i agree that it is their game with which they can do what they will.

my argument against time-traveling is that items are made available when they aren't supposed to be (from certain events in the future or past). in a way, it is sort of like hacking in that the game is not being played the way it was intended. just because you can time-travel doesn't necessarily mean you should.

if the time-traveling is used to gain money, this disturbs the economy of the game. you have players who are unnaturally wealthy, and items in the game are thereby cheapened. players playing the game correctly become poor in comparison. that isn't to say one can't become rich in the game, but it requires a certain amount of time and dedication. think of the respect you would garner and personal satisfaction your would feel by achieving all of that, through no means other than playing the game the way it was meant to be played!
instead of just writing the same thing, i'd rather just give this post some more attention since no one decided to comment on it from the obvious SENSE it makes...
I just QFT'd it...
ok, let me edit my sentence...

instead of just writing the same thing, i'd rather just give this post some more attention since no one decided to argue with the obvious SENSE it makes...*

zomg tting iz sooo bad ull brn if u do it
I do this too. I don't personally like to Time Travel often in my own game. But this does NOT mean I'm against doing it =P I just try not to get very friendly with it.

i don't think anyone has said time traveling is evil or anything. :/ they only negative part about it is putting items that aren't ready yet into circulation and screwing up the prices/economy by having a surplus of certain items... you can't disagree with that, and if you try to, you don't understand the concept of an "economy." that's the only issue people have with it on this post... go back and read.

I had to unsign the Gentlemen Agreement just for the fact that I am pretty busy with school and stuff and miss things... aka turnips, that sort of thing, and most likely miss some events... I don't want to miss them so I will go back and do that event/thing I missed. So yeah I am, to a certain degree, a TT. I am still in the middle of the road, so to speak, on how a lot of others use TT to their advantage...

Just a hint, if you TT, do it at a bare minimum... The game will last longer that way... and you will get more enjoyment out of it.

totally agree, perhaps playing the game in real time isnt fun for TTers just like TT isnt fun for people who signed the g-agreement, i personally play in real time but if i miss an event due to realy life situations im gonna do it with TTing, then get back too real time, theres nothing wrong with it at all, its just how some people get the most enjoyment out of this game

P.S i have to agree with Nedrian and Neverbeenkrissed that TTers should NOT abuse TT and mess up the market

exactly, i think it comes down to an issue of abuse.

and i recognize that it's hard to be objective about what someone would call "time-travel abuse" - i think this is why it's such a heated topic. :r

ppl will always abuse it >.< but what can u do?
The worlds not perfect
no, it's not perfect and it never will be. i don't care if people hack or TT. they can do it all day long and it not bother me one bit. that's why the gentleman's agreement is out there - i won't add anyone unless they've signed that, and they actually abide by it. the first time i go to someone else's town and it's any other season besides winter, i take them off my friend roster. it's nothing personal... there's just 2 ways you can play this game and i choose to do it by playing fairly and i like to keep my friend roster open for other people that play it the same way.

1 - not time raveling, and enjoying the game for as long as possible, getting things 100% fairly.
2. time traveling and/or hacking, and playing the game as a toy, which is fine... if they spent the money on the game and want to play it like that, why should i say anything to them about it? it's not like they're telling me i need to time travel/hack because i'm not playing it right... like people that don't time travel are telling them.

the agreements are out there for others to find people they would want to add, if they only want to play with specific players (like i don't want to play with time travelers or hackers...) so lay off all the "OMG THIS IS SO STUPID!111! IT'S SPAM I HATE AGREEMENTS THEY ALL NEED TO BURN IN HELL!11!one!!111" because they do help people find others they want to play with, regardless of how many there are. there has to be a lot to cover all the different things people think are ok or not ok...
