any villagers you didn't expect to love?

I find the lack of a mouth too distracting
But a youtuber who's name escapes me, had him, and did such a hilarious voice for him I really like him now.
If anyone knows the YouTuber, here's what I remember of him. He was black, with dark hair, and had 2 islands. I think one was called A town and one called B town. Or something like that.
He had an evil persona and a prison island.
If anyone knows his name let me know, as I totally should have subbed.

I really liked Canberra and Rodeo more then I thought I would. Canberra was my starter on my second island and Rodeo was a random move in on that island. They eventually left but I did love having them both.

For me it would be quillson
I saw him many times when looking at villagers I might want but I didn't think a thing of him.
Not awful but nothing remarkable.
But when I was hunting for raymond via the campsite method (on my second island) he showed up. I thought he was pretty cool. But I also saw some other smugs on the way I liked. I thought I liked more.
So when it came to finding someone on my main island I got a different smug. I thought he was cooler. I didnt like him that much in the end.
I tried quillson because well why not.
And I loved him.
I adored him.
Hes one of my all time favourite villagers and once I'm done with smile isle, he's coming back to stay. (Since smile isle wants you to gift your villagers ugly items, I might as well get photos along the way)
So quillson went from someone I overlooked, to someone who I like but not enough to have, to a replacement throw away villager, to an all time favourite.

Peewee and maybe even Louie. Thanks to @Pyoopi, I grew to like these two gorillas; I already was starting to like hans (or his design at least). Every time I hung out with Pyoopi, Peewee was always photobombing us or moving when I was trying to take a picture of him. Good times

I wasn't expecting to like Curt too much when I got him, but he's actually one of my favorite villagers in my island. Cranky villagers tend to not get the love they deserve
Gorrilas as a whole are awful
But he's an amazing villager
Easily 8 or 9 out of 10 stars
Hans just goes to show how amazing gorillas could be if they put in some effort
He is pretty cool
I had him as a starter on one of my island
And while I knew he was not a dreamie
I knew he was really cool
One day I hope to bring him back (so he's not in a starter house)
And get his photo
He’s one of the better alligator villagers. Sly actually looks like he could live in a Swamp. A lot of ideas are coming to mind flor a yard for Sly. He’s not on my island though because he doesn’t fit my theme. I had him though and it was really tough to get to rid of him. I was attached.
Flurry, though I definitely LIKED her from the start. I suppose if we're talking complete 360's then Teddy. I used to push him around, whack him a lot in NL, then sort of warmed to his, as I saw it, bumbling about, doing weird stuff.
monique! never thought twice about her until she moved in randomly... used to think the villagers with makeup and such were kinda funky (in a not good way) but seeing her animated and all made me looove her and her funky makeup

Once and forever
So many (plucky, fauna, flip, Reneigh, Ike) but probably number one on the list is Bangle. I found her while island hopping for my three starter house villagers. I didn’t have many tickets and didn’t know much about the game. I never disliked her, but though I thought she was cute i also wasn’t sure how much I would like her. I planned to move her out pretty much as soon as I could.
Then one day I realized she was one of my favorites and i couldn’t imagine my island without her…and she just celebrated her second birthday on my island (happy birthday Bangle)

the main ones that come to mind for me are del and zucker. i was never a huge zucker fan prior to new horizons, so when i ran into him during one of my first island hopping sessions, i honestly only invited him so that i could profit off of him later. ...that plan didn’t work out, though, since i grew attached to him and kept him LOL.
i let him go earlier this year, but he’s still one of my absolute favourites and i love him a lot. i’m not sure what changed exactly between my new leaf days and last year, but he’s really the sweetest lil dude and having him on my island made me so happy. i‘d even gladly have him on my island again one day despite my rule of not having a villager more than once.
del, on the other hand, came from someone’s void after i failed to save after an island hopping session, so i really wasn’t expecting to like him as much as i did. he moved out about a month ago, but it was great to have a cranky on my island again after months of not having one, and del is honestly a pretty cool dude! he’s even inspired me to start giving other villagers that i don’t care for or that i find ugly a chance because he’s made me realize that all villagers are worth getting to know because if he, a villager who i previously disliked and didn’t want, can become one of my favourites, who knows how many other potential favourites i’ve been depriving myself of. :’)

Pinky! At first I just adopted her because she fit my Asian-themed island, but she's quickly become my favorite villager in my current island. I didn't like her that much before because her old color was dull violet and I wasn't a fan of her outfit, but they seemed to have tweaked her in ACNH and I'm really happy with the change! It's also really fun to see a "big" peppy villager since I was so used to the smaller peppy species.
