So yesterday was my in game Birthday, and I see Katrina and get purified. Today instead of one of her usual lucky items in the mail, I noticed a zodiac rabbit figurine. Also I got some doubles of a few birthday items, while I'm still missing some colors of the birthday hat and glasses. For one of the cupcakes I was even given a soft serve hat in a color I didn't have. Weird.

You can obtain ordinary items, not just the stuff from the birthday set, especially if it's no longer your first in-game birthday.

Yes. By "no longer your first in-game birthday", I mean, if it's Year 2 onwards. Is this your 2nd birthday in the game? If it is, then you are more likely to get repeats of birthay items and possibly non-birthday items.

Last year, I got a shirt and a non-birthday furniture. It was my 2nd year celebrating my birthday in the game.
