Anyone ever had this awkward convo?

So if you're like me that most of my actual friends don't relate to me, you've probably had this weird convo.

I'm talking to my best friend about what I plan on doing for my anniversary, I tell her I plan on seeing a movie I've been wanting to see this weekend.

Her: Oh cool, what movie?
Me: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
Her: Oh, lol..
Me: It's like Harry Potter.. >_> lol

Most of my friends don't play video games or watch anime so I really have almost nothing in common with them. ^^; I try to avoid talking about stuff like that whenever possible cause they don't get it so why even try? xP

Yep it's the same for me as well lol I usually don't talk about my interests with them since they won't get it, but when it comes down to simple convos like that make it difficult not to mention it even if they don't get it.

MY BEST FRIEND ASKED ME WHAT THAT MOVIE WAS AND I WANTED TO CRY SHES WATCHED ALL THE HARRY POTTER MOVIES TOO (which sucks but it's better than nothing at all)

I feel so crazy talking about things I am really into with people because a lot of my friends have different interests from me so I'll like GO OFF if they provoke me to talk about my interests and my friends will just be like... "Oh, that's neat." And I'm sitting there like a crazy person, so it's gotten hard for me to open up sometimes. It also sucks cause when I get excited my ADHD comes out with a vengeance and I end up like really loud and hyper which are two things I totally am not anymore... so it's really weird and I feel extra crazy.

My best friend is a few years older than me so she missed the cut off for some of the things I am into. She never got into Pokemon or Harry Potter so she doesn't relate to my excitement u_u.

Yep. I've been on both sides of this conversation. I am clueless about a lot of games and my best friend is a huge Nintendo fan. He also makes a lot of references that I miss so he often has to explain that.

However, he doesn't know AC very well so I'm often explaining stuff to him. It balances out. I feel bad asking him to explain but it's cool because I learn from it.
