For purposefully bad suggestions.
Example: Replace the Shrunk Funk Shuffle with the Fortnite default dance.

The village should start off large enough for only your own house. Additional land expansions, each the same size as the first, should be purchasable for $4.99 each.

New weather features - thunderstorms can now strike and destroy/damage trees, houses, and pwps. Must pay a hefty sum to Nook to repair. (Also, Lyle is demoted and goes back to selling you insurance) During snow storms Isabelle declares a curfew where you cannot leave the house during that time. There?s now Haze that engulfs the town during certain seasons to reflect bad air quality wafting through after nearby deforestation.
Some DLC and special items untradable (cannot be dropped and picked up).
Plot resetting triggers Resetti to appear every single time.

You are forced to pay bills for everything you do, every flower you place, every light switch you flick, every hole you dig etc.
Failure to pay bills makes you work for Tom Nook for a whole year to pay it off and during that period nothing will be available for purchase for you.

All villagers are now DLCs. You will start the game with 5 random villagers that are free. If you
want new ones you have to buy them at the eShop. Each villager cost you $2 (the price stays
the same, just the currency changes depending of where you live). If the villager moves out
and you want him/her back, then you have to pay again. There are also some "villager packs",
each pack comes with 5 villagers and you can buy one pack for the price of $7,99. Villagers
can also not be adopt from other players, that means, if they move out there are going
immediately into the void and you can't get a villager from another players (= the Villager
Trading Plaza would lose it's purpose).

Make it so villagers can eat and trample all over flowers, chop down trees and graffiti public works projects and each others houses.

Your character and all villagers have to eat now. If they aren't fed everyday, their health bar goes down and they die after 1 week. No time traveling, so you have to login every day and wander around town finding and feeding everyone. There isn't a master list either.

wait no, is this too controversial? hhhhh.

Time traveling being removed from the game, as changing the Switch’s internal clock won’t have any impact on your Animal Crossing towns.

Your progress should be saved by sending a letter through the post office, taking 2 to 3 working days. If the game is exited during this time, you lose your progress.

Introduce the hurricane day restrictions from classic Harvest Moon games: if there's one you can't go outside for the entire day! I once had a storm in Friends of Mineral Town last 3 or 4 days.

Nintendo sees requests for cranky villagers to be mean again and dials it up way too far

they now, in addition to being verbal jerks, routinely assault the player enough to put them in the hospital with severe injuries and steal their items. with all of the items on-hand, in-house, in-storage, and the money in the abd being prime targets

they can also steal one-time obtainables such as the golden tools, with it being possible to never get the stolen goods back. either because they just get rid of or break them

Counter - your progress is saved by journaling. Literally, you have to write it down. If you don't write it all down, it didn't happen. You can only journal once per day, however - so only pick up that virtual pen when you're done!

"dear diary, today, tom nook gave me a billion bells and a complete special catalogue where everything in the town is orderable for a flat rate of 100 bells per item."

Nintendo decided to send Resetti into pension, now to prevent that any sloppy player
would forget to save the game, the game saves every 30 seconds on it's own. If you
dare to turn off your console without end the game in the from Nintendo given way,
your town will be deleted as a punishment. To be able to save whenever you want,
you have to buy the "Bring back Resetti" DLC from the eShop for $25, coming out
2021 and will be only available for the first 1000 player world wide.
