Is anyone planning to stay away from sites on release day and a few days after, so as not to be spoiled right off the bat?

Animal Crossing generally holds your hand for getting started, so there won't be a need to look things up. I want to feel like I'm able to discover things on my own. I'll be back next week, but Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, I'll be offline, playing in my own little world. :)

I know almost nothing about the game. I didn't want to get dragged into the hype because I find that's how people get their hopes too high.

Last night I finally watched the Direct and a video on picking your map. That's the extent of my knowledge!

I'm trying to watch some teaser videos, but never gameplays/playthroughs. only official Nintendo videos that last around 30 seconds and don't reveal a lot of stuff. I really want to discover everything by myself

Personally I don't feel there is much to spoil for me until Thursday night, aside from some hidden story. You could tell me something big, like whether Brewster is in the game, or how to unlock him, but I wouldn't consider it a spoiler.

I purchased the guide book, and will happily be reading through it in a few weeks to see what's in the game to be unlocked.

I've been watching lots of analysis vids and all the reviews but I'm avoiding actual gameplay and "walkthroughs" until a couple months in

I'm staying off Reddit and I'm being picky on the threads I'm opening up here. I might take a break from everything tomorrow. I've watched a total of three reviews and those made me very excited. I might re-watch them, but other than that, I'm not really looking for any more information until Friday.

I'm getting all the info I can before it gets released but when it comes out I'll avoid it so I can enjoy the rest myself :)

i've tried to avoid as much as possible since pax. the idea of having new things to see everyday is exciting. it's easy to be strict this time since i knew everything about new leaf before i played it. i'll probably avoid most youtube content about the game when it comes out too.

I’m sort of avoiding them. I’m not watching any early playthrough videos or features about mid-game unlocks like terraforming, although I have seen screenshots from discussions. I told myself I wouldn’t listen to the hourly music but I couldn’t resist and I did listen to a couple. I’m so in love with the soundtrack already just from the few I’ve heard!

How much can an animal crossing game be spoiled tbh? You make the experience you want to have.

Clarifying: Features aren’t really spoilers to me personally. I like to know what I’m working towards.

I haven’t been watching stuff or reading spoilers. Mainly because I’ve been too busy but now it’s so close that I feel I’ve waited this long, might as well just keep avoiding so I can experience it for myself instead of watching someone else experience it first.

I tried to not spoiler myself, but I've been watching people play live on youtube these last couple of days who got access to the game early lol

i totally get what you're saying, i've been trying to not see spoilers from dataminers but most people just put spoilers in the title with no warning. but that's on me too since i should've known better than to lurk this thread if i didn't want to see anything lol. i don't mind watching official videos or even reviews, but it does feel like i'm ruining my own discovery once i stumble upon spoilers

We're so close to release, i found the best strategies for not succumbing to the temptation of spoilers is playing other games, watching movies, anything to pull the focus away for a couple more days.

I don't understand why everyone is concerned about animal crossing spoilers as if this is a campaign story mode game lol... i understand wanting to experience parts of the game on your own first but like... *shrug*
I mean nothing against those who ARE avoiding 'spoilers' tho ! I'm half avoiding - half consuming everything possible... I know I'm still gonna have my first time experience that will be special to ME only eventually lol
