Are there any movies you think are really under appreciated?

I was just sat in bed thinking about how under loved the Odd Thomas movie was honestly it was so good and I don't understand why so many people hate it in all honesty

Shinjuku dorobo nikki I mean people keep praising his other works and especially Ai no corrida but tbh I think this one is one of his best.

Also Concerning Violence (shame though Lauryn Hill did a trash job with the voiceover for the english version so yeah watch whatever and whoever else doing it if possible...)

Honestly, I think every movie from Studio Ghibli is underappreciated excluding Spirited Away. I know it's gonna exaggerate, but I can't think of anything more underrated than that studio. I really hate that bad movies get infinite more attention than good movies, purely because they're good to make fun of. Not that there's anything wrong about mocking **** like the Emoji Movie, but it should never take the attention off real cinema.

Anyone remember "Make thy world like thee"? Really? No wonder, it's so under appreciated because it doesn't exist.

THE ROAD TO EL DORADO
PARANORMAN
also, song of the sea is a BEAUTIFUL movie that deserves more attention

omg @op i just realized you mentioned odd thomas, that's a GREAT movie!! i don't think i've met other people who've seen it ahah

Metropolis, the anime movie. The most beautiful movie I've ever seen, genuinely.

I always thought John Carter was an underrated movie. It's not my favorite though.

I don't know if they're overrated or not, but I love all the Pitch Perfect movies. There's just something about a bunch of misfit girls going through ridiculous **** while also singing that speaks to me.

Glad I gave you the idea!
I guess Chronicle would be one (it was quite popular back in 2012, but now its fandom has just, well, died). But I DEFINITELY need to give The Trial (featuring my dead husband Anthony Perkins) a mention. He just seems so awkward and cute in it (he was a shy man, though, so maybe that'd be why) and I really enjoyed it. Not only that, but B&W movies are so good to me; people seem happier in them for the most part.

EDIT:
OOH! I forgot to say Carrie (the original; can't remember when it came out but sometime in the 70s or 80s) and a few other old Stephen King films. They usually get a lot of hate, but I guess I just really like them.
We Need To Talk About Kevin was good (I'm currently reading the book), but it felt a little tedious at times.
The Castle is an amazing Australian film. I think every Aussie should watch it.

The 1990 original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is the most unappreciated super hero, comic book movie of all time.

Carrie is under appreciated? I thought critics and people loved that film.

Assuming we're taking "underrated" as in actually having low reviews on IMDB, etc. and not just "unpopular" or "unknown," then I'd put in The Secret Garden (super sweet & magical), Stoker (creepy & lovely), Hard Candy, Phoebe in Wonderland, and Home Alone 2.

well someone thought taratino was underrated so ehhh.. i don't like tarantino but i'd be willing to watch the original carrie i guess.

definitely the 400 blows. i don't know of many people who enjoyed it but i really liked it :<

rip if we're talking about low ratings i'd say before i disappear. it's one of my favorite indie films.

I'm talking more about its following today. The re-adaption is way more popular than the original, and it overshadows it immensely, which is why I think it's under-appreciated.

I bet you'll love it. It's an amazing film.

The Great Wall! The plot itself is pretty bad and I have no idea what accent Matt Damon is trying for but the actions scenes are incredible! It's like one of those movies you watch when you're flipping the channel with nothing to watch or just want to watch a movie for the sake of it. Or if you want to see some pretty nicely choreographed fight sequences. Or my personal favorite, if you want to make fun of it with friends! So many uses for one movie! It's the perfect filler is what I'm trying to say.

Away We Go

Amazing movie, great soundtrack, great cast, gets me right in the feels each time and made me fall in love with John Krasinski as Burt. <3!!! If you haven't seen it I highly recommend, definitely one of those movies that I never see anyone talk about even though it has some very popular cast members and it's in my top faves.

Hard Candy.
YASSS!!!! Baby Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson getting tortured!!! <3 I don't know why I love to see Patrick Wilson in bad situations but like, even in Phantom of the Opera where he's getting choked. OH LORD. (Don't kinkshame me.)

PARANORMAN

Honestly, it needs a bigger following, such an amazingly done movie and the JOKES that flew over kids heads, like it was meant for me. I love it so much! Thanks for reminding me too, because I need to get it on DVD.
