just extraordinarily lucky, it's a good way to quickly pay off loans, but otherwise, I'm beginning to feel it rather pointless as well.

I heard it a long time ago when the game launched, so it could easily be wrong. I haven't found any sources either.

I agree with you in that it's a bit pointless, but I guess it might be useful if you want to pay off house loans or fund PWPs faster. I'm not sure how far into the game you have to be before it's introduced.

I don’t care for the achievements. I’m not going to stress out over a little stamp that does nothing for me. No shame in people that do, but I’m not playing for small achievements like that. I’ve only used turnips for bells. After acquiring a good bit of bells and all of my dream villagers, I stopped.

I end up having to go to someone else's island to sell them cause my nooks buy prices are almost always lower than what I paid for them. I either get the decreasing trend(the buy price is never higher that what you paid and gets lower as the week passes) or the one where you get a slight bump later in the week(like if i paid 100 bells a turnip i might get 112 when i sell them, thats after the price has been going down all week). Only once that I recall did I get a sell price of around 400 or so. I'm trying to find things to keep me playing and nook miles achievements give me something to work toward. This is one that I should've done early on when more people were playing and therefore more islands were open for selling. I did it in the beginning to make some quick bells but it gets old fast so I never finished it.

I mean, when it works it's great. Plus one thing you can do is look at what the pattern was for last week to decide to buy turnips. If you had a decreasing pattern there's a higher chance of getting an increasing pattern than if you had gotten an increasing pattern. Of course, maybe it's not good to have all the bells you ever need, maybe you just need enough to finish projects but not enough that you still need to go and get more bells.

yeah the stalk market sucks unless you play online. that's when you'll ever get the great prices

On a somewhat related note, it highly annoys me that you can't place turnips in storage in this game. So pretty much no matter what you do, somewhere on your island (either in some random room in your house or some space you've devoted to storage), there's going to be turnips lying around that just looks really messy.

yes it does. some people made farms where they put the turnips so they didnt look out of place.

i never bothered with it enough to notice one week from the next. also when i do this i tt through the week because i tt normally and im not about to waste a real time week for this crap. i tried it early on to get some quick money and then stopped cause it was too much hassle. awhile ago i tried it again and lost big and then gained big. then stopped again. i intended to keep going to finish the achievement but got busy and forgot about it. so here i am again.

Yeah I mean come on seriously. They let us finally put DIYS in storage but not turnips? I don't get why they cannot let us use our kitchen items like the Double Door Fridge for example to store food items like Turnips. It triggers me so much!

Stalk market is the absolute WORST. It seems like whenever you buy the turnips and go through the days the selling price is like 90 bells and lower! The sunday you don't buy them? 200+ bells selling price >:T

I fortunately have my gf to help me out but if you don't have a friend or partner who is willing to help you there's just no point in bothering with trying to turn a profit 😮‍💨

No been fighting finishing the collection quest just because I hate the stock market, and I have the online.

Yeah I hated it really good. I did it for the achievements and to get a nice bank easily but it was rather annoying having to keep track and pestering others. Sigh.
